[OOC: This subplot has until 1 Nov to complete. On 1 Nov the only person that may post to this story is: HG Crysus. If he does not close the story on 1NOV then on 2NOV GN Athran may close the story. After that time I will close the story (and I can promise a not to good ending if I have to do it). Also, only HG Crysus and GN Athran may start this run-on. After they start this run on everyone else may continue. Good luck on this mission troops.]

"Sir, High General Crysus is here as you requested."

Threeof4 glanced at his communications station, "Send him in."

After a few minutes Crysus walked up to Threeof4 and saluted him, "High General Crysus reporting as ordered."

Threeof4 returned the salute and continued, "Sit down General...As you know the Army was under review by Field Marshal Majere, Grand Moff Kadann, and myself. Due to your successful review we decided to go ahead with the construction of 2 capitol ships for the Army. One of those was going to be a massive troop holding ship and the other a quick strike ship. Since that time we have left our old homes, Majere came up missing, and as you can see a major battle is going on. Well I have a plan that will make our current enemies head home AND provide you with the ships you need to run the Army. The mission will most likely cost you some troopers so you have a say in whether or not you are ready to do this."

Crysus' immediate thought was, "HELL YES!" However, he suddenly remembered that his troops were involved on 2 different fronts already. With Operation Omega going on and the current problem in space this could spread the Army dangerously thin. Crysus decided he wanted more information before saying no to his boss. "What do you have planned?"

Threeof4 grinned, "I'm glad you asked. I know how involved you guys are at the moment. The longest part of this mission is going to be the hyperspace travel. There is an outpost nearby where we are at right now where new capitol ships stop for refueling before completing their destination. Since this is a civilian facility the only protection is the local police and the capitol ships themselves. I just received word that two capitol ships are going to arrive there. The first to arrive is Marauder Corvette. Shortly thereafter a Victory Class Star Destroyer Second Class will arrive. They will both be minimally manned with about half of the normal rebel troopers onboard. You will take only the amount of troopers that you need to complete the two teams necessary to capture these ships. I have ordered the ISD Crusader and a full contigent of Tie Droid Interceptor's to escort you. If you do this and get back quickly it should not seriously affect anything. As a matter of fact, it should pull some of the enemy capitol ships away. I want you to make it look like we will be back to strip the outpost of its equipment too. Secondly, as you know the Navy has split themselves into two fleets. One attacking and one defending. You will do the same thing. Before Majere left he explained to me that he has a lot of things planned for the future of the Vast Empire. This will spawn some serious attacks against the Vast Empire core systems. We must be able to fight and protect ourselves at the same time. The Corvette will act as your strike ship on offense and the VSD-II will act as your troop movement ship for defense. You have until the end of this month to complete this mission. We are suffering a lot of loss' right now so we cannot delay it long. At the end of the month if you have not returned we will be retreating into Imperial Space and more than likely loose Majere in the process of that retreat. You understand?"

Crysus stood up and saluted Threeof4, "Perfectly sir. The Army will not fail you."

After the brief return of salutes Crysus walked out of Threeof4's office to plan for this attack.

---- Executive Officers Quarters: Army ----

Athran, this is a great opportunity for us to get some ships to haul the squads around in. So this way we wont have to wait for the Navy every time. Its a sure fire way to deliver a blow to the enemy and to put us ahead at the same time, said Crysus.

If you think so, we are just fighting so many battles already. It is going to be a big strain on our resources to handle another one, replied Athran.

Itll only take two weeks at max, we can spare the battalion for that long, said Crysus.

Ok, do you want me to give them the orders or you? asked Athran.

Now what do you think you are the 2nd in command of the Army for? To sit around and look pretty, I think not, get busy! ordered Crysus.

Yes sir, said Athran as he turned off the chat with Crysus.

All right, I guess I might as well do this, said Athran to himself as he went to his assistant to tell them to record what he said and send it to the troops.

Troopers, we have been given a most impassable opportunity to recover some transportation for ourselves. I am ordering the Battalion to the coordinates included with this recording. Information needed about the area is also included with the coordinates. If you have any questions about the following just consult your superior officer, said GN Athran.

