~Briefing Room~

Colonel Sierra Talon Taurus cleared his throat as he came to the head of the briefing room. The already fairly quiet voices ceased. Talon nodded as he pulled some papers from a folder. This mission is by no means an easy one. As you all know, this is for the status of Elite. Unknown terrorists have raided a small embassy on the planet Tadath and the ambassadors have been taken hostage. As non-combatants, they did not even raise a blaster in defense, so everyone should still be living including the terrorists. The Fallen Angels must enter the embassy in any way possible without being detected. If any alarm is risen, any remaining hostages will most definitely be shot. There are 4 ambassadors and a few workers in the embassy. Get as many as possible out.
The embassy itself has a fairly up-to-date security system that tracks motion, heat, and noise. Im sure you boys know how to get in without rocking the building with some explosives. Remember that surprise is everything in this mission.
Colonel Talon picked up a stack of datacards from a box on the floor and passed out one to each trooper. Second Lieutenant Kuroshi popped his into a datapad and watched as information ran by the screen. A basic blueprint for the embassy, equipment given, mission objectives, and a few other odds and ends were at his fingertips. With a shrug, Kuroshi selected Equipment and watched as the screen turned black. White text flooded the screen shortly after and the list showed as follows:

-= Fallen Angels - Hostage Recovery/Terrorist Takeover =-

Mission Objective: Rescue Hostages and return them safely, and destroy remaining terrorists

Equipment:

- Standard Stormtrooper gear
- 4 extra blaster packs for each trooper
- 4 flash grenades
- Belaying rope and harness for each trooper
- Slicertool
- Lock-pick set
- ID-card
- Grappling hook

-= Ryloth Technologys Datamaster 5000 =-

"Alright Geist," Kuroshi said, "Got any idea how to pull this off?"

"This would be a lot easier if we had our normal equipment." Geist responded. "Oh well, If I were the terrorists, and I used to be one so I can say this with a reasonable amount of accuracy, then I would keep all the hostages together where they could be watched by a relatively small number of terrorists. The more spread out they are, the more hostages can be expected to disapear."

Geist looked at the stormtrooper armor he had been assigned, and began pulling things off of its utility belt, concealing them in various places in his field jacket. He also removed his captains bars and dropped them in a pocket.

"I think we should leave the stormie armor behind. Stormie armor isn't even good enough to stop a blaster anyway, all it will do is advertize us as imperials. The only way to do this job properly with the gear we have is to do it quietly. My manual slicing is a bit rusty, but I can get us in the door without any trouble. Then we just have to find the bad guys and kill them so fast they can't do anything to us or the hostages. Typical smash and grab."

"I wish we had some real SWAT gear,"said Viper,"but I agree with Geist, stormy gear isn't good for stuff like this. I say we scout out the building, find the hostages, bust out the flash grenades, shout get down, and fire at chest level."

"What good will that do,"asked Ferox,"We'll just kill the hostages along with the terrorists..."

"No, consider this, when we shout get down, who's gonna get down and who's gonna get up?"replied Viper.

"He's right, but I don't want Narm, Tycho, Ferox, or Deathwookie going in on this. Narm, Tycho, you guys will guard the entrance. Ferox, Deathwookie, you guys are just too loud to go scouting. The rest of you will be going indside."said Daishi.

"Oh, come on boss,"said Narm,"let Ferox and Deathwookie guard the door if they're gonna be left behind anyways, why torture us?"

"Yeah, why torture all of us?"added Tycho.

"Wait a second..."began Ferox.

"Hold it,"Daishi broke in,"Narm and Tycho are right, they can come in the building with us. Ferox, Deathwookie, sorry, but unless you can prove to me on the way there that you have enough experience, I'm going to have you guys stay behind. Now let's get going..."

"Grrr, grrr, growwl, grrummmr." The deathwookie asked.

"Because you would eat the hostages along with the terrorists." Geist replied.

The deathwookie shrugged innocently. Geist shook his head. "Now you promised to behave if we let you out of the cage. I expect you to do so."

The Fallen Angels reached a position well out of sight of the embassy. Geist and Kuroshi found a building to observe from out of sight.

"They have some guards out." Geist said.

"That is to be expected." Kuroshi responded. "Should we take the front door?" He asked half jokingly.

"I'd rather not go in through the front, since there will be a camera on it and its the most obvious place. We could try a window into one of the offices, but that would mean worrying about the guards. In any case we would have to take them out quietly." Geist fingered his combat knife.

For the glory of the Fallen Angels. This post written by:
The Head Terrorist
Great Death Leader of the Fallen
The Chief Instigator of Pain and Terror
GN Daishi(2LT Kuroishi)

*Kuroishi's prebattle breifing, immediatly after Talon's briefing*
Kuroishi had only gone into combat twice without his Varneck Marine Armor but to do this he needed something else anyway, because by now his armor had become a calling card of the Fallen Angels.

Kuroishi still didn't like the equipment list but that still didn't mean he couldn't grab a few enhancements from his cooperative stash with his other self.

Kuroishi handed vibro blades to each of the Fallen Angels.

"Sorry that's all I can spare for silent killing weaponry." Kuroishi said as he passed out the last vibro knife.

Kuroishi carefully looked at the sea of faces that were the Fallen Angels. This time they wouldn't have the luxory of calling in some of the support they had stashed away elsewhere, frak Kuroishi wouldn't have been suprised if he were the only one to actually know what the Fallen Angels could get a hold of if they had to.

"We'll be taking the Royal Barkalounger for this one, the Sweetums would be spotted before we even got anywhere near the planet. The Royal Barkalounger was built for stealth and that will be of esseance in this mission. If anyone would like any specail armaments, the Royal Barkalounger does house the cooperative stash I maintaine with my other self with the Sweetums providing backup storage so that not everything is lost if the Royal Barkalounger is destroyed." Kuroishi said as he began a mental review of the impresive, but unusable for the most part on this mission, arsenal he had.

"Right boss. Now my only question is how are we going to get to the dang embassy, we won't be able to land and we'll be spotted for sure before we can even get close." Tycho piped up.

"Simple, we use what we called the "Gopher Plan" as we called it in the VPDF. We came up with this tactic a long time ago before we had any reliable infiltration armor. Basicly all we have to do is make sure that certain criteria are preasent and we won't know that until we get to the system. As a back up I got another plan. We'll be able to bring the Sweetums part of the way with us so we'll be able to practice a method of deployment used by the second regiment of the old POD." Kuroishi responded.

"You're nuts you know that." Geist replied as he immediatly picked up on what Kuroishi was hinting at.

"What is this alternate method of deployment?" Narm asked from his sabacc table.

"It's called downloading, if it works the enemy will have all of thirty seconds to stop us from entering the building, another four minutes to stop us from rescuing the hostages, and about fifty five seconds to stop us from leaving the building." Kuroishi responded.

"Well that didn't tell me much." Narm replied.

"Downloading means we go in our transport at breakneck speeds at tree top level and jump out right on top of the enemy and slaughter them before they have a chance to react, that is if we survive the drop." Geist replied.

"But it will be a bit different as the Royal Barkalounger would come in unpowered at night, thus increasing the chances of success, but let us hope that we can use the Gopher Plan none the less." Kuroishi cut off Narm before he could say anything.

Kuroishi grabed his oldest relic from his collection of fire arms, an ancient slug throwing sniper rifle. Kuroishi knew that it would come in handy, esspecially in the Gopher Plan.

"So what is this Gopher Plan?" Tycho injected.

"One person in the best infiltration armor we could muster would go ahead of the group with binocs and every peice of passive detection gear we could give them. A second would aslo be given this equipment except for the infiltration armor and would stay near the third person and provide triangulation on any sensor pods or patrols. The Third person would be equiped with this rifle with special rounds. I don't have more then a clip of them, so this plan may not work. The special rounds were really recievers hooked to a slicing kit by a special comm frequency. The patrols would just be avoided by timing and if neccessary elimination. Then the fourth person would start slicing into the sensor network and creat a feed back loop based on the timing of the patrols. Narm as our best slicer that job will fall to you. It is a tossup between me and Giest who is the better sniper, but I know for certain I'd make a better seeing eye gopher. Argon as our most capable scout, you'll have point. Everyone else gets to stay frosty until we get to the base. Now unless thier sensor network is interlinked we'll only be able to place ten of thier pods on a feed back loop. So if they got more we'll have to be even more inventive. Now unless there is something else I suggest you all familirize yourselvs with the blueprints and the surrounding area of the target." Kuroishi replied.

Kuroishi knew that either plan was a long shot but right now he didn't see many other options. He just hoped that Giest could shoot well enough with his gun to hit the pod light enough not to damage it but hard enough to get the round into contact with the pod's onboard computer.

Kuroishi marched the Fallen Angels onto the Royal Barkalounger and easily convinced the appropriate officers that he was cleared for launch, it definetly helped that no one could tell which one was Daishi and which one was Kuroishi.

The Corvette Sweetums had been the command ship of the Fallne Angels for a long time, and since it only had to carry the Fallen Angels, it's crew, and a few fighters it had loads of space for other facilities aboard that many ships didn't have. Kuroishi was pretty sure that the Mustang didn't have a sauna but then again he never checked the computer system to be sure and he sure as frak didn't go poking all over the Mustang for one, it would have taken too long. All the rec facilities were good but what made the Sweetums so near and dear to the Fallen Angels was the training area they had managed to install when the ship first became the Fallen Angel's command ship.

