(Ok Im gonna try and start up a short story for people to carry on for about a week as theres no story to currently post about except IW follow ons etc [who are IW anyway? Gonna have to ask Geist] )

Raziel looked down at the instructions he had been given for the meeting place.
Not far now, he though.
Looking around Raziel sharp eyes could pick up the ugly features of the dark city. Even in daytime this ugly city was dark and right now it was the middle of the night. It was however a good place for a meeting and Raziel approved if Tuckers choice. The city was a large sprawling expanse that had almost entirely become derelict and wasted over time.

Tucker was one of his old contacts from his days as a hit man and thief. He had an extensive intelligence agency and he had spies everywhere. Raziel had even worked for him on a few occasions.
Raziel used Tucker because he was the best. No one else had such a skilled force and anyway Tucker had a good policy of always telling the truth. He said it was often bad for business any other way and he wasnt interested in taking sides. Raziel had looked over the VEs own intelligence agency and although extensive did not make a scratch on Tuckers group.

Raziel was nearing the meeting place now. As instructed he walked through a small doorway into a dark room. As he walked through the door he could just ear a slight hum coming from all around him. Raziel figured it was probably a snooper set up to detect any weapons. He knew they would see a combat knife under his shirt at his back, a sidearm tucked in his belt and a throwing knife in his boot. He also knew they wouldnt see the two small knives he always kept in his sleeves, they were immune to such searchs.

Raziel looked around the plain-seeming room. The walls were black like almost everything else in this damnable city. However if one was sharp enough there were several give away features. An opaque gleam to one wall revealed a one-way window in the guise of a wall. On the other side there were the slightest of dents, probably the starts of openings. Behind those openings would be guns trained on the small civilian looking figure that was Raziel.
He knew the entire conversation would be monitored and replayed until they thought they knew everything that Raziel was thinking about.
Good to see you again, came a deep and cracked voice from the other side of the room.
Raziel looked up to see a middle aged man walking towards him. In appearance he looked harmless and frail. Raziel knew better.
I must say its been a while Tucker, Raziel replied.
You came alone I take it? Tucked asked. He looked suspiciously at Raziel weary of the weapons he knew were concealed.
No one followed me, but of course youre not alone are you? Raziel smiled at the organisations leader. It was a rhetorical question. He rarely met clients in person, but he and Raz went back. Although Tucker didnt know that Raziel was his name, and Raziel doubted that Tucker was this mans only alias.
Tucker smiled back and carried on.
You have the pay? he asked. Raziel merely nodded grimly and surreptitiously passed a package over to him.
Tucker stopped smiling and indicated to one of the two plain wooded chairs situated in the centre of the room.
Down to business.

He began giving his information over to Raz: now you would be interested in knowledge I have about certain activities regarding a group opposing the Vast Empire army?
Raziel nodded.
Well it seems that something has been in the works for a long time. Looking over our records we have found a number of events that all seem to lead to one unknown organisation. Covert ops, assassinations, business deals and the like..its all on that data disc. He passed a small metallic object over to Raz.
Raziel looked down at the card and then back up at Tucker, who took this as a signal to carry on.
What we know of this organisation is very little. You know how we work, we are everywhere. However my forces have been unable to penetrate this new organisation. Five of my best men died trying to infiltrate them. I believe some people for the VE also found something out about this organisation. You know what happened there. Now we know that your side has planned some retaliations and is preparing to execute them now.
So he knew Raziel had joined the Vast Empire
You will be facing someone highly organised and incredibly dedicated, theyve also managed to remain unknown for years. Even from us. However we have been able to find out some information about movements of their troops and fleets. As of yet weve been unable to tell what their aims are, but basically they believe that they are on some kind on Jihad to cleanse the galaxy.
On that disc is one piece of information we found particularly valuable, if it wasnt you the price would have been huge. Weve found them holding a small low-key military installation on a far-out planet. Its about the size of a village and its lightly guarded. It is where they keep up a backup of all their information files and intelligence. We believe several of their best people are there now, if someone happened to make a quick strike and get out with hostages and information it could give someone a chance against them.
Anyway all of that is on the disc and to be honest thats not why I agreed to see you. You see I hate to see a waste of good talent. To be frank you dont stand a chance, this things been slowly winding up for a very long time now and theres now no stopping it. You will be destroyed along with the rest of the VE. You will be swept away without even slowing the tide.
Raziel did not like what he was hearing. If this group was so powerful how had no-one found out about them?
Sergeant Raziel of the Vast Empire Stormtrooper division. It was a blank statement and Raziel had to admit that he never really expected his identity to be hidden from this man. He didnt like the way that Tucker smiled sarcastically when he said his name and rank however.
Raziel, you were one of the best in your profession on our records. I even had you do some jobs for me yourself. All of them were profitable for both sides. What I am proposing is that you join my organisation. You wont be just another name and number in the registry of an army, you can do what youve always been nest at. Well be stepping into the background during this war as per usual, but afterwards therell be a lot of sorting out to do. A man like you could make a lot of money by ending a lot of arguments. So what do you say, go back to your old free ways?
Raziel looked blankly at Tucker: You know I cant
oh its ok, we can come up with some sort of cover, the Vast Empire will never find you Tucker completely misread Raziel.
Raziel was getting angry now. Look, I have responsibilities now and loyalties. I will die with them if I have to.
Raziel turned and made his way to the soundproof, sealed door and awaited its opening.
Its a shame to waste your talent, but you have been burdened with many unnecessary things my friend. If you happen to survive, or change your mind Ill always need someone of your skills and anyone else you believe worthy of my service. You know how to contact me. Tucker said to Raziels back.
The door slid open and Raziel left quickly. Tucker had indeed been correct that Raziel had been tempted by the offer, sorely tempted. To make sure he was not followed and simply for practise Raziel merged into the shadows and disappeared, making his way to his vehicle, which would take him to the planets main space port.

=============================================

Youre sure hes an accurate source? Fury asked again. He was still annoyed that Raziel wouldnt give details concerning his contact. Raziel had merely told him that the source would find out and no further contact would be possible.
Im certain sir. Raziel remained in a stiff pose, his uniform immaculate.
Upon his return he had decided to make himself presentable and check in before going to Fury.
Ill have to inform others and we can decided on a plan of action. I make no promises however that we will even do anything about this possibly false information. Fury was also annoyed of the possibility that the Vast Empires intelligence services had been inadequate.
If I cannot know more about your old friends then in future you will inform me whenever you are going to meet your contacts and an escort or monitoring can be arranged.
Raziel nodded dumbly but he knew that would never be possible. He doubted he would be able to contact Tucker for some time now, he would probably be keeping his organisation in the background until the firing stopped. Unless of course he saw it as. Profitable to get involved.