Your mission is to take Marauder Corvette and a Victory Class Star Destroyer 2nd Class. You will be on the ISD Crusader and arrive a few moments after the Marauder Corvette exits hyperspace. The ISD will then weaken the Marauders shields and troopers will be sent to overtake the ship. This should only take a total of 25 minutes at most. After that ship is taken we will await the arrival of the VSD and then use the Marauder and ISD to weaken its shields and eventually overtake it, said GN Athran.

You will not have to worry about anything but combat on the ship. The escort assigned to us is more than enough to take out any fighters and ships that will oppose us. The combat on the ship should also be minimal because they are both under manned. A secondary goal of this is to draw attention away from the main battle, we want it to look like we will be returning to take what we dont get the first time, Athran finished clearing his throat.

All troops are hereby ordered to proceed to the ISD Crusader and rendezvous with your squad. Thereafter you will depart for your mission. May the force be with you, concluded GN Athran.

One thing could be said about the Crusader, it had really relaxing acceleration couches. Fury had awaken from his second nap of the day and had gone to a starboard side lounge to enjoy the view. Hyperspace was really freaky to look at. After years of space travel in various parts of the galaxy, he had gotten to be a bit of a connosieur of spacelanes. Different colors, patterns, thicknesses, even the filmy gossamer webs that became the various hyperspace horror story monsters changed depending on where you travelled. The really creepy ones were the pirate lanes, close to gravitational masses and suns. There you could buy into the whole possessed space theories.

In any case, this lane was well-travelled and thus devoid of any mysteries. The only reason Fury was sitting here now was to enjoy a quiet cup of caf before the final briefing. It was sure to be an anxious next few hours.

Later, onboard the shuttle TrailBlazer

Efficient as always, the Crusader had exited hyperspace almost on top of the Marauder Corvette even as the smaller vessel was manuevering to dock with it's impulse engines. Two squads of troopers with TIE Droid escort were already landing in the refueling berth the corvette was originally aiming for in order to secure the facility. Squads 3 & 4 were prepped to land and board the Marauder in mere moments.

Already, the corvette had taken some hits from the Crusader, taking out it's shields and one stubborn missile battery (a most unwelcome modification given the circumstances). Now trapped in a very firm tractor beam grip with enough jamming sensors to put out a lighter, much less a turbolaser, the troopers were ready to take over their new strike ship. Resistance looked to be minimal and the whole force would be ready to take on the VSD coming in within the hour.

So far, so good.

Thus far the mission seemed to be a smashing success...and a crashing bore. The Marauder corvette was taken without much incident. Disembarking through the airlock had been more of a challenge than stunning the eight men and women who opposed the stormtroopers entry with some light blaster pistols.

On the station itself, two squads of troopers were escorting a large contingent of techs and taxation agents who were looking at inventories and tallying infractions. The goal was to make it look like a new beginning of imperial enforcement and nothing drew that conclusion better than a taxation raid. Besides, it looked as if a large profit was about to be gained from this venture.

Already the Marauder was drydrocked to repair the few injuries sustained during it's capture - and hunt for larger game had begun. A Victory Star Destroyer was a piece of work - no doubt about it. The goal was to be aswift boarding and capture with minimal damage. Easier said than done, but with six shuttles full of armed troops waiting to board the ship the moment it exited hyperspace, something was sure to get broken.

Alright, I would love to see some other troopers jumping in here. I would hate to die out on some backwater refueling station. Besides, we've got some great rewards in store if this comes off well.

Once inside the Sentinel-class shuttle, Fury was completely cut-off from the big picture. The other shuttles were out there doing their dutyas well; but until the conflict resolved itself, they might as well exist in another system. The shuttle pilot was kind enough to project the visuals of the entry route to the troopers in the back.

A clean, immaculate Victory Mark II exited hyperspace and made a pinpoint turn toward the refueling station. The Marauder corvette had by now been secured to a berth and was a hive of activity: tugs, tiny cargo freighters, rearming shuttles, and fuel bowser repulsorcraft swarmed around it. Sensing everything to be on the up and up, the VSD lowered shields and prepared it's own docking process.