Other resources were also available on the Sweetums. While by the very nature of Marine armor could easily slip past thermal detection, that didn't help much against other forms of detection. Kuroishi did have his Varneck Marine Armor which wouldn't show on magres either but it would set off power source detection grids like crazy. For this they needed something they had managed to obtain from the rubble of Eridani, some of Amon Nezumi's mimetic armor. They only had enough to make one full suit and no one was sure if it would actually work in real combat after all the patch work that had to be done with it.

All the Fallen Angels could do now was set course and train for thier operation until arivial.

"Got you!"shouted Argon.

"D*mn,"replied Tycho.

They were in the CRV Seetums' training area, practicing geurilla warfare.

"You got lucky,"said Tycho as he walked up to Viper,"you wouldn'ta gotten me if that last wild spray of yours had been a little less random."

"Yeah, but it was,"replied Argon,"you really should start wearing an ysalamir in these, I know that the VE refuses to admit we can use the force, but you should at least listen to Geist, Master, and Fish."

"True, forgot that you could do that..."said Tycho,"want to try again?"

"Sure,"said Argon,"we should have about 15 more... oh wait, never mind, here they come."

Daishi, Geist, and the rest of the Fallen Angels were enterring the training area at that point.

Narm got up from the spot where he was stripping the tech control officer of some credits and saluted, Argon and Tycho followed suit.

"Wow,"said Daishi,"that's the most respect I've gotten in all my years of leading the POD. Three salutes. That is the saddest thing I've ever heard. Okay, now to business."

"We're going to do a hostage rescue sim,"began Daishi,"We have found thirty members of the crew who use this training facility regularly, and have become pretty good at terrorist methods. They will be simming against us, with holographic hostages. We will have to get in, and out, within the time, with all the hostages, and without any living terrorists noticing. Got it."

"Yes sir!"came the reply.

"All right, let's get ready for anti-terrorist warfare, for once..."

Narm and Kuroishi were throwing ideas back and forth on the way to the hostage recovery sim when they heard a slight chuckle behind them. Both spun to see who it was only to find Colonel Talon coming out of the shadows with a grin on his face. Both men dropped their jaws because they knew that they would have heard about anyone trying to land on the Sweetums. Kuroishi checked, and noticed that his ysalamiri was nowhere to be found. Talon was the first to speak. "The High Command knows your complaints of the equipment that you were given. We thought that the Fallen Angels could do this with two spoons if they lived up to their talk, but we gave you what we thought you would need. I don't like the idea of you getting your own equipment for something like this though."

Kuroishi cleared his throat and said, "We would not be able to get those hostages out effectivly, or safely without better equipment."

Talon sighed and said, "Ok, you will get better equipment, but not your own. You may keep the vibro-knives, but you will be given what you will need." At that, he snapped his fingers and the entire Fallen Angels squad was in the breifing room again. This time, there was some better equipment to be found here. Talon quickly ran down the list of the equipment:

Your vibro-knives
1 sniper rifle (conventional.. ok, so I gave in there, it's one of Kuroishi's)
4 T-21 Repeating Rifles
Standard Stormtrooper equipment (yes, you get that again)
Grappling hooks
Rope and belaying equipment for each trooper
Slicertool
Box-o-fun (If you do manage to get inside, this baby will knock out the security cameras, etc and will do some other fun stuff of that sort [check label] when plugged into the embassy's system)
Light body armor (pretty much a vest you can keep stuff in)
5 flash grenades
5 smoke grenades
2 extra blaster clips per trooper
1 cambot
1 standard Vast Empire dropship with parachutes for everyone(you may use it as you wish, but do not crash it, as any damage done will come out of your paychecks)

With that, Talon faded back into the shadows, leaving the Fallen Angels to scratch their heads.

Geist looked at the sniper rifle. "Someone's been in your equipment locker, boss." He handed it to Daishi. "You've got more practice using a weapon without an ubermunch targeting system then I do."

Geist grabbed his two spare powerpacks. "Grenade, if we get caught in a shootout where we need more than one powerpack, we're doing this wrong."

Geist checked his vibroknife and other equipment. "I'm ready to go, shall we?"

For the glory of the Fallen Angels. This post written by:
The Head Terrorist
Great Death Leader of the Fallen
The Chief Instigator of Pain and Terror
GN Daishi(2LT Kuroishi)

With Talon's display Kuroishi decided to behave himself and not dig through the equipment lockers. Kuroishi also knew that he wouldn't be allowed to take the Royal Barkalounger.

What was even more annoying was that Captain Greyscuttle had apparently been clearing all sorts of people for boarding without warning him. Kuroishi only minded the fact that he wasn't told anything, that annoyed him greatly.

At least they'd still have a chance if the enemy hadn't set up a sensor network, if they had this mission was already doomed to failure.

The tactics the Fallen Angels used required time, equipment, and suprise. None of those wopuld be available for this mission if the enemy was smart enough to prepare thier defenses.

"Geist. I think I have an alternate plan. Niether down loading nor the Gopher Plan. I have to go see someone for some intel reports before I can say what it is." Kuroishi said as he left the room.

Kuroishi would make two stops, one at dome 8473 on Endoven and the other at the VE's prison facilities.

"Daishi I need something for this dropship, nothing special. I just need to have a little work done to the IFF system so that a certain computer system won't flag the ship." Kuroishi said over the comm as he took the dropship to Endoven.

"Roger that. I'll have it done in a hour." Daishi replied.

Kuroishi quickly parked the dropship so that the rigging could be done and caught the first ship that would take him to the prison facility.

Kuroishi finaly got clearence to see the person he needed to talk to. It was amazing how much information this person still came across while in prison. Sometimes Kuroishi wondered how the frak Jahromnk did it.

[translated into english for the convienance of our readers]
"So Jahromnk, what can you tell me about a terrorist cell calling itself the Preatorian Garidsem?" Kuroishi asked using about the only thing VE intel had found out about the terrorist unit that had taken the embacy.

"The Preatorian Garidsem are an anti-imperial terrorist group that used to operate out of the Greneth system until an NI task force cleared them out. Apearently thier king, or Preatorian as they kalled him, was the leader of one of the planets in this area before the Empire came in and overthrew his regime. Several of his guards evaded capture and formed the terrorist cell. While excelent conventional troops and body guards they have little practical training in terrorist warfare. The only thing that has kept them alive is that they are hard to find and always keep moving. From what I have heard they may be getting some powerfull backing now which could be quite true seeing as how openly they have moved in taking the embassy. The greatest advantage you'll have on them is that they don't have a technician or slicer among them familiar with the latest VE hardware so if you can get into the computer system it probably won't even have been rewried to keep you out and stop you from working your magic. Most of the members of this terrorist cell are humans with rodians making up the bulk of the rest." Jahromnk replied.

"I do not know how I can repay you. If I figure something out you'll be the first to know." Kuroshi replied as he left the prison facility.

As far as Kuroishi knew no one besides him, his otherself, and Jahromnk spoke a word of hysan in the VE. Jahromnk insisted on always speaking in that language when either Kuroishi or Daishi came to see him. Kuroishi figured that it was so that the rest of the prison population wouldn't kill him for giving up information so easily.

Kuroishi returned to Endoven to collect the dropship.

"It is ready to go, assuming the embassy computers haven't been sliced into and reprogramed." Daishi said to Kuroishi as Kuroishi boarded the dropship.

Kuroishi left to pick up the rest of the Fallen Angels and meet with the Corvette Sweetums for the hyper jump. After all they still needed to train for the specifics of this operation.

"New deployment plan people. Captain Greyscuttle shall fly us down in the dropship and we shall paradrop from high altitude with the intent of landing here at point baker. If we do this properly and come down within 100 meters of target we will have about fifteen seconds to get into the perimeter sensor systems of the embassy and convince them that we are not an invading force. Myself, Narm, and Geist all have the best chance of doing that so we shall make sure that you all recieve any training neccessarry to do this yourselves incase the three of us land too far off target. After disabling the perimeter security we then have to see if there are any patrols about before we enter the building. Seeing how there are ten of us we shall use the 2 by 4 by 4 search pattern. Argon, Master you'll be team one. Tycho, Narm you'll be team two. Jingo and Stonefish shall be team three. Geist and myself shall be team four. Ferox and Deathwookie will be team five. Each team except five will search a room at a time, one person covering the other. Team five will cover the hallways. Once we find the hostages our bigest priorty is getting them out alive, we can come back to finish the terrorists off later. Hopefully we will be able to acertain numbers of enemy units and have enough ammo to take them out. We will deploy at 19:30 hours day after tommorrow. This will be a night operation and we will be going in without much in the way of armor so watch yourselves." Kuroishi said as he watched the Fallen Angels nod in agreement.

Kuroishi found himself looking at the locker he had stored his Varneck Marine Combat Armor in and reminded himself that he wouldn't be using it this time. Kuroishi knew what this meant for himself and the terrorists. Esspecially after reviewing the statiscial data for Tadath.

Argon Viper was a trooper ready to kill.

He is armed with a vibro-knife, a T-21 Repeating Rifle, a grappling hook, a rope an belaying equiptment, 1 flash grenade, 1 smoke grenade, light body armor, and his two extra power packs.

Behind him Master is equiped with the same things(excluding the grenades, of which there is one per pair), as they waited for the signal that signified that the security system was down.

Suddenly, the signal came, and they jumped.

Activating their parachutes, they floated gently to the ground, released them befroe hitting, and activated the incineration process.

As they hit the ground, they rolled to their feet as one, running instantly for the wall.

They reached the wall, flattened themselves against it and waited as the other pais caught up.

"Okay,"said Daishi as the others arrived, "We're in, now split up and get in."

The rest of the sim went off without a hitch.

As they exited the simulator, they talked about how well they did, and looked forward to the real thing...