=============================================

Raziel was getting together his equipment in the morning. He dressed in his uniform, making sure it was absolutely perfect. Any less and he would either be shouted at or get the occasional rifle-butt in the stomach. After doing some drill and presenting themselves perfectly the Regimental sergeant major had promised them all some endurance testing.
Raziel was fit, but he wasnt the strongest man and carrying a 150lb pack across 15 miles of wasteland in horrible conditions wasnt going to be easy.
But the RSM had said they were going to do it and that was that. No-one ever argued with him.

Raziel stood perfectly still as the platoon commanders walked the ranks inspecting each and every one of them. Someone to Razs left had been found to be wearing muddy boots. The RSM was currently screaming into his face. There was some commotion up front and Raziel could see that the high command was assembling. Colonel Anakin stepped forwards.
Wildcard platoon. You are dismissed come with me. And that was all he said. He walked off through some doors, which hissed as they slid open for him. Fury fell into step behind him and Squad leaders started marching the platoon away.

The thirty-six men of Wildcard platoon sat on chairs that sloped away from a central table where Fury, Anakin and their staff members were sitting. After a surreptitious nod from Anakin fury stood and cleared his throat. He looked around the room at everyone before starting:
Ok everyone, after new information received from sources of a secret nature we will be taking part in a covert operation in the outer rim. The exact location will be kept secret.
Raziel couldnt help but smile.
Normally we would send in one of the SOFs, but none of them are currently available. The intelligences active members are tied down right now. We have decided that based on previous performances you are our best choice.
Raziel was fairly certain that whoever they were fighting was targeting the VEs intelligence services.
We will be attacking a small bunker within a valley. The climate of this area is acceptable, being warm and humid. The bunker is believed to be the secret intelligence base of one of the organisations opposing us. The idea is that a surprise night strike at the lightly defended base could reveal useful information.
On the table a holo-map came up showing the bunker within a steep sided U-shaped valley, obviously the work of a large glacier. Raziel could notice only one change to the diagram.
Contrary to our original information, we have found that the bunker does infact go four floors beneath the surface. Reconnaissance has shown that there is a considerable amount of security measures and sentrys posted around the base. Any military ship flying in would be detected and reinforcements would arrive. So we will be travelling in a civilian liner which flies parallel to the valley.
The image of a low atmosphere transport materialised. It began to fly above the western edge of the valley. As it went four yellow dots dropped from the liner to the ground.
You will al be held in drop pods in the cargo area of the ship. When you are over the correct areas the pods will be dropped. The pods are all fully equipped to avoid detection of any kind, however the ride will be shaky.
A few moans came from around the room.
When you are dropped squads two to four will make their way towards the east side of the structure. Squad one, you will be making your way down the river towards the building. This is believed to be the most heavily watched route so the elite squad will be tackling it.
When you are within fifty yards of the building you will abandon stealth for speed. If you take to long heavy reinforcements will arrive and take you out.
One member of each squad will be equipped with explosive, should you need them to get in.
Once inside Squads Two, Three and Four will be sweeping the building. Iron horse you will be keeping watch out side for signs of escape. Raziel have you been using Yillamiens equipment I gave you?
Yes sir, Raziel replied.
Well once you are inside your task will be to find a terminal and try to hack into the computers memory and download what information you can. Youre not too good in a fire fight so I will be accompanying you to make sure you can complete the task. If all else fails well have one of the residents help you, Fury smiled.
There were several shocked faces around the room.
Yes I will be leading this expedition. Fury was trying to hide it, but he looked pleased. Anyway as soon as we have hostages and information we will be leaving in a hidden vessel which will take us to the nearest port. You will be wearing Civilian clothes under your armour and you will be trained to act as one of the locals over the next week. This is simply part of your escape and evacuation plan should anything go wrong.
Remember speed is of the essence. It is believed a small army is kept nearby to protect the installation from the background.

Fury sat down and Anakin stood up.
For this mission you will al be equipped with a silenced projectile pistol. We believe this may be necessary for taking out sentries whilst keeping hidden. You will all be trained with this over the next week as well. Also due to demand the Iron Horse will be equipped with Pink Bath Robes.
Now to be honest this is an incredibly important mission and we could all be in trouble should you not succeed. This is why Fury is coming along. We have placed a lot of faith in you so I hope you will keep up with expectations. You will report in at 05:00 tomorrow for mission preparation. Dismissed.
The end to the briefing was abrupt and many troopers looked around for a second before leaving the room.

=============================================

The knife danced quickly between nimble fingers. If you looked into the blade you would see reflections of grim soldiers in armour and a dull metal of military walls. Several troopers looked around as Raziel spun the knife for amusement. Raziel merely did it to try and keep calm. He looked around at the rest of the members of the squad, and of course at Fury. The ride had been smooth so far, but they couldnt see anything from their drop pods. Raziel felt comfortable in the civilian clothes beneath the light armour they were all wearing for this mission.
They could all quite easily fit in at the nearest city now until they could be picked up, all the clothes they were wearing except the armour could be bought in shops there. They now knew the customs and routines by heart. Raziel could still remember the address of the safe house where they could all meet should anything go wrong.

A red light came on above them and the troopers all stiffened. One click to drop zone. Raziel sheathed his knife and held tight.
A clunk sounded from their left. EIH had been dropped at there position north and up river of the small bunker. Three seconds later and the whole pod lurched. Raziels stomach seemed to leave his body as the pod was dropped. The three pods dropped unnoticed from the sky. The silhouettes and thrusters were barely perceptible against the black horizon.
Raziel began counting under his breath 1234
Epic groaned on Raziels left, but Fury remained motionless on Raziels right. Cosmic looked at Epic sharply to check that he was alright, not that there was anything he could do now.
2526 Raziel braced himself as the pod slowed. It still must have hit the ground at 10km/h and Raziel felt like his skull had been driven into his neck.

The Raiders emerged from their pod into complete darkness, to their left and right the other two squads dropped with them were also preparing themselves. Raziel shouldered his rifle and checked over the silenced handgun they had all been issued with. Pulling back the topslide a few millimetres he checked that the round was chambered properly.

3 clicks away and far below them a single light was emitted from the bunker. The three squads set out across the grassland. They all knew it would be a difficult mission to get there undetected, but they had no choice. Fury was checking that all squads were down safely and active. As one all three squads set out at different angles. Raziel acted as point man for the squad, because he had experience at this kind of thing. Basically he knew what to look for in terms of security devices and sentries. The Tab across to the installation would take the best part of an hour and then things would explode.

(Ok we have to make our way silently to the secret base. Iron horse will be making their way down a well defended river from the north whilst the others come from the east. Iron Horse will stay outside and watch for escaped personnel, whilst the others search the building for hostages. Fury and I will be attempting to hack into the computers and download intelligence information. Then we will escape as fast as possible before reinforcements arrive.
Equipment: Civilian clothes under light protection, black armour.
Silenced projectile pistols for stealthy kills
Pink bath robes and towels for the Iron Horse. This time they come with the words Dont Panic written in friendly blue letters across then.