Of course the space tug pilots guiding the VSD were by now very convinced that their VE military "advisors" were willing to kill them should they do a perform the slightest mistake. The same applied to the commo staff onboard the station.

Once ensnared in the grips of the station's tractor beams, the VSD killed it's engines and prepared for docking. Passive scanners showed no shields, no engines, no weapons. Four tugs (two starboard, two port) now took the opportunity to veer from their flight paths and hook up alongside the bridge superstructure. These shuttles were composed of technical staff who would compose the salvage crew - as well as Iron Horse and a couple other squads to assist in overtaking command and control.

Once the tugs hooked up, things became quite animated on the comm channels. The Crusader took this moment to come around the other side of the space station, all systems now active. TIE Droid fighters secured positions around the VSD and from hangars within the station, the six shuttles containing the rest of the VE strike force made it's way to the captive star destroyer.

Caught within the station's tractor beams, there was little the vessel could do but power up weapons systems. No propulsion or shields could be activated. Indeed it was a nerf shoot for the Crusader, which was laying down a steady stream of ion bursts over any weapon receptacle which showed any signs of activity. The few fighter craft which ran through this gauntlet were either dead in space from ion bolts or wreckage due to the TIE Droids.

By now, the shuttle was docking in the primary hangar amidships. While the initial boardings were to take command of the vessel, Squad 3 and their compatriots were to secure the rest of the ship. CPL Fury checked his power charge for the sixth time in the past ten minutes, stood up and braced himself as the shuttle slid into the hangar.

"Listen up, you know how to do this. The shuttle will provide us with some initial cover but we are the main firepower here. Fire and move. Spread out and advance according to your assignments. Do not use unnecessary levels of firepower. This will be our home if we do this right and anyone who blows up any vital components of this ship will be cleaning this entire vessel all the way back to VE-controlled space. Do I make myself clear."

"Yes, sir!"

"And knock that crap off. I'm not an officer." The troopers got a chuckle from that. Which was probably for the best and the shuttle was slowing to a halt. Jokes were about to be few and far between. The ramp hydraulics kicked in and Squad 3 began the process of overtaking the enemy.

Where is everybody?

Apparently Iron Horse was facing some tough resistance in overtaking the bridge. Comm chatter was minimal - basically all Fury could comprehend was inter-squad chatter. Resistance was spotty, but very effective when it presented itself. Already PFC DarkLord and LT Roach had been wounded enough to be taken back to the shuttle. Fury, Yillamien, and Marko were a bit the worse for wear themselves, but making forward progress.

Currently, PFC Marc - apparently immune to all harm - was walking point. The dunderheads in charge of this vessel had taken the idea that stormtroopers needed an atmosphere. Thus far, oxygen and gravity had been cut off to the last three decks Squad 3 has passed through. It was an inconvenience to keep swapping out oxygen canisters, but was not a major impediment.

The best part about those decks were the lack of concerted opposition. Engineering, maintenance, and the primary galleys had been mined and secured. Other follow-up teams knew the keys necessary to safety the mines, and Squad 3 was already too short of personnel to post any guards in their wake.

The most interesting part of the advance was the mess that zero-g left, especially in the galleys. Fury couldn't maintain silence as he watched some meat-like substance drift in front of his visor, "Remember what I said about cleaning up this mess. I mean, someone has to do it. I just didn't expect - this."

Two air canisters later, they emerged on an oxygen-rich deck full of enemy forces and the enemy blasters. PFC Marc patiently let Fury and the others trade shots with the enemy and assembled the T-21 repeating blaster he had lugged all this way. Down the hall from the rest of the squad, out of regular blaster range, he finally put out a chuckle over the squad net. That was the squad's cue to duck out of the way.

It wasn't an E-web, but damn! Marc had assembled the tripod and powered up the generators strapped to his pack. Literally, it was just about impossible for him to run out of energy using this method. It also had the added bonus of having a longer range than standard weapons. In short order, the corridor was soon filled with dead and wounded. This impasse defeated, the rest of Squad 3 got up from cover and proceeded to advance through the deck.