Stonefish sat in his quarters aboard the Sweetums preparing the small list of equipment he had been assigned. He looked at the stormtrooper armor which he had been assigned. White as usual, though that could soon be fixed.
(OOC: If you don't like this, please delete this post.)

Taking the breastplate, he hooked it to the ceiliing grates, and brandished a can of matt black spraypaint, and gave the armor a few coats. There, nice and black, and it'll have a good go at stopping anything short of a blaster rifle now. Well, it may make the difference between a large hole and a small one, anyway.

At this point, his door was knocked upon and opened revealing Jingo Yatani.

"You want to talk tactics before we go in?" he asked.

"Just one suggestion here," said Fish, "One of us has his rifle set to stun, and the other to kill. The stunner just shoots everyone, and the killer only fires when fired upon. This way we can utilise something to tie them up, and let our superiors sort out the good from the bad later."

"It's a nice idea," said Jingo, "but I don't think Kuroishi will buy into it. I've known him a little longer than you, so I'll float it past him if I get chance."

Argon Viper suited up, he strapped on the armor vest, and put the equiptment given to him in the pouches on his belt(the only piece of clothing that Whiphids wear).

As he boarded the dropship, he looked back at the Royal Barkalounger.

He could still remember the first day he had come aboard, as a member of the Intruder Wing Planetary Operations Division, a Colonel in charge of his own Star Destroyer.

Unfortunately, a series of disastrous losses had cost him his beautiful ship(or at least the crew, the ship itself was still well hidden), and bumped him down to Squadron Commander, before the Intruder Wing disbanded.

Now, the only remnant of the Intruder Wing was the Planetary Operations Division, or, as they were know now, the Fallen Angels.

But the glorious times could come again, not under the same name, there had been much debate over that, and it was still inconclusive, but he had been in contact with Adm Macintosh and LGN Hippie, who had both expressed an interest in joining the Fallen Angels.

Already, they were making a difference in the Vast Empire, they were expanding rapidly, introducing new ideas, and now they were out to prove that they were better than anything the rest of the VE could put up against them.

As he boarded the dropship, he reflected that Grand Admiral Thrawn said it best, "Destiny is on the move, those who cannot keep up, will be left to whatch from a distance, and those who get in our way, will not whatch at all."

Kuroishi chuckled to himself at Stonefish's plan.

"You know that would work. Armor has to be specificly designed to resist stun blasts and only a handfull of the best funded and equiped people could have it. They said they wanted the people out alive, having them consious would be to our advantage but not neccessary. Infact I have a plan once we get Narm hooked into the main computer." Kuroishi replied.

Kuroishi went to the workshop, he had some work to do on his own stormtrooper armor.

Kuroishi stripped out the respirator system and immediatly set to work on it to tweak it. While Kuroishi could work just fine under normal conditions with out his armor the lower atmosphere preassure of a normal gravity world could potentially cause him some problems. With that in mind Kuroishi's work on the respirator system was aimed at counter acting that potential problem.

It would only be a few hours until thier drop.

Kuroishi donned his camo light body armor and set to find the rest of the Fallen Angels to get them prepared for the real drop.

As the dropship neared the drop location, Daishi, Geist, and Narm crowded near the exit, as they would be the first to leave.

Argon Viper and Master checked each other's equiptment as the other teams did the same.

They waited, the tension was almost overwhelming, why weren't they there yet, the Royal Barkalounger could have had them there in half the time.

Suddenly, it was time.

Daishi, Geist, and Narm jumped, one after another into the embassy's main green.

The rest of the Fallen Angels waited, counting the twenty seconds it would take them to reach the ground, and the fifteen seconds it would take them to disable the security systems(or be caught in the act).

At the end of that time, the relief was almost palpable, the alarms were silent, they had succeeded.

The teams tok their turns and jumped, one after another, with a speed and efficiency that showed that most of them were used to this type of operation.

As they hit the ground, they rolled, releasing their parachutes as they did.

As they were released, the parachutes incinerated within a matter of seconds.

As Argon Viper ran to the wall where Daishi, Geist, and Narm waited, he checked the embassy, but found no hint that the enemy knew of their presence.

He ran to the wall, flattening himself against it, and waited for the rest of the Fallen Angels to catch up.

When they had all arrived, Daishi began to issue orders.

"Okay, here's the deal,"he began,"Ferox, Deathwookie, stay here and keep this area clear. Geist and I will go to that tower over there and try to snipe out anyone who could cause trouble. The rest of you will head inside and scout out the area. Try not to kill to many people, but find the hostages and get them out at all costs short of your life, at this point you are far more valuable to the VE than these diplomats, got it?"

"Yes sir,"came the reply.

"Good, then get going..."

*Kuroishi's perspective of the drop*

Kuroishi was coming down about 10 meters to target. Origninally the plan called for thirty seconds to disable the security system. In the practice sims that proved to take too long.

Geist and Narm were starting to float a bit off target but they'd still be able to provide cover while Kuroishi went to work.

Kuroishi hit the ground. From where he was he could see two guards on patrol. They obviously did not see any of the drop team.

Kuroishi quickly grabed his tool kit and set to work on the nearby sensor pod. Kuroishi had found out that the network was interlinked so that would make this task possible.

Since Narm had the Box o fun and the slicer tool Kuroishi improvised with his basic technician's tools.

Within a few seconds Kuroishi had disabled the system. It would stay down long enough to allow for stage two.

"Initiate operation Cross Crash." Kuroishi commed to the rest of the Fallen Angels.

Cross Crash was the signal to alert the rest of the Fallen Angels that the sensor system was down and it was clear for them to jump. It also signaled Narm that he was to work his slicing abilities on the sensor net for phase three.

Narm set to work on the sensor net and gave a thumbs up to show he was done.

"Allright let's meet up with the others now." Kuroishi said to Geist and Narm.

Kuroishi, Narm, and Geist marched to the predesignated point where everyone would meet. As expected they met the rest of the Fallen Angels there.

"Okay, here's the deal," he began, "Ferox, Deathwookie, stay here and keep this area clear. Geist and I will go to that tower over there and try to snipe out anyone who could cause trouble. The rest of you will head inside and scout out the area. Try not to kill many people, but find the hostages and get them out at all costs short of your life, at this point you are more valuable to the VE then these diplomats, got it?"

With that the Fallen Angels scattered to work thier magic.

Kuroishi tossed a pair of binocs to Geist.

"See that hill over there. Get up there and find cover and spot for me." Kuroishi said as he pulled his sniper rifle off his back.

Kuroishi reset his comm so that he could pick up transmissions. It didn't matter of he could understand what was being said, all he needed to know was how often the patrols were supposed to check in.

With a signal Kuroishi let Geist know that he should relay a comm to have the Fallen Angels hold up until his next signal.

"Allright boss I got three guards in the tower for sure, probably means there are more waiting for thier shift." Geist sent to Kuroishi through hand signals.

Kuroishi droped to the ground and took aim for a visible target. Kuroishi waited for Geist's spotter report.

"Two three two m d, one four m e, one six m l." Geist commed to Kuroishi.

Kuroishi adjusted his aim and squeezed the trigger one down two to go.

"Two three zero m d, one four m e, one zero l." Geist commed.

Kuroishi adjusted his aim, snapped the bolt back then forward and squeezed the trigger again. Two down one to go.

"Two three one m d, one four m e, one m r." Geist commed.

Kuroishi worked the bolt again and adjusted his aim and dropped the last target. Kuroishi carefully picked up all of his shells.

"Tower is clear of current residents. We will make sure there are not tennants waiting to assume the vaccancy." Kuroishi commed to let the rest know to proceed.

The tower was empty of others. That meant they were billeting all thier personel at the embassy.

"Let's catch up with the others Geist." Kuroishi said after concealing the bodies.

By Kuroishi's best calculations they had approxematly 15 minutes before the next comm check in.

Argon Viper rushed accross the lawn at his full Whiphid speed, and waited, covering the others as they rushed accross.

As Master reached him, they divided up the building, he and Master would take the west side, Narm and Tycho would take the right side, and Fish and Jingo would go through the middle.

Argon carried one of the T-21 repeating blasters, as each team except Daishi's was armed with their own(Daishi not needing one due to his sniper rifle).

They went through the hallways without trouble, which led them to wonder if this part of the building was even in use.

Suddenly, one of the doors in front of them swung open, revealing one of the terrorist troopers.

It was hard to tell whose shot hit first, but both shots hit him in the center of the chest.

They quickly rushed to the room, and found an entire terrorist squad comming out of their barracks.

Luckily, their shots were faster, more numerous, and far more accurate than those of the terrorists, and the fight was over in a few seconds.

But was there a comm unit in the room?

A quick search revealed that there wasn't, but that the first troop they had killed was due to report in in five minutes, drastically shortening the fifteen minute timing.

"Daishi,"Argon said into his comm unit,"We have five minutes to get the hostages before they notice."

"What!?!?!"came the reply,"Why!?!?!"

"We just killed a barracks full of troops, one of them is supposed to report in by then,"Master answered,"but on the plus side, we found a map detailing what they use the different rooms for..."

Stonefish swore silently at the announcement, and quickly adjusted the setting on his blaster for maximum spread. This would stun the targets for a shorter time, but get far more of them into the deal.

"All right, let's move!" he said to Jingo.

They leapt ahead into the main hall of the building, a grand room with a pair of curved staircases leading to an upper landing. Jingo snapped of two shots at the sentries on the balcony above, taking two kills.

"Two hundred seventy seconds," came the call over the comm.

The map recovered by Master lead the Angels to believe that all of the hostages were being kept on the upper floors, so most efforts were conducted there, leaving the ground floor to Jingo and Fish.