Ask me if you dont understand anything about the mission )

[The IW is the Intruder Wing, the club to which the Fallen Angels used to belong before it broke up. Also, you've been reading "hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy" too much haven't you? "Don't Panic" indeed ]

Unbeknownst to Wildcard Platoon, Fury had ordered Storm Platoon to get into the system beforehand and stand ready to help if things got out of hand(like they usually did).

Argon and his XO, Master(the only two members of the FA#2 Squad(*hinthint* Daishi))had set up a firing spot from which they could use their favorite toy, and automatic grenade launcher.

They knew that, over the past week, the rest of the FA had set up their individual stuff around the area.

Right now, Argon and Master amused themselves by watching the VE troops try to go secretly through the jungle, and pointing out to each other everything that was done wrong.

This led to an almost nonstop stream of talking, so they settled for only noting the major ones, and recording it with the macrobinoculars to show the other VEers later.

Five meters to their left and up about 20 degrees, Narm and Tycho waited with a similar installation of an automatic grenade launcher.

Daishi and Geist had set up a sniper's nest near the top of the cliff, with two missle launchers, just in case.

Fish and Jingo had the E-web blasters set up ten meters below at about a 15 degree angle right from straight down.

Hippie and Deathwookie had another one in the same position, but relative to Tycho and Narm and to the right.

They had set up one of those cup and string systems so that they could talk to each other without the signal being overheard.

"Hey Narm,"said Fish,"You think that if we were enemies we could wipe out the Wildcards?"

"Of course,"said Narm,"they wouldn't even see it coming, they're too... Stormtrooperlike."

"Hey,"said their platoon leader, who was up with Daishi and Geist,"knock off the bad talk about Stormtroopers."

The members of the Fallen Angels broke into laughter, this was becoming a pattern every time they spoke.

So they settled down again, waiting until Wildcard Platoon screwed up and needed their help, it was inevitable...

Fury was still shaking off the effects of the dropship terror ride. With the combination of Epic's realization that he wasn't in a simulator and Fury's use of concealed emotions learned through years of sabacc games, it appeared that no one was the wiser. However, he still really, really hated to rocket towards the surface of a planet in an armored can.

With night approaching, it seemed that nobody had taken much notice of the platoon's arrival. Even the recon/supply trip that he and Jedi had taken into a nearby village had elicited little in the way of looks and responses. It was risk, but one that had paid off - the locals were used to strange, armed beings in their midst. Not the best of news exactly, but it confirmed that they were on the right planet.

From the few Force latent individuals in the team, it appeared that the Fallen Angels had interpreted his support orders and were already in position somewhere nearby. Just like their style to be early to a party and for once it worked directly in favor of the set mission agenda. Storm Platoon could always be counted on, for both excellent work and horrible gags. Hopefully they had saved the tricks for the enemy this time. Hopefully they had kept them aware from their platoon leader for the time being as well.

Fury mused a bit while walking down a trail. A lot of new troopers were planetside, trained and used to head-on overwhelming advances than in the more subtle means of invasion. Force of arms, however, were not going to work this time. The enemy had the numeric, tactical, and strategic advantages. This would try be a test of the VE's military ability beyond shooting bolts into massed groups of rebels and pirates.

Beyond the problem of new troops and a slightly unusual mission, Fury was mentally checking off his squad leaders. While all of them were excellent soldiers, some were new to the idea of leading off of a controlled battlefield environment. This mission would involve a lot of improvisation, quick thinking and a greater dependence on each individual trooper. There would not be time to hold somebody's hand or to just pick up some slack for them. In fact this whole campaign would be likely dictated in those terms.

Maybe he was worrying too much, but the orders he had received left a bitter taste in his mouth. They included the provision that his troopers might fail to achieve their objective. In fact, such a result was actually proposed as a beneficial result. If the Corps could obtain a ground victory but not quite contain the enemy, it would allow the various naval elements present in the system to tail any escapees to other bases.

Fury could see the value in that, but he hated having to hide such news from his troops. He also didn't care for a situation where he didn't truly know the strengths of his adversary.

For the moment though, it mattered little. Soon, Cosmic would order a halt and the squad would rest for the night. Until Fury was truly needed to assist Raziel with his task, he had little more to do than just help carry the gear. It was Cos's squad and it would just damage morale if he took over this team. Besides, until comm traffic was restored during the battle there was little else he could do.

(Wa hey thx for posting Fury! I think the best idea is sleep the daysmove the nights )
He didnt mean to criticise anyone, but before the mission had began he had subtly hinted that maybe he should give them a crash course in infiltration techniques. Although they were all better soldiers than Raziel none of them had had much training or experience in that area. And Raziel had spent the last ten years of his life breaking into high security compounds.
He had shown them the basic, such as the best way to get past fence, electrified or otherwise and how to find other security devices. After ten years Raziel had found glitches and weaknesses in nearly all of them. This was the first time he had a really good chance to use his particular skills. He wondered if he should have a talk with the Fallen angels about different techniques. Then again they were used to group mission going across military borders, whereas Raziel kept to stealing for wealthy business men occasionally and assassinations.oh well that was behind him now.

The troops tried to move as silently as possible through the grassy terrain, it was almost pitch black now and they were having trouble spotting the various traps and sensors that Raziel had warned them about. Various hi tech devices would probably be concealed under the ground that could warn of their approach. Raziel removed a small black object from his pocket. The colour didnt really matter, everything Raziel carried was black.
Whats that? Fury asked.
Oh its a fairly simple thing, warns me about any sensors of any kind. Just in-case they have any security devices under the ground Raziel decided to keep his sharp eyes on the ground. He activated the vibration mode on the little device and placed it under his armour.

So far the only things they had encountered were small walls and the odd tripwire attached to a flare gun, which could really have put them in trouble.
What Raziel didnt know was that it wasnt by chance that they were taking the easiest route. FA had acted as a recon group and had already scouted the outermost area of the perimeter. Even now they were advising Fury on the best possible route through.

A 10ft fence loomed up above them now and Cosmic halted the squad. Raziel crawled forwards to inspect it. Mindful that, although sentries didnt come this far from the base, they could still be seen. He looked over a section of the fence and found it to be clean of any laser beams or motion sensors. Raziel removed his glove and held a damp twig up towards the metal fence, no warning shock. Raziels outstretched hand touched the metal fence to confirm it. No shock.
Well? asked an impatient cosmic.
Hmm, we cant climb it without special tools and strong arms, because its a tight mesh. I have my climbing claws, but it wouldnt be best to put a silhouette up against the horizon for them to see.
Cutting it would leave a hole and anyone seeing it would know we where here. I suggest we dig under. Raziel felt a vibration at his belt. Oh hold on.
The device indicated something running parallel to the fence on the other side; Raziel had already guessed what it was.
After the squad had dug a small trench of turf out Raziel carefully dug down to the object on the other side. As Raziel had guessed it was a seismic sensor. Geared up to detect soldiers dropping heavily on the other side after climbing the fence, it was a very old trick. Raziel cautioned everyone to be careful as he held the fence up with his rifle. As long as they slid carefully across it they wouldnt notice. They didnt want to be coming out of the base whenever a stray animal touched it.
After everyone had slid through cosmic held up the fence for Raziel to go through. After packed the ground back down to appear normal under anything but the closest inspection they moved on. Before long Raziel had disabled or avoided a variety of different devices. On this side of the fence the security was tighter and FA hadnt scouted this far.

