Its not the idea, it what happened. Its like getting ICs randomly. I don't think we should use tbe BBs for this because not everyone has a fair chance of it.

And this was completly fair...everyone registered on the comnet had a chance, and before completing training, the trainee has to be on the comnet, therefore everyone in the army had a chance...it was just a matter of being in the right place a the right time. That was the point of it being a random act of getting ic's.

You have to realize it takes a lot of time to set up competitions like that and to get ppl to run them. What I did here was I gave you another way of getting ic's without waiting for a competition to show up.

So if you don't like it...ignore it.

Yes, I have payed attention. When giving suggestions, one throws EVERYTHING out for eval. I know we already do that. Excuse me if my mIRC crashes my computer.

I meant "unfair" as in the random act. ICs shouldn't be given out so easily. I believe they should be given out as a reward. Lets say one week we have a "short fanfic" contest, the next we give ICs to the most active, and the next week we give ICs to highest rated on the Battle Board (as soon as its put back up), and every so often to the most active division of VE (army, navy, etc.) as an incentive to stay active.

Anakin--to you 500 ICs is not much at all, but for me, I consider it a moderate addition . I didn't explain myself fully, ICs should be given out as an incentive for people to stay active. Promotions are not handed out right and left.. to say so is to insult not just the Prefect and the XO, but the entire High Command (as well as your squad leader and platoon leader who suggest promotions to the HCA). It is the job of the HCA (among other things) to keep track of who hasn't had a promotion in a while and who deserves one. We have kept track of you, Tycho, as well as your squadmates and others in the Army. We see when good work needs to be rewarded.

I think you took what I said the wrong way. Please let me clarify: I never said promotions were handed out right and left. I never insulted any of the aforementioned persons. What I said (paraphrase) was "since you really can't give out promotions right and left, I suggest that as an incentive for doing things ICs should be given, but not for everything, only things worth a reward. It doesn't have to be a big one, and it doesn't have to be given out often."

I never tried to or meant to insult anyone.

I have a feeling I just torpedoed my career.

Alrighty. A couple things. The great thing Colonel Anakin did here was freely dispense some funds that most people wouldn't otherwise see from normal pay. Now be that through a competition or just on a lark, but it's an attention grabber - as is obvious by the responses here.

Now, even I wouldn't scoff at 500 ICs. I've got rank and title, but coin is coin, just like in RL.

So be it random, organized, or back to the "1000 ICs to the person who can answer this next question" thing that used to happen in IRC a lot, it doesn't matter. What DOES matter is that people are being active.

Which means every idea counts towards that end. Speaking your mind doesn't necessarily jeopardize your career (Tycho, it's not like you tried to sabotage and take over the Imperial Center store) but to complain of not being in the right place in the right time is akin to being those folks who complain about the lottery but never play. Or the people who got a president they didn't vote for...wait, bad example.