"Ballroom clear," said Jingo over the comm, as a terrorist dressed in grey slacks and a black shirt strolled out of the john on the left hand side. Fish reacted instantly, pulling the vibroblade, flicking the on switch and making an under hand toss. He took the guy in the throat, and he fell to the floor gurgling.

"Real clear," said Fish.

Fish moved over to the john to retrieve his knife and took a brief look in. All was clear.

He then directed Jingo over to the far left corner, where a door lead deeper into the building...

[Note this is supposed to be read before Stonefish's post above. Sorry but I was writing away from internet and just got done.]
"Team 3, Deploy!" came the pilot's voice. Apparently the code had been given by Geist and Daishi below.
Inside the earpiece of his helmet Jingo heared the go for deployment. He held his breath and then jumped. Seconds passed as the ground rose to meet him. The wind rushed past, roaring in his ears as he fell. He was wearing a simple combat outfit. He had opted to leave the standard trooper armour behind. He didn't want its bulk slowing him down any. Plus he didn't put much faith in the stuff. About the only thing it did was give anonymity to its wearer which at times could be a good thing in a Special Ops unit such as this. No, he didn't rely much on it. Jingo's defense was instead in his lightning fighter pilot reflexes that had, in the past years or so been further honed and put to good use during his stay with the POD and then later as an elite trooper in the Fallen Angels squad. His reflexes complemented by an uncanny knack of sensing approaching trouble. The training they had had was rigorous and difficult. Yet it allowed them to act without thinking, on instinct to make life or death decisions. It had honed each member of the Fallen Angels to their respective physical peak as well. Jingo had always been smaller than other men. But his size also made him lighter and quicker-- and in some cases deadlier.

The chute opened and Jingo drew in a sigh of relief. He loved flying spacecraft. He loved flying period. It was liberating. But the moment before pulling the rip cord and waiting for the chute to open was slightly un-nerving. But he never felt like he was powerlessly falling inside a fighter because the flight controls were always at his finger tips. Well that wasn't completely true, he mused to him self grinning wryly. There was one or two times in the Intruder Wing, when as a Squadron Commander he and Black Squadron had flown the standard unshielded TIEs into the thick of combat. Once or twice he had felt the chill of death when his flight controls had locked up in a dog-fight. Never a good feeling.
"Jingo," StoneFish's voice came through his earpiece as he was buoyed up on a gust of wind and carried a bit of course over a small hill covered with trees. "You're getting a little off course. Meet me at our rendevus location." Jingo double-checked the mini-location on the HUD on the inside of his helmet's visor.
"Roger. At current velocity, touch-down in 15 seconds. I'll see you on the ground." Jingo replied. The seconds counted off and as he had done in training and in other missions, he hit the ground and on instict rolled when he hit. Instantly the chute burned to mere dust that was blown away on the wind. Jingo rolled to a crouch, his rifle at the ready, the night-vision, the constant thermal imaging, along with a mini-map of the area, gave him a feed of constant information. He could even see a blip pin-pointing the squad's location on the map.
"Daishi, team three is on the ground." Jingo reported. "Moving to rendevous location now." He wasn't too far off. The embassy where the terrorists had holed up was beyound the hill he had crossed over. He quickly scanned the area for any sign of the enemy. None yet. It wouldn't do to get into a fire-fight this early on in the game. Hostage lives were at stake and Jingo was determined that each civilian and every member of the Fallen Angels would get out alive.
He jogged to the top of the hill and went prone, scanning the area with his helmet's visor. He zoomed in on a guard tower. It was manned. Geist and Daishi, the sniper team would be taking care of them. Jingo silently and gracefully crept through the under-brush and down the side of the hill, making it to the rendevous location behind a permacrete wall outside the vision of the guards. He looked across the street and saw Stonefish jog across and meet up with him.
"Glad you could make it." Jingo whispered in his radio.
"Wouldn't miss it." Stonefish grinned.
"Your rifle set?" Jingo asked
"Yup. Set for stun." Stonefish replied fingering the rifle as he peered around the corner of the wall to take a look at the guards nest. Jingo covered him, rifle at the ready. Jingo was glad he wasn't the one who's gun was on stun. He liked the 'blast everything that moves' part. But not on stun. He didn't like leaving potential enemies alive. Especially those who had just been pointing a gun at him a moment before. But, in a way it made sense. That way if a hostage did happen to get hit, it wasn't the end of the word.
"Wait for the signal." Stonefish said.
Stonefish knew that the guards tower was clearly guarding the route they were going to take. But with the security net down and the guards out of the way, it was the optimal approach route. Quickest to the hostages, anyway. Jingo looked behind them and noticed the rest of the assault teams were in position. Jingo and Stonefish were ready to take the center as soon as the go code was given. Then they heard it through their comlink receivers. The rapport of an ancient slug-throwing sniper rifle, one of Daishi's weapons of choice. The sound, didn't carry to where they were, but the bullets did. One by one the guards in the tower were dropped by a singular professionalism only acheived by those of great skill. No alarm was given. The go code was given. Stonefish first, followed closely by Jingo jogged across the center of the lawn heading for a door. Jingo could see teams two and four moving off to his left and right. All areas of approach were covered at the end of a rifle barrel. Suprise and overwhelming force were their best protection. A hail of blaster fire errupted from the team off to his left, led by Seargent Argon Viper. A squad of enemy terrorists were dropped in a matter of seconds without even being able to return much of a fight, or get off word of their attackers.
"Too bad for them" Jingo muttered under his breath.
"Daishi! We've got a problem! We've got five minutes until they notice we're here."
"What?!?" Daishi yelled, clearly perturbed...

Jingo groaned inwardly but put on his game face and Stonefish swore. Intel was never quite sure where all the guards would be. It was just their luck that they had to run across one now. But Jingo was more worried that someone had heard the blaster fire and would come to investigate. It wouldn't do well at all if the enemy knew they were hear. Several high-ranking government officials were being held hostage Jingo quietly followed Stonefish across the darkened lawn and then to a locked door. SF had flipped out an electronic lock pick kit, and after a few moments heard the satisfying click/hiss as the door's locking mechanism opened.
"Team two is in." Stonefish quietly reported, and hit the pad. The door whooshed up and he and Jingo moved quickly inside, right up the middle!

"Five minutes." Geist said. "This gets better and better doesn't it?"

He was dangling about two stories up, peeking through a window into an office. Deserted.

"All clear," he said to Kuroshi.

"Open it up." Kuroshi responded.

Geist quickly popped the lock on the window and slid it open (first making sure the security system was disabled, of course!). He and Kuroshi scrambled in.

Geist walked over to the door. "Me first, I look the most like an embassy staff guy." He said. He opened the door and stepped through. Outside was a terrorist.

"Hold it!" the thug demanded.

Geist cowered back in feigned fear. "Please don't hurt me!" He said. "I give up!"

"Who are you?"

"Computer staffer, I run the computers!" Geist responded.

"Get on your knees and put your hands on your head!"

Geist complied and the terrorist came to tie him up. He didn't see or hear Kuroshi approach until the vibroknife ended his life.

"So that's why you always wear civilian cloths?" Kuroshi asked Geist.

"In this line of work it pays to look harmless." Geist responded as he retrieved his blaster. "We have to hurry."

Kuroishi ran toward the main computer romm they wouldn't have much time now to secure it so that Narm could hook up his stuff and rework the security protocals that had already been tampered with. Obviously the enemy had managed to bring along thier own slicer after all and that peterbed Kuroishi.

"Team two, you are lagging. Get to point zero now." Kuroishi commed.

So far Kuroishi counted sixteen hostages down permanently, four more mission kills, and one wounded soldier that Deathwookie ought to be taking care of right about now. By the best estimete there were 64 terrorists in the enemy force. Odds weren't too bad that the Fallen Angels would survive this intact.

Six troopers filled the sights of Kuroishi's blaster. The antiquated bolt action rifle he carried was quite impresive and usefull for sniper work but in this close in slugfest type of work Kuroishi needed the rapid fire of his blaster rifle. He and Geist quickly blasted the lot of them but as ussual things just didn't go as planned. four more showed up from inside the room, one even carried an e-web.

Kuroishi nodded to Geist and both quickly dive for cover and Geist slid a flash grenade down the hall.

Kuroishi and Geist popped up and blasted the four new saps.

"Remind me when we finish we need to commence Operation Hide the Fish asap." Kuroishi said to Geist.

Kuroishi popped into the control room first and he saw the slicer reaching for a comlink. Kuroishi lunged and grabbed the man's arm.

"No you don't." Kuroishi said with a visible smile on his face.

Kuroishi proceeded to break the slicer's arm in three places. Grabing and breaking the slicer's other arm wasn't even a challenge for Kuroishi in this standard gravity. A quick flex of Kuroishi's arms sent the slicer to the floor dead before he could even scream in pain or terror.

"Team two I hope you aren't planning on making me do all the work. All other teams report if you have seen any tangos wearing item r or item f." Kuroishi commed.

"Team three here negative on both." Came Fish's response.

"Team one here also negative on both." Argon's voice answered over the comm.

"[Team five here also negative on both.]" Deathwookie responded.

"Team two also reporting negative on both." Narm's voice came from the far side of the room.

"Allright Narm get to work with that box of fun and your normal slicing genious. I'll see about setting up my plan." Kuroishi responded.

"All teams equip yourselves with either item f or item r." Kuroishi ordered the rest of the Fallen Angels.