After awhile Cosmic made a good decision and set them down for the day a fair distance from the fence that would be patrolled. It was a natural dugout with a large area of bushes and ferns that they could easily hide in. Half of them went to sleep whilst the other half kept watch and Fury signalled the other squads to do the same.
(Anyone from any of the squads gonna post? )

The Fallen Angels were having a good time even as the regulars marched across the valley.

Narm and Geist had brought along enough alcohol to start a bar, and Master was never without a sound system.

Narm and Jingo quickly became involved in a card game, while Geist tried to involve people into a rigged game of craps.

Argon and Daishi sat with Stormy at the CO table, drinking and discussing strategy.

"Well,"said Daishi,"according to Fury, they should reach the main compound tomorrow night, so we'd better sleep in tomorrow."

"Sounds like a good plan,"said Stormy,"but are you sure we have enough angles on the compound?"

"Well,"said Viper,"we have as many angles we can get from this cliff, unless you want some of us to set up on top of that overly exposed hill over there..."

"True,"said Stormy,"I just feel like we won't be able to pull it off when the time comes."

"Then drink more alcohol,"suggested Dai,"that always works for me. And relax, we know what we're doing..."

Cosmic took a deep breath. The heat of the day, most of which being blocked by his Stormtroope Armor, was a not much of a scorcher. Cosmic guessed around the 90s.
Cosmic turned from his view of the horizon and looked back towards his squad, who were setting up a small camp for the day.

Cosmic walked towards the troops to have a little chat with them. A little encouragement if you will.
When the troops saw their Squad Leader coming, they stood at Attention and saluted.
Cosmic made a quick salute and sat down on a nearby rock.

"Listen soldiers, I want to have a little word with you."
Cosmic made himself more comfortable.
The troops gathered around and waited for his words.
"We are in a situation where there is a risk of getting killed. This is not a simulator, this is real. If you get shot, the laser blast won't just disappear within contact of you, like a simulator with the safty's on. If you get hit, you're as good as dead.
"I'm just stating this as a reminder, I know that we've already been through a lot. Previous endeavors and near impossible situations. I know what your skill levels are and I am confident, once again, that we will complete this mission without any casualties, and with victory. Remember...when all else fails...we are faithful to the end. We complete the mission, no matter the cost."

The troops stood in their spots in silence, absorbing all that Cosmic had said. They all nodded, understanding this.
They now all had a sense of enlightenment. A sense of furture victory. Knowing that they could complete this mission without fail is a great feeling..
Raziel turned to leave, but before he got within five feet away from Cosmic, Cosmic called.
"Raziel. Come, I want to speak with you."
Cosmic got up and slowly walked to Raziel. Raziel turned his full body structure towards Cosmic and waited for him to say what he intended to say.

"I have a feeling that you have more information that what you are stating. Being a little secretive?"
Raziel just looked at Cosmic for about five minutes before speaking.
"I know that I might know a little more than the rest of you all, but you know that I would, at anytime, tell you anything that was important at once."
Cosmic nodded, even though he knew that Raziel was holding something back.
"Do you know the probable conscequences of holding back intelligence information from the Army?"
Raziel made a slow-short nod in response.
Cosmic nodded and said, "Alright. Do what you need to do now."
Raziel nodded and saluted.
Cosmic saluted back and Raziel went on his way.
Cosmic knew he could've asked more questions to make Raziel force the information out, but he had once been in the same situation as the Sergeant was, and he knew the feeling that Raziel was feeling.
Cosmic took a deep breath and looked at the sky.
The sun was at it's peak. Noon.
Cosmic decided to get into his own tent and try to get some sleep before the mission began. He knew that there was going to be a whole lot of stealth and strength needed for this particular mission.
He needed every muscle working perfectly and without hesitation.
Cosmic walked into his tent, the air, a little warmer in there but tolerable.
Cosmic lay on the ground with the mat beneath him and closed his eyes.
It wasn't the first time he had slept with his armor on, but it was also...tolerable.

90 degrees? You consider that a scorcher? It hits that here every day in the summer, but only if you measure it in the shade... by the river. Actually, it hits over 100 there, which gives you an idea of the temperature elsewhere. Scorcher my @$$

Whenever I feel very "hot", I consider that a "scorcher". But, if it makes you feel ANY better whatsoever, I'll change it...............Naah.

Well, I'm just here to be backup slicer and all-around message handler.

It's Raz's story but I suspect he's holding out for a better sampling of posts.

It's Cos' squad, I'm just here as an extra gun. Same for the rest of ya. I see no need to micromanage.

So, have a cigar, take a pull from a nicely filled brandy snifter and hang on for what I'm sure is a wild ride.

(couldnt be arsed to write this yesterday )
The whole squad was awake now; most of them were aching after their night of sleeping rough in hiding. None of them showed any more of themselves than poking their heads up to look around for a brief glance. It was dusk and there was still more than enough light for them to be spotted easily.
They were all checking over weapons and preparing themselves for the last section of their approach. None of them to Raziels knowledge had done this kind of thing except himself before. They were used to marching into enemy territory guns blazing. Trying to sneak through defences and security devices without being seen was new to them.

Raziel checked over his silenced pistol, it was a temperamental device. Raziel loved the fact that it was almost as silent as one of his knives. When this mission was finished he would have to buy one. He looked over any other equipment he was currently carrying; he had decided to bring all the equipment he used to take with him on hits. Most of the stuff was in as good a condition as it had been for years.
A lot of the weight he was carrying was the extra water the Fury had gone and collected from the locals, Raziel had been against the idea in case these people had Friends in the nearby towns. But when you were on your own water was one of the things you really needed. It takes litres to keep someone going and when youre not on your territory you cant pick it up easily.

A few hours later the platoon set out. The three squads that had dropped together were within visible distance...although they couldnt see each other except on occasions. Iron Horse were, according to Fury, moving along steadily down the riverbank.
If all went to plan now they would all come to within range of the base and then they would all reveal themselves and attack. IH would wait outside whilst the other three squads would go in. Wraiths would then secure the top floor whilst Panthers and Raiders would sweep the other three underground floors in an attempt to find intelligence officers who could be taken as hostages for questioning. Raziel and Fury meanwhile would find a terminal. Then Raziel would have to test his newfound slicing skills.

Raziel had to find and avoid several traps along the way. He knew how to disable them, but that would alert someone to their presence. They were now only half a kilometre from the base. From now on it would be the hardest to move unseen. Before long Fury had to give away the fact that FA were in the area. The fact that he would occasionally seem distracted and then advise that it would be better to go in a certain direction that would avoid unseen sentries gave it away slightly.