By Fury's estimation, at least 60% of the ship had been claimed by Squads 2, 3, and 4. All Iron Horse had to do was finish taking the bridge. One of the other squads could easily assist in that effort, but the Raiders had the rest of the ship between them and their comrades. If they were to be a part of the final act, they would have to hurry. The ship was as good as theirs...it just needed to be taken as intact as possible.

PFC Yillamien had found a way to succeed yet again. Taking this lull in the action to practice his slicing skills, he was currently positioned next to an all-access infoport that was previously darkened. Now, it was full of activity and bare wires. "CPL Fury, sir, whatever....I've managed to slice through the security and now have access to the original Rendili blueprints to this particular vessel. Pretty standard stuff. I believe I can find us a better path topside. We just play the enemy's game on them and these prints and a few of my special codes will do the rest."

"Sounds great. Secure your gear troopers. We've got some ground to cover."

---- Onboard the Victory Class Star Destroyer 2nd Class ----

Good work guys, the only thing left is to help Iron Horse squad take the bridge, now lets haul some *** , ordered Fury. We can be there in 5 minutes if we run.

The Squad quickly assembled behind Fury who took the point. He ran down the hallway they just cleared and into the next room where they met no opposition but an engineer cowering in the corner. They mercifully let the engineer live to help repair the ship when they where done capturing it. The squad ran down the corridors of the ship quickly taking out any personnel that offered any opposition.

Just ahead is the bridge, shouted Fury over the com.

I hear very heavy fire, replied a Private First Class.

Ok, two of you come with me, the rest go up and assist Iron Horse Squad, commanded Fury.

Tell TJ, Ill be coming in behind the enemy. We can trap them, and then flush out any thing thats left, said Fury. Move out!

Fury and two other troopers started to climb into the ventilation system. They crawled for around 10 minutes until they could faintly hear fire. They dropped down and started retracing the ventilation system they just crawled through to lead them back to the fight. They came up right behind a barricade of rebel officers trying to make a stand against the Elite Iron Horse squad. They quickly throw a concussion grenade and hit the deck. The bridge had finally been taken. The ship was almost theirs!

Thank you very, very much General

The final act.

At least Fury hoped so. As the blast of the concussion grenade whoomped even through his helmet, Fury caught his breath for a moment. Yillamien had performed his wizardry and had first severed bridge control to the decks below the superstructure. He then killed the atmosphere to all levels out of primary control. To make matters worse, power was selectively cut off to most of the ship. Victory sometimes had a grisly price.

It was a horrible run for Squad 3. As Yillamien activated power to follow his open comm signal, flashing emergency lights showed a macabre scene of ships defenders turned victims as they gasped for breathe that no longer existed. The entire squad went silent and few shots were fired - were necessary for that matter. Only a few rebels had managed to obtain breath masks. And to be honest, a few gasping souls had been dispatched by shots from the squad members themselves.

Finally, with a grunt of assention, Yillamien stopped by a turbolift and activated it's power source. As with all lifts they had passed, the body count was high here as desperate people tried to find a way to cheat death. Fortunately, that particular battle was lost here.

The turborlift ride had taken them to the atmosphere-plentiful section of the ship. Thankfully so as Fury was running low on O2 canisters and nerves after the past few minutes. Now fighting? He could handle that. He looked down the hallway and saw no opposition. Yelling the troops on for encouragement, he led the charge, pausing only to point at blaster at a frightened engineer. The squad then split, Fury taking Yillamien and Marko with him, half-wishing he could have taken PFC Marc, or at least his repeater, with him.

In any case, breath gathered, grenade exploded, Fury dropped from the ventilation port, closely followed by his comrades.

"Frak!" he screamed and jumped back, knocking both Yillamien and Marko over. One rebel soldier had just turned in their direction, yelling in agony and apparently blinded.

"What?" yelled Marko, "the grenade didn't work?"

The troopers looked ahead of them and saw slumped bodies. "Nah, it worked. Just keep your damn heads down."

Blasters held forward, they began to move, then stopped. A heavy blaster barrage moved in their general direction, hitting two more rebels in the back as they ran, and now fell, in front of the trio.