Kuroishi had figured that with the atmosphere that the terrorists wouldn't be too inclined to keep wearing any filtration or resperator gear that they had worn during the assault. Like most instilations the embassy did have a few security systems, one of which was a colorless oderless knockout gass deployment system. Kuroishi figured the terrorists wouldn't be too worried about keeping thier gear on once they overode the computer system. But Kuroishi did count on not all the terrorists being that lax either. Another benifit was that at least they could go in shooting a bit safer once they got to the hostages.

Kuroishi smiled while he got to work on fixing the security system for the task.

Master and Viper moved down one of the hallways, the glowrods on the roof flickered with age.

Master came to a T-Junction and looked at the map. Viper came up behind him "Which way"?

"Left" Master replied poking his head around the corner. There was a lone guard about 10 meters down the corrior armed with a sinister baster rifle.

Master turned to Viper and help out his hand, "Vibroblade, my turn".

Viper gave him the blade so now Master held one in both hand.

"Watch a pro" Master replied winking then moving in the shadows towards the guard.

The guard turned in time to only see a blur before both blades slashed him from head to toe, then across his cheast. The guard then slumped to the floor lifeless.

Viper walked up to Master, Master smiled, "Not as good as a lightsaber but more steathly". Master gave Viper one of the blades back, and they continued down the hall way.

Kuroishi stopped his work part way through as he found out his plan won't work.

"The enemy has depleted the gass stores guess we'll have to do this the hard way. We'll proceed to secure our escape route. Team five prepare to provide free cover." Kuroishi ordered as he rethought his battle plan again.

Kuroishi found that he never actually managed to use the same exact plan that he started with throughout a battle. After all no plan of battle ever survives contact with the enemy unless it is a holovid show.

Kuroishi took point as he and Geist hurried toward the vehicale bays. It had been decided to creativly liberate as many embassy vehicales as neccessary to get the Fallen Angels and the hostages out rather then go by foot.

Nine terroists filled the hallway in front of them Kuroishi and Geist dove into an office hopefully befor they were spotted.

Kuroishi looked at Geist. Kuroishi recognized the look on his face that meant he had a plan.

"Toss me the smoke grenade and one end of your rope, keep a good hold on the your end. Fire and trip." Geist said to Kuroishi.

Kuroishi smiled at the deviousness of this simple plan. The smoke from the smoke grenade would most certainly be noticed and with it obscuring the trip line they were setting up it would cause a few terrorists to no longer be in action.

Kuroishi secured his end of the rope to the sturdiest thing he could find and nodded to Geist as he saw him do the same.

The grenade went off and smoke began to spill out into the office, once the office was filled it spilled out into the hallway. Kuroishi set thier positions.

"FIRE!" One of the Terroists yelled.

A moment later three terrorist spilled through the door and Kuroishi grabbed one and power bombed him. Geist now with both of the vibroknives made short work of the other two. Kuroishi smilled as his target was still alive.

"Looks like we got rations for Deathwookie." Kuroishi said as he heard the rest of the terrorists approaching.

"Looks like one of the hostages escaped and started a fire. Do a head count now. Johnsen and Feltred get in there and start putting it out, more firefighters are on thier way. Look to see what happened to the other three while you're in there." One of the terrorists said right outside the door.

Kuroishi grabbed a fire extinguisher that one of the three initial terrorists had been carrying and redied himslef. Kuroishi's preperation was quickly rewarded with two quick very satisfying thumps.

Kuroishi tapped Geist on the shoulder.

"They have got to know someone is in here after that last wave. I'll take down the trip line then play the part of a bulldozer and get the leader, you take what you can before I join the fray." Kuroshi wispered to Geist.

Geist just nodded in return.

Kuroishi took down the trip line and got back where he could get a running start. He could see the shape of one terrorist in the doorway and that was his target. Kuroishi charged with all of his might and quickly plowed into the poor sap who was unfortunate enough to be in his way. Kuroishi impacted so hard that both he and the terrorist flew through the wall into the office across the hall. With all the attention on him Kuroishi heard Geist starting to go to work on the thourogly suprised remaining terrorists.

Kuroishi's target started to get up but Kuroishi slugged the man for all he was worth. The sap didn't even live long enough to hear his jaw and neck break in four different places.

"Any leftovers Geist?" Kuroishi asked as he came out to see Geist skrimaging thier most recent battle.

"Nah boss. Perhaps next time we should be sporting and let them attack us all at once." Geist replied.

"Now Geist this isn't make beleive, this is a real battle. Such things could get someone really hurt." Kuroishi responded.

"Right o, forgot this isn't one our ussual missions." Geist replied.

Kuroishi once again took point as the duo marched toward the vehicale bay.

Stonefish lead the way down a servant's corridor on the ground floor, with Jingo covering the rear. The lights overhead were obviously the budget option, as they were dimmer than usual, and most of them flickered occasionally.

Passing and clear a number of store rooms on the left and right, they finally approached what appeared to be the kitchens. Taking a peek around the door, Fish spotted three hostages: two chefs and a waiter from their garb, all tied up on the floor, and a fat man helping himself to a tray of cakes on the far side of the room. He noticed a blaster in arms reach, and a comm-link on the next table.

Using hand signals, he indicated what he had seen to Yatani, and that the stun plan would not be necessary here, since there was only one terrorist in the room. Jingo nodded, and readied his blaster rifle.

Two seconds later, it was all over, the fat man in the bad shirt gracefully collapsing to the ground, a steaming hole in his head.

Jingo walked over to the hostages and quickly slashed their bonds with his vibroblade.

"VE Army," he said, "we're here to get you out. Head for the vehicle bays, there should be another team there by now to see you safe."

The terrified head chef nodded, and ran out the door by which the two Angels had entered.

Narm checked the next room, it was clear, according to the plans he was very near to the computer room. He had the stormtrooper breastplate, greeves and forearms guards painted matte black, underneath he wore a standard black tactical suit. He had painted his face black, and wore a black bandana over his head. On his left side he felt the weight of the box-o-fun bounce against him. He overlooked Tycho who was just in front of him, with Narm providing cover. "Okay, second door on the left." Tycho whispered as they neared a corner. "We gotta' make this quick, or they could set the whole place on alert." Narm remembered the course from the hours he had spent studying the floorplan, and the four paths he had memorized to get to his destination. fortunately the computer room was still on the first floor, and they didn't need to deal with a stairwell.
Narm was nervous, they had only run into one guard so far, and Tycho had downed him silently with his vibroknife. "Hey Tycho, sounds like boss go to 'em first."
"Yeah Narm. Let's go!" Tycho lept outward, rolling into the hallway, and came up on one knee blaster to his shoulder.
Narm rounded the corner, blaster at his shoulder. Kuroishi and Geist had done a thorough job. Behind him a shot rang out, as Tycho gunned down one of the terrorists.
Tycho came up to pull the bodies inside the room. During that Narm let down the box-o-fun, and saw Kuroishi checking some equipment frantically. He noticed the brutilly killed slicer. "I didn't think they had any techs?" Narm asked.
"I'm trying to use any built in security system, knockout gas." He worked while Narm set the Box-o-fun into the embassy computers.
"Something's not right, it says the stores have been depleted. No." Suddenly the screen Kuroishi had been working with turned black. "What's going on."
"Any damage?" Tycho asked.
"I don't know, something's not working right. Nothing's coming up." Narm looked around flustered. "Damn, they must've cut wires, or something." Narm examined the panels under the system, and noticed one ajar. He opened it to see a bunch of loose wires dangling. Inside was one of the trembling terrorists with a pair of wire-cutters. "Dammit, no!" He looked over at Korushi who was staring at them.
Narm ripped the terrified man out of the access panel. Tycho lowered his blaster and fired.
Tycho looked over to the door. "Our friend over there just took out the computers, do what you can. Narm and I will hold here, and try to get this working." Tycho looked around the room. "Looks like a tech kit is over there, maybe they have some splicing equipment."
"Sorry, I took them out as fast as I could, just try to get it working. I didn't know that he was in there. We're heading to the vehicle bay to secure some transport out of here." With that they left the computer room.
Narm bounced over to the box. He grinned, it was complete, screw drivers, pliers, and a splicing kit. "Thanks Tycho, I think I can get this running again."
After a few minutes down in the hole, Narm was nearly done reparing the damage, though he noticed he was low on tape. "For people who don't know how to run these things, they have a good understanding on how to damage them. Unless that slicer knew we were going to get in anyway, and wrecked it just to make my day miserable"
"Narm, I've finished securing the door, no one will get in here easily. I also bashed our noisy friend over there a couple of times, just to be safe." Tycho chuckled.
Tycho looked down at his chrono. "Damn, can you get this working in anywhere near that amount of time Narm?" Tycho asked, worried. "The whole mission is in jeopardy now."
"I have to. Wait, I have an idea." Narm used his com. "Hey, Dai. Hold on there. The comp's been damaged, but between the embassy surveilance systems, and the box-o-fun here, I can fix your problem. I just need a few minutes. Once I get this puter workin' we can get some clear sailing."
"Narm, do you have any idea what you're doing?" Kuroishi asked.
"Yeah, I think." Narm responded.
"Dammit Narm, either way someone get's screwed. Tell me what you have in mind." Daishi asked.
"Can't, I don't... aagh, damn... dropped my pliers. Anyway, trust me. Hey Argon, pick up the com unit from the guy you offed, have it handy, I'm going to need to check that signal in a couple of seconds or so."
"Narm, will you... I give up. Everyone continue on as if you had the fifteen minute timespan. You just better know what you're doing, because if people die over this, I'll take you out myself." Kuroishi got off.
"Yeah, anyway Narm, I got it. What do you want me to do now?" Argon asked.
"Just hold on. But keep it handy. We're going to buy seven minutes boss said we didn't have." Narm wrapped another wire he had reconnected in tape. "Tycho, try turning on the computer, tell me if anything comes up."
"Sure thing." Tycho turned it on. "Loading... loading... loading... systems check."
Narm bit his lip the tension running thick.
"All systems nominal, booting up main interface!" Tycho exclaimed.
Narm crawled out of the tight space. Finding the port spaces, he attached the box-o-fun. Using that he was able to crack into the system. "Hey Argon, you still there, I need your attention pronto."
On the return signal Narm heard blaster shots. "I'm here, just had to dispatch a pest."
"Okay, remember the com unit you pulled off the dead guy?" Narm looked at his chrono, damn, he had less than seventy seconds.
"Got it."
"Okay, we've got to move quickly. I want you to send out S.O.S. Just blip the signal."
Narm set the computer to look for any com signals sending out in an S.O.S. pattern. It came up. It was just little blips on the frequency, and no one should have noticed.
"Did you get it?" Argon asked.
"I think so, do it again." Narm bit his lip. Checking his chrono he saw he had less than a minute before the check in. It came up again, and he centered on the frequency. "I hope the embassy people were that paranoid in their computers." Narm ran a search for every use of that exact frequency. He counted down. Approximately fifteen minutes before, and thirty minutes before, and fourty-five minutes before the same frequency had been used twice, one calling and one answering. He didn't have the time to check them all out. He pulled up the last message, and set it to resend on the same signal. His chrono hit the five minute mark.
Narm tensly finished loading it. Suddenly a message came in on the frequency.
Narm let it finsh, held his breath and resent the previous answer message along that frequency, he silently read the translation that appeared on his screen, not understanding the audio. It read: Post at barracks three reporting in, all quiet, and no activity. Over.
Narm breathed a sigh of relief. He hoped it had worked.
"Hey Narm, do you know if that worked or not?" Tycho asked.
Narm turned pale. "I don't know, but I hope it did." He responded quietly.