=================================================================

Sir one of the motion sensors on the east side was just triggered, the operator said.

Two uniformed men were sitting in a small oval shaped room. One of them was on a raised platform and on the comms to someone. The other was seated at a console in front of him. The room was incredibly clean and looked hi-tech. Across the rounded walls monitors displayed views of the interior of the base. A few showed images of the fences outside, but they mostly relied on motion sensors to keep them secure.

The fat officer closed down the comms and turned to regard the operator, who in turn looked back at his commander. The officer looked fat and lazy, he probably hadnt had much exercise in a long while. The other man however had a slim, intelligent look about him. He looked alert, probably why he was at his position.
What did the motion sensor read? Asked the officer.
Not a lot, could have been another one of those small animals we eat
The officer closed his eyes and leaned his head back, obviously considering this. After a few seconds he leaned forwards to speak to the other man. Worry lines creased his face; he looked like hed had a bad week.
Normally I would say ignore it, but with the meeting thats being held here we dont want any surprises. At best it could be an 8-man infiltration squadok put the garrison on full alert. The commander began to smile.
Infact if the Intelligence and military council see how securely were holding this place a promotion may be in order. The fat man rubbed his greedy hands as orders to secure the base were relayed

===================================================================

At the bottom of the complex the intelligence representatives were discussing what they were going to propose to the military side of the organisation. The intelligence still wanted to assassinate more key men and to learn more about the enemy. However the military were keen to start the offensive now, confident in the ability of their huge, devoted legions.
A man with a dark beard, slight of figure was sitting at the head of the table; he was possibly the second most powerful man in the intelligence wing. He was the one who took direct orders from the man in charge.
The other around the table respected him because it was he who had direct control over the assassins. In particular the man known only as the master assassin, by far the best assassin they controlled.

Now we need to be subtle with these military fools and anyway we know that if they plan to go ahead we can always remove certain individuals. He was just finishing his talk about the meeting tomorrow
The others on the table smiled briefly. They would always agree with him. However the talk of eliminating individuals was also a message to them, he was saying If you get in out way, your life matters not to us.
The other representatives then went on to give their reports about how affairs were going. They talked for an hour about recent hits and information they had gathered. After the meeting the lead representative walked into a back room. Standing in the shadows to one side of the room was a tall lanky figure, garbed in all black. He carried various wicked looking knives, a sword at his belt and a sniper rifle across his back. When he walked around to face the Intelligence official he moved with an ease that betrayed a good balance and agility.

Ah the job is completed? Asked the officer.
Would you expect and less? Replied the assassin. He had a silky smooth voice that almost purred, it was difficult to make out because his face was still covered.
Good, we will need you to stay here for a short time. I may need your services tomorrow if we fail the diplomatic way with the military wing.
As you wish. The assassin didnt care what he did; he was simply a killing machine. He was also incredibly good at what he did; all who knew him feared him.

===============================================================

Outside a whole platoon of troops were secretly positioning themselves around the base. Unfortunately they had come at a time of an important meeting and the garrison had been doubled. They were also now on full alert. Fortunately they didnt believe that a whole platoon of troops could sneak through their defences unheard. If the Stormtrooper could pull this off they would have some of the most important people in the unknown enemies ranks capturedand by pure chance.
Raziel meanwhile was calling Cosmic over: Sir there is one thing I think you should all know. My sources know very little about these people, as do we. However they do know that their troops are fanatically loyal, any wounded men are likely to pull grenades and blow themselves up.
Are you saying we should make sure theyre all disabled before moving on? Damnit man, if these guys suffer from suicidal tendencies I should have known about it a long time ago!

Raziel slid off as Cosmic relayed the warning. Meanwhile Storm platoon were beginning to prepare themselves. They were over a mile from the enemy, but they were configured sniper scopes and missile launchers to cover Wildcards attack. Viper watched through binoculars as the troopers moved into position. From his angle and in night vision he could easily make out their forms. He was more interested in the forms readying weapons inside the building.
Hmm theres quite a lot of them in thereyou think those troopers somehow managed to reveal themselves.
I wouldnt put it past that bunch of useless fools, anyway youve got some targets? Geist was currently doing some final adjustments on his sniper rifle.
Yeah... Viper then went on to relay the best targets for them to take out when shooting started. Geist checked them out whilst the others carried on with their preparations.
Viper raised his binoculars, for a while at least he would be acting as a spotter to Geist.

The signal was given and the Wildcards broke out from behind cover and opened up. Iron Horse picked off the enemy sentries with the suppressed pistols so that the enemy couldnt aim for their muzzle flashes. The others went for a more direct attack, throwing grenades through any openings in the buildings whilst keeping any potential shooters down with a constant barrage of blaster fire.
Suddenly Furys voice cut through the comms: Ok troops in five we break from cover and charge, Storm platoon will keep us covered
One, two, three.

The defenders believed it was their lucky day when these unknown aggressors charged the building. They were still recovering from the initial shock of a whole platoon of stormtroopers on their doorsteps.
Currently an officer shouted: To the death! Save the governor! Every man in the garrison echoed his call of to the Death. Raziel felt a shiver run down his spine.
They began to feel less confident however when FA started firing. Men were smashed against walls as unseen sniper rounds smashed their craniums. Missiles launched from far away shook the walls of the buildings giving them enough time to reach the walls

(Ok you have something to post about now. IH and FA secure the perimeter of the base whilst the others take on the Garrison of the base. Pls leave the master assassin character alone pls. If no one minds I want to set up an on-going nemesis for my character.

Cosmic heard the fire fight going on. His squad was poised for their own strike.
Cosmic was coordinating his strike in his mind when a laser blast nearly took out his shoulder. Cosmic rolled away just in time. A gut feeling possibly.
Cosmic already has his Stormtrooper Rifle out, so did the rest of his squad.

He motioned with one hand to get behind some of the small-sized boulders for cover while they fired back and slowly made their way to the Bunkers doors. Their mission was to get the Intelligence Officers from the underground floors, about 3 floors down.
Cosmic quickly got out his binoculars and took a look at their target. The Bunker was crawling with Infantry personnel with blasters at hand.
Cosmic put his binoculars away and grabbed his rifle. He across the field and at the building. He didn't have a scope so sniping would be terribly difficult, especially at night here. He decided that sniping was not wise and ordered his squad to follow him.

"There are several small boulders on that field over there. We need to move towards the Bunker as quickly as possible, also, using the boulders as cover. Hold you're fire until you are being shot at. At this time of night, it will be hard for the Infantry to spot us. Do not fire unless fired upon. Is that clear?"
The squad nodded.
"Alright. Let's go."

Cosmic looked beyond the boulder once more and quickly spinted across the field and towards a nearby boulder.
The Raiders followed closely behind Cosmic and got behind the boulders.
Cosmic looked over the boulder to make sure that they weren't spotted.
He then looked up at the building and got out his binoculars and took a closer looks.