Behind them were three suits of armor - two red, one a dingy white. PFC Marc had finally taken a hit, though minor, and was flanked by CPT TJ and PFC SiriusV. "Anybody know where the owner of this Star Destroyer is?" asked TJ.

Fury got up from the deckplate and gave what was more or less a proper salute. "Sure thing, Captain. I think he's behind those blast doors," pointing about twenty feet behind them.

"Yillamien, see if you can pipe CPT TJ over the comm system and get these losers to surrender."

"Right away. If you'll follow me sir."

Mind you, I asked TJ for his permission to put words in his mouth. I hope he approves of this.

Zero Hour

PFC Yillamien peeled off the battle computer strapped to his left leg and jacked it into the info portal near the primary bridge entrance. Squad 2 was positioning itself to prevent exit from other access routes. Having gone through less ordinance than Iron Horse, Squad 3 was preparing to make a forced entrance if necessary.

Timing was critical. Once Yillamien stripped away the comm jamming enabled by the VSD's crew, messages from the Crusader came pouring in. CPT TJ was dealing with one irate officer now.

"Damn it, I don't care about levels of resistance. We have to perform a quick strike here. Station boarding crew is extracted. We've laid in all kinds of cargo and supplies and gained a huge amount of credits from fines levied. The Marauder has exited drydock and is flying escort.

"Meanwhile you've been incommunicado for hours now. I've got exploration teams hogging up hangars because no other place on the ship seems to have atmosphere. We are running out of time here. You have ten minutes to either end this situation peacefully or go in blazing and we'll scuttle the ship. Understood?"

"Yes sir," said TJ tensely. "Boarding team out."

"Damn it," he said, hitting the bulkhead. "Patch me into that bridge, trooper," was the order to a clearly shaken Yillamien. To lose the ship this close to it's capture....

Yillamien's fingers blazed across the keypad, calling up deep-seated components and disabling code sequences. "All ready sir," he said, looking up to the attack commander. "Channel eight on your comm unit."

TJ audibly took a breath. The assembled troopers, all of whom heard the transmission from the Crusader tightened their grip on their blasters. No one was going to lose this vessel for them. "Attention VSD bridge. This is the army commander of the forces now controlling the majority of this vessel. We are under orders to gain control of this vessel in a swift and efficient manner withing the next...seven minutes. If you do not open the primary blast doors and allow us entry, we have two options. First we can blast our way in and render this entire vessel inoperative. Or we can - and will - cut off all atmosphere to the bridge level and let you die in there. You have no doubt seen visuals of the belowdecks progress of our troops. Do not attempt to test my veracity or my patience. You have one minute to comply with my demands. Imperial leader out." He signalled for Yillamien to cut the signal.

"Fury, just in case, get your troops ready for an armed rush. Stun if you can, blast anything that doesn't go down."

"Yes sir. Squad, two fire teams. Go for the flanks and let Iron Horse hold the line as we lead the advance. Pincer any rebels in and knock em....."

The blast door slid open at this moment, then the access gate itself. Blasters at the ready, the troopers of the Vast Empire watched as a middle-aged man in a Brigadier Commodore's uniform came out, followed by thirty techs, soldiers, and officers.

He went directly towards TJ and stopped. He then handed over a cloth covered object - a blaster pistol wrapped in a New Republic battle flag. "Captain...is it?" TJ nodded. "This ship is yours. We surrender this vessel in accordance with the guidlines of the original Coruscant accords." Hmmm...fearful of their safety, they involved the Old Republic's prisoner rulings.

"Fair enough, Commodore. I accept your surrender in exchange for all necessary codes and access profiles necessary to operate this vessel and claim it as captured stock of the Vast Empire."

"We have a deal then. I and three of my staff will remain onboard to assist with the journey to wherever you intend to take us. The remainder of my crew will be your prisoners until such time as an exchange or ransom of some kind is made."

"Damn right," said TJ. He pointed at four troopers. "Lead these prisoners to a shuttle hangar. Yillamien, advise the Crusader that this vessel is under our command. And bring up the atmosphere on all decks. Squads 2 and 3, I want a complete sweep of all decks just to make sure that all enemy forces are captured. Commodore, if you be so kind as to call out your forces, you could alleviate further bloodshed."