[Well I guess no one besides me and Geist want to hurry up and get this over with so we can start pulling some pranks.]

Kuroishi smiled as he lined up his scope on one of the four terrorists he could clearly see and let loose a shot. The other three were after him in a flash. Kuroishi ducked around a corner and saw the blaster shots impact on the far wall. So far so good.

Slipping a vibro knife from it's sheeth Kuroishi counted down the two seconds it would take for the terrorists to reach the intersection where he and Geist were now hidden.

Kuroishi popped out from cover first and quickly slaughtered two terrorists, the third was too far out of reach and the fourth was missing. Then Kuroishi saw where the fourth had gotten to. The fourth had found a light repeater and was starting to fill the area Kuroishi previously occupied.

Kuroishi let the third terrorist get cut down by his over ancsious friend and dived for the other side of the hall.

Kuroishi dropped his sniper rifle and snapped his blaster rifle to his shoulder and fired two quick shots. Kuroishi did not stay exposed to check his handy work.

"Lightbringer do you see him?" Kuroishi shouted across the hall to Geist.

"Yeah boss, you got his left knee and right bicept pretty good." Geist responded.

"Allright finish him off if you like I'm getting my rifle." Kuroishi ordered as he stepped out to pick up his sniper rifle.

Kuroishi quickly worked the bolt to load a new round intendid to end some poor fool's life.

"Boss I think we got some good news and some bad news." Geist said as he listened to his comm.

"What is it Lightbringer?" Kuroishi responded allready impatient to get this over with.

"Team one has secured the hostages but someone got off a warning. Team two reports that he is still unable to break the entire enemy code but he's pretty sure reinforcements are being sent to our location and to head off team one." Geist replied.

"Team three assist team one. Team five, get down to the vehicale bay. Team two get ready to pull out. Transport shall be available shortly." Kuroishi commed.

Kuroishi chuckled as team five approached with the now blood covered cambot.

"We really needed more of those. Allright I'm going to jack these binocs into the feed of the cambot and have it do a little recon work." Kuroishi said as he pulled out his tool kit.

A few simple modifications and Kuroishi was finished. The cambot quickly hovered out and after about two seconds Kuroishi was satisfied with what he saw and brought the cambot back into the hallway.

Kuroishi quickly did some calculations and looked right at Geist.

"Your repeating rifle if you would Lightbringer." Kuroishi said after reviewing the recon footage.

"Sure boss." Geist said as Kuroishi handed him his blaster rifle.

There were six terrorists in the baw, two behind an e-web, another two with personel anti-vehicle missles, and the last two had blaster rifles. Kuroishi figured if he could drop at least the ones behind the e-web the others would be easy meat for Geist, Deathwookie, and Ferox.

"Allright I'm going to draw thier fire the rest of you blow the hell out of anyone I don't drop. Before you ask Deathwookie you have permission to eat survivors." Kuroishi said as he got into position.

"Give me a little bit of a head start but not too much." Kuroishi said as he started his run.

Kuroishi leveled his gun and fired a controlled burst at each group of two starting with the e-web operators. Kuroishi saw one take a light wound to the leg and go down and the other was missing half his right side. The other four were already on thier way down before Kuroishi could line up on them. Sparatic blaster fire splattered harmlessly off the vehicale bay doors some distance behind Kuroishi. Kuroishi saw one of his shots take out one of the blaster armed terrorists. Diving and landing with a thump Kuroishi was now concealed by a hoverlimo. The sounds of continued blaster fire alerted Kuroishi that the rest of the terrorists had been eliminated. By Kuroishi's count that left only fourteen terrorists left loose in the compound based upon intercepted terrorist reports, status reports from the Fallen Angels, and what information Narm managed to scrape from the embassy computers.

Now all the Fallen Angels really had to worry about was getting the hostages out.

[There Master, Argon, that should give you two something to post about.]

"Roger," said Stonefish into his comm unit, "moving to assist team one."

They left the kitchen area by the back entrance, and moved to the servants' stairs down the corridor. Narrow and creaky, designed to give the servants a way to move around the place without getting in the way, the stairs lead up to the first floor.

Jingo lead the way up the stairs while Stonefish covered the rear, at the top, they found a corridor leading left and right up to a tee-junction, where they just saw Master and Viper disappear down the left fork and a low grunt. Jingo signalled, and they headed off after them.

"Team two reporting. We got Tangos inbound, ETA, less than twenty minutes. Embassy scanners show multiple armored vehicles, and multiple other contacts. Coming in from the South. I say we get the hostages out soon."

"Team one, secure the main gate, team five come down and secure the vehicle bay. Team two, hold position and continue to monitor the inbound enemies, and when you get done, make sure the terrorists can't use any of that equipment. Use your imagination. All other teams round up the hostages and bring them to the vehicle bay. We'll be going around, and set up some traps for our new visitors."

Tycho finished pulling off the acess panel to the computers. "Ah-ha, hardware, memory bank, processors, hook up to the monitoring stations. One grenade should wipe everything out. Glad those clods there were carrying some."
Narm sat glued to the monitor screen. "Yeah, should do the trick. Save one of those grenades for under the monitor. Looks like they don't have any flyers inbound." He checked his chrono, it had been five minutes since he reported in the hostiles.

Jingo entered the room, inside frightened hostages stared as him and Stonefish entered. A single terrorist raised a blaster to oppose them. Jingo shot him down before he aimed. "Everyone follow me, we're here to rescue you." Stonefish yelled. Immediately the embassy hostages started moving. "Go to the vehicle bay, we're going to get you out of here."
The hostages passed by Jingo and followed Stonefish who was leading them out the door.

Narm checked the screens again. He saw five fast moving blips on a course for the embassy. "Hey Team one, we got something inbound, probably bikes of some sort, they'll be at the embassy in a couple minutes."

"Team one reporting, we got it covered." Master said into his com. Argon was busy setting up his gun to provide cover fire. "Team three here, we've rounded up all the hostages, we're leading them to the vehicle bay." Stonefish came in through the com.
"[This is team five, we've comandeered all the vehicles, there should be enough transport for the hostages and ourselves.]" Deathwookie growled through the com.
"Team one, contacts inbound, you should be able to see them. Main strike force is still ten minutes away. I've contacted the dropships, they'll meet us at the rendevous." Narm finished.
"Team two, good work. Take out the systems, and head out, we'll pick you up at the main gate." Kuroishi said.
Argon yelled a warning. "Master, here they come!" He began firing with the T-21, the fast moving speeder bikes were closing in with they're guns firing. "Watch out for the one with the sidecar."
Another came by, and a repeating blaster on it took chunks out of the ground. Master hugged the wall and fired into it from behind. His bolts connected with the anti-grav generator, and blew it apart. The debris flew into the side of the embassy and impacted against the wall. "We've got a couple more inbound, they're dropping troops off." Master watched three slow up enough to each let off two terrorists before speeding up to assault the embassy. Argon let out a burst from his T-21 and another bike was turned into flaming debris.

Inside the embassy Kuroishi felt something slam into the wall. "What was that? Looks like the party has started." He finished rigging the grenade to the terrorist's body. "You finished there?" He asked Geist.
Geist finished tying something to one of the bodies, and looked up. "Yeah boss, time to head down to the vehicle bay?"
"Okay, when they get here, they'll find some nasty suprises. Teach them to mess with us." Kuroishi picked up his rifle, and jogged down the coridor, with Geist following.