"S***." Swore Cosmic.
The building was full of survalance cameras.
Cosmic got his squads attention and pointed to the survalance cameras.
"It will do us no good to run across the field to the Bunker if those cameras can spot us. We'll have to disable them somehow."
Raziel slowly duck-walked towards Cosmic.
"Sir, I've got my knives with me. I'm pretty sure I can throw my knives and disable the cameras without firing the rifles."
Cosmic nodded.
"Good. Do it."

Raziel took out a knife and quickly aimed and threw it towards a nearby camera.
The knife pierced the cameras shell and sparks emerged and flew all over the place. Raziel then disabled three more cameras, clearing their path.
Cosmic patted Raziel on the shoulder.
"Good work. Now, lets move."
Cosmic went first and quickly ran to the Bunkers door and motioned for his squad to run to the door as well. He covered them.
Cosmic looked at the door in front of him. He quickly tested to make sure it wasn't locked....it was locked.
Cosmic turned to Raziel.
"Have anymore thingamabobs that are quiet?"
Raziel started searching his holsters.
He had one more knife, but that was it.
"One knive."
Cosmic looked at the door. It was a door that required a personnel passcard.
"Give the knife to me."
Raziel did so and Cosmic took the knife and studied the passcard clearance lock.
He studied the edges of the lock and quickly used the knife to pry the lock and get a good look of the wires in the back of it. He used his knowledge of technical use and cut some wires and opened the door.
The door opened horizontally.
Cosmic nodded to himself and slowly walked into the building, along with his squad...

Argon Viper received the signal and immediately pulled the trigger.

At a rate of 2 grenades every 1.5 seconds, the automatic grenade launcher he was manning quickly exhausted it's first 40 round belt, leaving 40 smoking holes in the enemy fortress in 30 seconds.

Next to him, Tycho and Narm were doing the same thing, concentrating on the guard towers to deprive the enemy of their high scouting positions.

Next to him and below him, Master, Deathwookie, Hippie, Jingo, and Fish opened fire with automatic projectile weapons.

These weren't just the slugthrowers that the other VE troops carried, these fired bulles 8 inches long at speeds of over three times the speed of sound.

Unfortunately, there was only a finite amount of ammo, so after two minutes, the firing stopped, leaving the dazed and confused enemy in cover from an enemy that had ceased to be a threat.

Suddenly, Deathwookie let out an earsplitting roar, a Wookie hunting call.

Argon joined him, roaring an old Whiphid battle cry, and was soon joined by the human members of the FA.

As Daishi and Geist continued to snipe the enemy troopers, even through walls, the rest of the FA rapelled down the cliff and charged through the woodlands at the enemy.

Argon Viper carried his favorite weapon, a custom modified E-web Heavy Repeating Blaster.

It was modified to be carried, with a power pack strapped to his back, it had a 5 kilometer ranged scope, and a backup projectile weapon in case of ray shielding.

As Argon charged into the clearing in front of the base, the VE troops were being help back by a large wall where the enemy troops had made a last stand.

Their infantry weapons could not penetrate the wall, and they were under too much fire to let loose an accurate grenade.

Argon took this in in a second and, realising that the rest of the FA was still a full minute behind him, he got behind a large rock and raked the enemy defensive line.

Where pieces of the wall had chipped off under the VE fire, the wall itself shattered, killing the troops behind or on top of it, and slowly crumbling.

The VE troops, using his fire as cover, quickly advanced past the wall, quickly taking out the dazed troops behind it.

The rest of the FA arrived, and they began to assist the IH squad in setting up a perimeter as the other three squads prepared to penetrate the interior of the base...

(Just to keep it going)
Raziel had managed to retrieve 4 out of his 8 knives whilst Cosmic picked their way inside. And of course he still had the hidden knives and his two favoured combat knives.
The raiders entry was silent, they came in firing silenced pistols and trying to take out enemy squads from behind. Currently their mission was simplesearch and destroy. Raziel still couldnt find a terminal anywhere on this floor, Fury was staying close by his side.

Meanwhile whereas the raiders entry had been silent Snake was setting up breaching charges on one of the heavy blast-proof doors. He was being covered by a few more of the Angles who were still running the whole mile to the base. Unfortunately on the way some of them had set off the tripwires attached to flares. Each flare could light up a mile of ground for a minute and three of them had been set off, making some of the stormtroopers dive for needed cover.
Snake made a run from the building and shouted at his squads to Get the hell down! They got the idea. In the following blinding explosion a fair portion of the wall was taken out along with the door. Several of the defenders above the explosion were launched onto the Stormtroopers ranks. There were also the remains of many soldiers were had been unfortunate enough to be standing behind the door.
Lets move! he shouted. Panthers and Wraith squads raced through the doors, guns blazing.

Outside IH and FA carried on exchanging fire with the defenders, there were few casualties on both sides because they were all keeping well hidden. Fortunately the FA snipers who had remained behind were able to pick off anyone who presented himselfwhilst trying to save ammo.

On the inside of the building the squads were meeting heavy resistance. The garrison had set up a blockade around the one elevator that went to the lower floors. Using portable blast shields they have formed an almost impenetrable shield at the end of a twenty-metre corridor.
Cosmic had leaped bravely into the corridor and had managed to take two men out before being shot in the arm. A very angry Cos got up; the shot had glanced off his shoulder plate. Panthers were with them preparing to go down into the bowels of the base.

Meanwhile Wraiths were preparing to break onto the roof of the building to finish off the outer guards. DW smashed the door open and they poured out into the defenders, who were currently keeping hidden from enemy outside the compound

==============================================================

The Blast doors slid shut as the military and intelligence officials sealed themselves inside. They were all rather shocked by the recent events and the General was fuming.
I told you that this meeting should have been held in a more secure base on one of our planets! he raged
Well our gracious leader decided that it should be held here, I dont have any idea how they found out about the location of this meeting but I intend to find out. he was himself very worried, but years of experience allowed him to divulge no hint of his inner feelings. Infact it was by pure chance that they had attacked on the meeting night.
I believe that you personal guards are rated as the best we have? I hope they can live up to expectations. It should take even 2 platoons more than long enough time to get through them

Their idea had been to lock themselves in and call for help. Whilst leaving the Generals personal bodyguard of 2 elite squads to hold off the attackers.
The general was beginning to feel better: Yes a whole company of my best troops are on their way now, they should be here within the hour he smiled. We may yet survive

==================================================================

Get the General and intelligence officials and get out before reinforcements arrive whilst we try and slice the computers.)

The FA and the IH exchanged fire with the enemy almost uselessly, killing only one or two of them and suffering one wounded, Japer was hit in the arm with no damage other than a carbon score on his shoulder plate.

Argon and Deathwookie slipped behind some cover and whispered for a bit, then they broke off and started to go around the enemy through the jungle which the enemy was hiding in.

Both of them were masters of the jungle, Deathwookie from being a wookie and Argon from long years as the FA's forward scout, so they were able to approach the enemy troops with no one the wiser.