"Excellent job troops. We now have our own strike vessel. Mission accomplished."

Fury, you're nuts man... but you will be rewarded for it! Excellent writing.

"Update please..." Crysus asked of High Colonel Craff Lennox.
"Well, it seems we have just taken the VSD-II, sir." Craff replied joyfully.
"Excellent! Man I really wish I could just run in front of the squads sometimes, but I would just get shot, and then where would we be?" Crysus spoke, mainly to himself.
"Well, Athran would assume command, and then-" Craff began to speak as Crysus quickly waved his hand giving a muted 'Shut up...'

Crysus rose from his seat on the Crusader and walked to a window. The ship was still in 'perfect' condition. It might take a while to scrape the carbon scoring off of the walls, but still, a fine ship. He could see a small transport leaving, undoubtably the prisoners that were taken.

"Shall we go to OUR ship?" Craff asked.
"Indeed." was his responce from the Prefect.

[Later]

High General Crysus, General Athran, and Fury (sorry you didn't put your ID line in your posts so I dont know what rank you are) stood in front of Grand Moff Threeof4 waiting for him to reply. After a few more minutes Threeof4 looked up at the Army Officers standing before him, "Our technicians just finished looking at both ships. It seems as though the VSD's hyperdrive was damaged in the process of taking the capitol ship. It will have to be repaired once we get our shipyards back up at our new home. For now you can get familiar with the Corvette. Now I want to make myself clear of something. These ships will be commanded by an Army Officer. However, these ships are at the disposal of the Navy if our systems are being threatned. Technically they will be escorts for the Mustang. However, you may use the ships in any strike mission you deem necessary. The Corvette is a very quick and powerful ship to deliver a lot of troopers in a hot spot. The VSD will be a great ship to transport your people and provide enough protection when necessary. Congratulations on a successful mission.

All the while this conversation was taking place Fury had no idea why he was here. Yes, he liked being privy to conversations with the High Command but he normally had to find out his information through other means. Finally a voice brought Fury to attention, "Fury, do you know why you are here today?" Suddenly thoughts of, "What did I do now?" ran through his mind. Thinking of nothing Fury asked, "No sir."

Threeof4 smiled, "I miss the days when all I had to do was kick butt and take names later. Like you I was extremely active and for that I was rewarded. As my activity increased I was rewarded with many promotions and awards. Now I stand before you today as a Grand Moff in charge of an organization of over 200 members. Do you see that set of armor behind me?"

Fury quickly looked behind Threeof4 to see a gleaming set of what looked like Blood Red Stormtrooper Armor (note: NOT Royal Guard Armor - but red Stormtrooper Armor). "This armor was presented to the most elite Stormtroopers in the Imperial Empire. It has all sorts of goodies that I think you will come to enjoy."

Fury was completely shocked as he stared at this armor, "M-me sir?" Threeof4 stood up, grabbed the armor behind him and handed it gently to Fury, "Yes Fury. Through your actions today you, and ONLY you, are being presented with a complete set of highly classified Elite Stormtrooper Armor. I have taken the precaution of making some advancements to it. Nobody in the Vast Empire has such highly sofisticated armor as you do now. I would like for you to use this armor and remember that you are among the best that the Vast Empire has to offer. Congratulations Trooper." Threeof4 stood back and saluted Fury who just stood there looking at his armor. Finally Fury realized he was being saluted and he returned the salute. Threeof4 quickly returned to his battle planning, "Dismissed."

Fury thought about saying thank you and figured that he better leave before someone took his new armor away from him. Without even waiting for further congratulations Fury ran to his quarters to try on his new armor.

Crysus walked out of Threeof4's office with a smile, "Well, that certainly made his day. The Army is really looking good dont you think Athran?"

"Yea, he didn't even stop for us to offer and buy him a few rounds, hehe."

"Well, I wish him the best of luck. He will definately need his new armor. I hear rumors that things are really starting to heat up."

Crysus and Athran walked towards their awaiting shuttle. They had a lot to do on their new Corvette and VSD. Although their VSD will have to be towed until it can be repaired.

It was a very good day indeed for the Vast Empire's Stormtroopers Corps.