"Okay, ready to set it?" Narm asked Tycho.
"Sure, this'll make a big bang." Tycho armed the grenade and threw it into the access panel, then backed out of the room. An explosion ensued, and when he looked back in the computer was in ruins.
"My turn." Narm took another grenade, and found the other access area. "Looks like yours did most of the work, but just in case." Narm thre the grenade inside, and ran out of the room. After the explosion, and smoke cleared, Narm and Tycho looked in, with satisfied expressions on their faces.
"Time to get outside, before Master and Argon kill everyone." Tycho said to Narm as they ran for the main gate.

Jingo and Stonefish finsihed getting the hostages into the varied assortment of embassy cars and trucks. Deathwookie stood on the back of a repulsor truck with a rifle, while frightened hostages loaded up. Kuroishi, and Geist ran into the vehicle bay. "We're here." Kuroishi yelled.
"Good, why don't you take this truck then." Stonefish yelled.
"I've got this car." Jingo hollered. He looked at Geist. "Why don't you take the other truck.
Stonfish opened the main access door to the outside, and ran back to his car. The two trucks, and two cars filed out of the ambassy. They could here the shooting at the main gate.
Kuroishi watched Team's one and two fighting off the attackers.

Master fired rounded the corner and fired another burst. Narm who was beside him was firing at a speeder bike going overhead. He was rewarded by a large explosion, as the debris slammed into the embassy wall. "Just like old times." He said to Master.
Argon was busy unloading into the flying attackers. Tycho was covering him from the terrorists on the ground. He turned and noticed the four vehicles from the embassy approaching. Deathwookie was on the roof of one of the trucks, firing at the speeder bikes. With the combined fire, the last of the arial attackers was taken down. "Hey, can we get a ride out of here?" Tycho yelled. He looked around, the embassy courtyard was torn up by blaster bolts, as well as the ground around him. The vehicles approached, and he saw how tightly the embassy hostages were packed.
Kuroishi pulled up to the main gait and looked at Argon. "Want to ride? Set that gun up on the roof of the truck." Argon replied, he got in and set the T-21 up on the roof of the cab. Behind him some of the hostages were sitting, and Deathwookie stood up at the end. Master and Narm set up in the other truck, while Tycho got it one of the cars. "Ready to roll out!" Kuroishi yelled as he gunned the engine and drove toward the rendeavous point on the hill.

Master felt the repulsor truck shudder, then move forward. A few of the terrorists on the ground started firing at them, but the Fallen Angels quickly took them out. As they approached the hill, Master saw the two dropships coming down. Unfortunately, when he looked behind, all he saw was the three hover tanks closing in. With several trucks full of troops. "Damn, we got some heavies following us. We better move quick."

Kuroishi swerved the truck, and hit the brake in front of the first dropship. Captain Greyscuttle stood in the main doorway, a blaster pistol in hand. "Get those people in here, I can only hold for a few minutes."
Kuroishi yelled. "FA, take covereing positions, pump as much fire into the approaching forces as possible. All you hostages, get into the dropships, now, move it!" The Fallen Angels were running to the edge of the hill, moving through the hostages who were running to the dropships. The overlooked the approaching enemy and started firing.
Kuroishi was disturbed by a tap on the shoulder. He turned around and saw Snake looking at him, a blaster rifle in his hands. "What are you doing here, shouldn't you be with your squad?"
Snake shrugged. "I got done early, and flew out when the second dropship left. We got here just in time for your evac summons."
"Thanks, but you missed all the good action." Kuroishi said.
"Nah, you've got to here my story. That was nuts what went on, but another time." He ran to join the rest of the FA members. Kuroishi followed.

Argon knelt with his T-21, but noticed he was just about out of ammo. Master was beside him, firing off also. He looked and saw Snake and Kuroishi join the fray. The number of hostages dwindled, and it looked like the last had gotten on the dropship. "Okay people, move out, it's time to get out of here." Kuroishi yelled, firing down at the enemy troops, who were very close. The Fallen Angels retreated by fireteams, each one covering the other. When they got close to the dropships, they all broke into runs, closing in on their escape. The two ships were now just hovering, as the Fallen Angels loaded up. Argon reached the second one, just as it started lifting off. He jumped, and grabbed hold of the flooring. He looked down and saw the terrorist troops cresting the hill. As he looked up he saw Jingo firing back at them. Narm reached down and helped pull Argon into the ship, as blaster bolts impacted next to his hands. He finished pulling himself into the ship, and the bay door closed behind him. Several of the Fallen Angels were around him, and a bunch of the hostages. He lay on the deck of the ship breathing hard. On the com Kuroishi's voice came through. "Fallen Angels, you did some good work today, you should all be proud."

[Bet you all forgot we have to kill the terrorists too. But now that the hostages are out and stealth is no longer an issue I think we can finnally have some fun.]

Kuroishi looked at the status read outs and smiled as he knew that something was about to happen that would not make the AHC entirely happy but the Fallen Angels would be following orders to the letter.

"Fallen Angels our mission is only half done, do not forget we also have to kill every last terrorist on that planet. Since they have seen fit to break out heavy vehicales and all due respect to Talon we must follow orders and to do so means breaking out heavier firepower. Since all the hostages are secured we now no longer have to keep the property damage to a minimum and we can make as much noise as we like. To complete this mission I am authorizing the raiding of the Sweetums' equipment lockers. I recomend lots of explosives, rocket launchers, and any other neat toys good for taking out both vehicales and large groups of infantry." Kuroishi ordered as he saw a sea of smiles great his orders.

Kuroishi now free of the restraint of the first objective quickly donned his Varneck Marine Combat Armor and grabed his Double Barreled Blaster Rifle, Timbique Edition Zues, eight fragmantary grenades, four 1kg blocks of C-8, six power packs, and six drum clips for his Timbique Edition Zues.

By the time Kuroishi was finished he saw that the rest of the Fallen Angels were simillary equiped.

"Survelance indicates that the enemy has decided to reoccupy the now crippled embassy. Thus our objective is to take out every single terrorist. I know that the AHC would appreciate us leaving the building intact but if they really meant it they would have included that in the orders. We'll drop right in the same spot as last time except we won't need the two man fire teams this time. With the addition of Snake we now have eleven people to go in and take out what looks like a combined arms regiment of troops. Intel has not been able to give us exact composition but GUESSWORK has provided us with some rough numbers and probable locations." Kuroishi finished his briefing and was waiting for the ussual questions.

"Isn't guesswork something rather poor to take as an accurate information source?" Snake piped up from his spot.

"Not really considering that it is the group of people, droids, and computers that surveys, logs, and tracks all enemy movements for the Fallen Angels from orbit here in the Sweetums. As a group we reffer to it as GUESSWORK. Considering how accurate they are that is actually a poor name for them. Any other questions?" Kuroishi replied.

Kuroishi was amazed that none of the Fallen Angels asked the ussual questions that they should already know the answers to.

Now all that had to be done was the drop.

The dropship rattled and shook in turbulence as it shot down through the upper atmosphere, inside the Angels were strapped in their seats getting shaken up again by the drop, but at least there was no HALO jump to do this time.

"Three minutes people. Gear up!" called Kuroishi from his seat at the monitoring station towards the front, as he released the catches on the restraints. Various clunks and clicks could be heard as weapons were readied, clips and power packs inserted.

Stonefish straightened his black trenchcoat, and adjusted the pack strapped to his back. He proferred the box he was holding in one hand to Jingo, who shook his head.

"You should try it," said Fish, "This stuff'll turn you into a sexual tyrannosaur. Just like me."

"Thirty seconds people," called the Lieutenant.

Stonefish picked up his weapon.

"Don't you worry down there," he muttered, chambering the first round, "Old painless is coming."

"Fallen Angels, Proceed on my mark! We're almost to the drop zone. 30 seconds and counting." Kuroishi called through the comm link, he looked up and smiled proudly at his men.

"I don't like it." Jingo muttered outloud, checking the firing mechanism of his gun.

"Don't like what." Stonefish said adjusting his rifle.

"This mission. It doesn't feel right." Jingo replied moodily.

"It's because you didn't accept my offer." Stonefish said, holding the black box again, that same slow smile growing across his face.

"20 seconds..." Kuroishi yelled.

Jingo smiled in return. "No, it's not that. It's just that..." he paused angrilly, and slapped the clip into his gun. "Curses! I don't like it! Why would the terrorists stay there? It doesn't make any sense?!" Jingo said, making sure all his gear was tightly secured on his person.

"Terrorists don't make sense." Stonefish said mildly. "They cause destruction and fear. That's their purpose."

"But without any hostages there's no reason to retake the embassy!" Jingo countered. "There's no one to terrorize."

"Don't worry about it. Once you get started shooting and blowing things up and you'll feel better." Stonefish rejoindered happily.

"10 seconds..." Came Kuroishi's voice. "Get ready people"

"Maybe they're there for a different reason..." Jingo whispered, an awful premonition coming over him.

"Four... three... two... on--"

Jingo suddenly felt the dropship shudder hard, and tilt erratically to the left. The Fallen Angels were slammed like playthings against the far wall, boxes of gear and ammo piled all about them in heaps. Jingo then felt his stomach rise up to his heart as they started loosing altitude.

"What the. . .?" Jingo yelled pushing himself off Stonefish.

"Dunno!" Stonefish called back. The black box he had been holding was on the floor of the dropship, it's contents blowing in the instant maelstrom. Jingo saw the entire rear of the cargo hold was filled with flames. And then he saw a hole the size of a rancor.

Kuroishi was unconcious, one arm still wrapped around a harness strap, a large metal crate was on top of him. Jingo noticed idly that Kuroishi was missing a boot. One bare foot standing in contrast to the solid looking combat boots and gear that made them so fearsome. Several other troopers were pulling themselves to their feet. The dropship was now in a wild dive.

"Pilot!" Jingo called through his comlink "What's our status?"