Suddenly, as they closed to within two meters, Argon drew his modified E-web and Deathwookie drew his battle axe, and they let out ear-splitting, blood-curdling, battle cries as they attacked the enemy.

Deathwookie charged into the right flank, battle axe flailing, pitching men left, right, and up as they were hit by the massive instrument of death.

Argon concentrated on the left flank, his arms catching all those close to him, landing most of them, with more than 25 broken bones, in the trees, as his E-web gave off shot after shot, pitching men as far as the FA and IH lines.

Within seconds, the entire enemy force was wiped out.

The FA and IH stood up, amazed at the carnage they saw at the edge of the jungle.

Suddenly, a sniper's bolt lanced out and tagged Deathwookie in the arm.

Argon quickly dragged him to the safety of the FA/IH lines, as Geist and Daishi returned fire, knocking out the sniper.

Suddenly, in response to their fire, eleven more sniper bolts lanced out, tagging targets all around them, splattering them with burning wood splinters and splinters of molten rock.

The entire VE line was behind the line before the first second was up.

"This could be a problem,"said Timber as Daishi, Geist, and Viper prepared to use their sniper weapons in a war of snipers...

A superheated rock exploded right by him, and he wasted no delay in wallowing on the relative safety of the ground. As many combat veterans know, to show ANY part of your body to a sniper, no matter how small, was drawing their attention, and told them you were a target. Tycho unslung his LJ-90 Sniper Rifle--a process which took a few seconds more than it should have, for he was on the ground, enjoying the nasty, dirty taste of the ground. Thankful that he had painted it a matte green-black pattern, he slowly slithered forward over the front lines. Out of his periferal (sp?) vision, Tycho saw his squadmates doing precisely the same thing--but not all had sniper rifles.

Once he cleared the line, he immediately sought refuge in a thickly covered area, to protect him. Using his training, he didn't look for the enemy snipers directly; instead, Tycho scanned the area using his periferal vision--watching for movement, not details.

A slight glint of metal caught his eye, and his saw the tiniest slither of movement. He then slowly and deliberately set up his weapon. Using the macromonocular sight, he zoomed in using infrared. The enemy sniper's form was fuzzed from all the animal life around it, the heat of the jungle. Setting his sight, he gently stroked the trigger, and a blood-red rope of energy exited the lengthy barrel, hurtling straight for an enemy. The shot connected with the man's throat, blasting most of it away, and the remainder was charred the blackest of black. The trooper's arms relaxed, letting go of his weapon, and he rocked forward and fell off his perch, falling to the ground of the jungle. Not moving, he contrasted with the wrigglings of worms, the scurrying of mice, and the bounding of foxes.

Another shot sprinted farther into the jungle, spinning its victim around violently, and when gravity reasserted itself, the enemy trooper landed flat on his back, knocking the rest of his remaining air out of him--not that he particularly cared or anything.

The losses did not prevent the enemy snipers from returning fire, and Tycho was almost the victim of tunnelvision--looking primarily through the scope, not looking at the overall scheme. Luckily the shot was hastily snapped off and missed by a few centimeters and fizzled in the ground a short distance away. Tycho quickly took off the muzzle of the LJ-90, balancing it on the rock. Making his way--slowly--around to get under a new piece of cover, a bolt snapped out and put a huge crater in Tycho's attacker's face. Tycho waved in the general direction of the origin of the blast, for it saved him--the trooper didn't see the scope anymore, and correctly guessed at the ploy, and had had a bead on him. Tycho hurried back and hastily put the muzzle back on, and looked out, noticing one man that was using his scope way too much. A huge hole erupted in his chest, with blackened edges ripped and ragged. The soldier fell open-mouthed and stayed down.

Those were Tycho's two kills. The rest of the allied force wiped out the enemy snipers quickly and efficiently, relying on the countless hours of training they had received...

Argon Viper stood up, the snipers having been eliminated, and raced Deathwookie to the top of the tree to scout the surrounding area.

Despite Deathwookie's natural Wookie climbing ability, Viper had learned well from years of combat, and the wookie barely won.

They took a look around, mountains to the west, vast plains to the north and south, and some foothills to the east.

"Daishi, Timber,"said Viper,"There's no sign of more enemies."

"You sure?"asked Timber,"what's the terrain?"

"Mountains to the west, plains to the north and..."

"What?"interupted Daishi,"What's to the west?"

"Mountains,"replied Viper,"why?"

"When we were coming in,"explained Daishi,"that area was flat plains..."

Argon and Deathwookie took another look and stared wide eyed in shock...

...approaching them was, not mountains, but three massive creatures.

Argon and Deathwookies eyes then adjusted to the scale, showing them the sheer size and general shape of the creatures.

They were four giant caterpillars with control towers on their backs, over 100 meters tall, and over 500 meters long.

Their exoskeleton covered each segment, and weapons jutted from them, obviously implanted, but no less deadly.

And on the back of each, there was an entire platoon of soldiers.

"Daishi,"said Viper as Deathwookie rumbled his agreement,"we may have some trouble coming..."

The men defending the elevator werent showing any sign of giving up at all. There was almost no way that the stormtroopers could get a shot in without making himself an easy target down the 2 metre wide corridor. Even worse was that the corridor widened out when you reached the end so there could be even more defenders concealed at either side.

Right, who has a good throw? Fury asked. Cosmic raised his hand and Fury explained his plan to get past.

Some of the defenders were enjoying themselves nowall they had to do was keep their heads down and blast away anyone foolish enough to reveal themselves and they could hold out here indefinitely.
Then all at once 2 stormtroopers stepped out into the corridor, guns blazing. Then 2 more revealed themselves and finally 2 more, lying down, rolled into the corridor. Shots thundered into the defensive barrier, but it held firm. However before the defenders could return fire and easily defeat the stormtroopers Cosmic came out from the corner, grenade in hand.
He threw the grenade well, it span through the air and landed behind the defensive barrier. At the same time Raziel rolled a smoke grenade half way down the corridor before diving for cover with everyone else.
The grenade went off between a group of 3 soldiers. All were killed instantly. Other soldiers were blasted right over the other side of the barrier. All that was left was the shouting of the still able soldiers and the groaning of desperate, maimed men.
Stormtroopers, rifles raised, emerged hauntingly through the smoke.

OK troopers, leave no wounded! I dont want any fanatics getting pulling grenades behind my back! Cosmic shouted out the gruesome order as the troopers finished off any last resistance. One of the soldiers tried to take them all out with a thermal detonator. But Raziel managed to stab him before the prone man could finish activating it.

===========================================================================

The flagship has signalled back, they have dropped into orbit now. 4 Rumblers have already been dropped. Within 30 minutes more than 3 companies of troops will be dropping in. it is reported that the Rumblers are making their way up the valley now, they should arrive and over power any resistance soon. The Comms operator reported.
Good, Good. Hear that general? We are going to be rescued with more than enough time. No need to worry any more.
The general looked visibly relieved, but he still didnt trust those damn intelligence officials.
The 2nd in command of the intelligence agency however was feeling slightly less confident than his outward confidence covered. Even if an entire regiment dropped down those troopers could still kill them all before they might be stopped. They would soon realise they had no hope of survival and might decide to take out anyone they could with them. And where had that damn assassin gone?
Damn the VE! he thought.

===========================================================================

On the floor above them the corridors were thick with blaster fire. On the 1st and 2nd floors down there had been very few soldiers in the building. However there were many small groups of soldiers on the 3rd floor down and they were fighting to the death.
Raziel, unable to find a terminal on any of the other floors had finally split away from the squads in search of one. Fury followed him, keeping close and watching for trouble.
Raziel finally found a terminal in a small private room. Probably for one of the officials. The door was locked, but that had never presented Raziel with much of a problem. The room was large and well decorated, there were two doors coming into the room. Raziel noted that the ceiling was made up of removable panels. Fury stayed by the door they had entered in whilst Raziel plugged in.

This terminal was wired into the main computer in the building Raziel found straight away, it was fairly simple to get past the first few security blocks, but after that it got more complicated. Slicing was difficult, even under normal conditions. Raziel tried as hard as he could not to get distracted, but he instinctively looked up whenever a weapon could be heard firing.
This may take some time! Raziel said
Please do hurry, sounds like we havent got much time.

Raziel starting running some of Yillamiens pre-written programs to try and get into the system faster. Fury intercepted a message and told Raz that Squads two and three were preparing to head down into the next floor, whilst squad four finished off any pockets of resistance left on this floor.
Got ya! Raziel had at least got into some of the computers sectioned off parts. Unfortunately he was still unable to access any information, he wondered if there was any. He was however in full control of the cameras, doors and any other parts of the base. Raziel found that these were normally the controls of a main control room underneath the bottom floor, but there was no one there. Fortunately.

Wait damnit! Raziel had just seen the bottom floor elevator. Around twenty men heavily armed and dressed differently were standing around it in waiting. Raziel immediately went to the comms.
No problem replied Cosmic. I already have it sorted!

Damn! Fury shouted.
Whats up? Raziel asked.
Just wait here! Fury left the room and closed the door behind him. The sound of blaster fire was all that Raziel heard coming from outside now.
Raziel looked through all outgoing/incoming transmissions and found that certain encrypted files had been sent here, and then sent back out with extra data later on. Raziel looked up these files and was asked for a higher-level access code. Obviously he had found the correct area anyway.

(Ok, finish off any remaining soldiers. Take the hostages and get out. FA and IH will have to slow down or do something about the incoming troops. We will have to escape before the reinforcements are dropped in. we will be leaving by a pick up flyer that will meet us up the valley.)

Throughout the battle, the advanced datapad called the Battle Analysis Computer had done nothing more than bounce against Fury's leg. With all the chaos erupting around the team, and the ever-changing view of the warzone, it could do nothing more than scream the electronic equivalent of "melee". It was never meant for much more than a pitched battle, but Fury had brought it along for one crucial reason.

As the Raiders were providing cover for Raziel's data spike, Fury could concern himself with assisting with certain problem areas, such as large concentrations of enemy in small, lightly protected spaces.

Since picking up an enemy A280 blaster rifle on Lotaith, he had gotten pretty proficient with shooting what he couldn't actually see. For example, his infrared sensor showed a team of seven enemy commandos trying to rush Jedi and Epic as they pinned down the nearest repulsorlift tube. At the moment they were hiding behind a wall and two pillars building up the courage any being needed before running towards a couple of spitting blasters.

Fortunately for Fury and the two troopers, the A280 didn't really care much for things like "cover" and "armor". High impact bolts worked through such complications, thus being the payoff for carrying the blasted heavy thing across this rock. A few well aimed shots and the seven saboteurs were taken care of, as well as the door to the lift and those behind it. Fury tapped Jedi on the shoulder and pointed to the ruin metal and plaster down the hall. "That cover I just erased also helped you. Don't be afraid to fall back if you need to. I think we're about done here." He stuck around for a few more moments as Epic collected blaster packs and grenades from the freshly killed.

During the firefight, the BAC had chirped with one of the actual helpful sounds it could make. Epic had by now returned and seeing as no other trouble spots had appeared, Fury took the time to pay attention to the datapad's new take of the battlefield.

"Oh frak!" he muttered. Kicking open the command channel, he got a hold of Stormtrooper 1026 and all the SLs. "Not to be a spoil sport kiddies, but there's a few landing craft headed our way. We're gonna need a couple things...amongst your otherwise dull activities.

"First, somebody find a way to get some anti-aircraft under our control and start trying to take out those incoming troops.

Second, since we seem to be without a way off this rock, if anyone finds a hangar, do not blow it all to smithereens right away. At least keep a couple freighters or something with enough speed and firepower to get us safely away.

"Aside from that, good hunting. I'll notify you again when we are done here. Fury out."

"What was that boss?"asked Geist.

Daishi then relayed to them what Fury had said.

"Okay,"said Daishi,"I've got a plan, you guys want to hear it?"

"Sure",said Stormy.

"Why not",said Timber.

"Okay,"began Dai,"We'll send Argon, Narm, and Master to take the AA defenses to shoot down to the troops, Tycho, Jingo, and Fish will take one of their hangars, and the rest of us will stay here and hold a fall back point."

"Okay,"said Japer,"I can polish this scoring off of my armor."

"Yeah,"said Stormy,"I agree with it too, on one condition."

"What's that?"asked Dai.

"I go with the hangar crew,"he replied,"I'm sick of sitting around letting you terrorists take all the fun."

"Heh, no problem,"said Fish,"we'll take care of him."

"All right,"said Dai,"let's go, Deathwookie, Geist, Hippie, let's show these people how to fortify an area..."

------------

Argon, Narm, and Master moved out, carefully moving toward the AA command.

Argon still carried his heavy E-web blaster, Narm carried a heavy assault rifle that fired depleted uranium bullets over 4 inches long, and Master carried a blaster version of an M-16 set to automatic fire.

Also, on their persons, they carried their usuall array of knives, explosives, holographic projectors, and a katana(japanese sword) each.

As they moved toward the AA control tower, they were suddenly aware that they were being followed.

They were in a room that looked like it belonged to an ancient castle, it was over five stories tall, with pillars spaced every 5 meters on both horizontal axes.

The room itself was over 100 meters by 100 meters, and the three FA soldiers wouldn't have chanced entering it if it weren't the only way to the AA control.

Suddenly, they heard something hum, and then an audible click came from their weapons.

Master was the first to guess what had happened, aiming for a pillar, pulling the trigger, and seeing that nothing happened.

Quickly ditching their now useless weapons, they drew their katanas, intent on destroying whatever was in the area.

Suddenly, five men exploded out of the gaps between the pillars, flying with all manner of hand to hand weapons pointed directly at the FA troops...