There was nothing but static.

Jingo pulled himself toward the forward cabin. Sparks were issuing from the door's panel as he hit it with his elbow. It slid upwards ponderously slower than normal. Jingo saw that both pilot and copilot were either dead or unconcious. Blood covered the cockpit controls. Jingo saw the ground below coming closer and closer. Swearing he pulled the pilot from the seat and strapped himself in, taking the controls. "Stonefish, get up here!" he called.

A few seconds later Stonefish arrived. He cursed when he saw the mayhem in the cockpit.

"What happened?" He said, pulling the copilot out and taking the controls.

"They hit us hard!" Jingo cried. "Hard and good! They knew we were coming!" Jingo then called through his commlink to the others in the squad. "Fallen Angels, we've sustained serious engine damage. Three of the engines are down. We've got one barely functioning. We're going down, and we're going down fast! Get secured now!"

"We're losing altitude too fast!" Stonefish yelled pulling on the controls. "Stang! What'd they hit us with?"

"Dunno. Somethin' big. They freaking had tanks last time. Who knows what they got for us now?" Jingo yelled.

Stonefish swore in frustration.

"Yeah, well See if you can shut down engines one through three. We don't want them to blow us to pieces!" Jingo called.

"Will do!" Stonefish replied, flipping various switches while Jingo pulled with all his might on the stick.

"Good work!" Jingo said. "Engines one through three are shut down." The shuttle was now in more or less a controlled dive.

"Where we gonna dump her?" Stonefish called.

"I dunno, but it's gonna be somewhere in the city! I'll do my best." Jingo gave a fierce almost maniacal smile.

"Just keep us in one piece." Stonefish replied. He knew Jingo was a top notch pilot, an ace. But this was a bulky drop ship, not a nimble fighter.

"Like I said I'll do my best!" Jingo cried. "Impact in 10 seconds!" He was able to get some control back to the ship, enough to level out the nose some what. They were still going down, but at least they'd scrape across the landscape instead of punch a hole through the permacrete. Was one way better than the other? Jingo wondered as the city scape sped bast them. They narrowly passed over a spire or steeple of some sorts.

"Here goes nothin!" Jingo called. There was a loud scraping and popping sound sound as their armoured hull tore through trees, houses and wires.

Then there was blackness....

Kuroishi finnally came to with Master and Geist standing over him.

"Frak what hit us?" Kuroishi asked as he tried to stand and found out very quickly the hard way his left leg is broken.

"Dunno yet boss but it messed you up pretty bad. Your left leg was mangled so bad that your boot came off, that's pretty bad considering your wearing marine armor." Geist replied.

"Frak. Looks like I'm not going to be much help this time out. Though we should get out of here before the terrorists send out some tanks. Geist as XO your going to have to take charge of the Fallen Angels." Kuroishi replied.

"Roger boss." Geist responded.

"Master go out there, take Argon with you and have a look around. Everyone else start scavanging. These are pretty much my last orders for a while." Kuroishi said he started surveying the immediate situation.

Kuroishi knew that the Fallen Angels were sitting targets right now and the only thing he could do about it was give orders. It had been a while since Kuroishi was forceably removed from command, he only hoped Geist would be able to pick up the unexpected slack.

"All right," Geist said, tossing the deathwookiee his axe. "Once we get our **** together I want Tycho to find us some good firing possitions. Once we have those set up, we wait."

"Err... Boss," Jingo said. "They're going to know where we crashed and come after us."

"Exactly," Geist responded. "Our job here, people, is to kill terrorists. That is what we are going to do. We have explosives, we have weapons, we have our own ability to kill quickly and silently."

"When they come for us, hit them quickly, move to a new possition, and hit them again. Keep out of sight. As long as the bad guys don't know where to shoot back we will have the advantage. When they break, and they will break, we follow them and keep hitting them. We follow them back to their base and kill them there too."

"Boss," Geist said to Kuroshi, "We'll get you set up in a house well away from here with a camera feed. Can't let you miss anything. Ferox, keep an eye on him."

"Lets move it people. We have blood to spill."

Stonefish paused briefly to retrieve the remains of his chewing tobacco, finding that the tin was mostly empty. That had cost him a lot. He Picked up his share of the mobile command equipment and jumped out of the only exit available from the dropship: a large rent in the starboard side. Possibly what had been left by whatever missile had hit them.

He found himself in a small park in the middle of the city, about five miles from the embassy itself, which was located on the outskirts. The dropship had ploughed a massive furrow in the ferrocrete road and soil of the park itself. Trees and gas mains poked out of it like obscene worms exposed to the sky, and spitting fire. Dawn was just beginning in the sky to the northeast. Looking for a defensible position, he saw the remains of a park-keeper's station on the edge of the furrow, offering two and part of a third solid permacrete wall, and an open field of view on the other sides.

"Tycho," he spoke into his comm, "park-keeper's hut looks good. Want to set up there for the moment?"

"Looks good, Fish, but we'd better not get too settled, since we may have to move on from there."

"Negative on that," Geist cut in, "Kuroishi needs something a little more hidden if he's to stay well-protected."

"Roger, Lightbringer, looking elsewhere."

Looking further afield, Tycho spied a metal club just on the edge of the park, it looked like the entrance lead down into a basement. He communicated this to Geist.

"That looks good, we'll clear out the locals and set up shop there, looking at two, maybe three exits tops. Cover two with my special surprise and leave someone with the boss."

[Well, this post'll probably screw some things up, but deal with it! :-) -- nothin' like a minor plot shift]

Jingo's head still hurt from his close encounter with the dropships instrument console. Dizziness and pain periodically washed over him, but he managed to continue standing. He had obtained a nasty cut above his left eye that was swelling nicely. He took several deep breaths, let his mind go calm. The pain was still there, but it was pain that gave clarity more than confusion.

Jingo and Stonefish were helping Kuroishi to hobble into the basement. The locals weren't very happy about leaving.

"I ain't leavin'" a big swarthy fellow growled back at Stonefish's command that all locals were to depart the building. The man had red hair and a scruffy beard the color of rust and with arms the size of a wooky's.

"What's your name, friend?" StoneFish asked as he settled Kuroishi into position.

"Name's Dreds. And who might you be?"

"Your worst nightmare if you don't comply with our demands." Stonefish replied evenly and cooly, sizing the man up. Stonefish saw the glint of metal from within the mans open shirt. A hold out blaster of sorts. Stonefish looked at him pointedly and raised an eyebrow.

"You ain't gonna scare me like them terrorists out there." Dreds replied not even blinking. "Now you can push the issue and we can go at this in a blaze of glory and one of us is going to end up dead." the man paused and gave a large toothy smile.

"I'm in no mood for games." Stonefish replied, raising his gun and leveling it at the mans chest. "This is going to quickly turn into a war zone and if you don't want it to start by the pull of my trigger, I suggest you leave."

Jingo raised an eye at that and then shrugged trying to cover a smile. It was Stonefish, afterall, and Jingo could see he was still pretty upset about losing his chewing tobacco. "Err, Fish." Jingo interjected. "The man's a civie, I don't think---"

Just then the sound of heavy blaster cannons could be heard muffled through the upper floor.

"StoneFish and Jingo!" Geist's voice called through their commlinks. "Is Kuroishi safe?"

"For the moment, sir!" Jingo replied, holding one hand to his earpiece. "We've got him secure in the basement."

"Good, 'cause we've got incomming! Two hover tanks and----"

Just then a large explosive shock wave was felt by all. Dreds and StoneFish both looked at Jingo wide eyed.

"Geist?" Jingo called. "Come in!"

Silence.

Stonefish swore and began running back up the basement stairs and into the park. He got halfway up when Geist's voice came back into their commlinks, interspersed with several explitives.

"Stang! There goes the dropship!" Geist yelled in exasperation. A secondary explosion rocked the basement and the light's flickered and went dead.

"We didn't move quickly enough and they've got us ranged. They're playing this one very smart, blasting anything thats moving, civilian and otherwise to rubble! We've got to pull out and change locations!"

"Figures!" Jingo muttered to himself. "What else could go wrong?"

"Geist!" Jingo heard through the commlink. "Tycho here! Narm, Master and me have got multiple tangos in-bound. I count over a hundred of them. They're armed with high powered military blaster rifles, stormie armour and most are in mobile hover skiffs and---" there was static on the line for a moment. "---heavily pinned down! Repeat they've spotted us and are opening fire! We've got laser fire from all directions and are pinned down! Request immediate assistance!"

"Just hold still!" Geist called back. "We're thinking of something."

"Like they're going to be able to move at all." Jingo said sarcastically, rolling his eyes. "Something isn't right!" he called outloud.

"'Course it ain't right!" Stonefish snarled back! "We're gettin' a whoopin'!"

"There's too many of them for just a terrorist action! And they're organized. Dreds," Jingo turned to the large man and addressed him. "Do you know anything about this?"

The man had somehow managed to arm himself with a combact rapid-fire military close assault weapon and was covering the stairs.

"Dreds!"

"Yeah?" The man grinned that toothy smile again, still watching the main entrance.

"What do you know about this?" Jingo said pointing to the sound of the fighting outside.

"Well..." the man paused and spit in disgust. "They came just before you did?"

"They?" Jingo asked.

"The occupation force. The Preatorian 1st Lancers and the Preatorian 3rd Calvary." The man replied. "We haven't been able to get any word off the planet. All communications are down and all starports are sealed shut." the man paused and then sighed, "There's no way you could have known."

Kuroishi stood up his face a mask of fury. "Occupation force?!? What are you talking about, man! They're a terrorist cell, not a freaking army!"

"Don't know where you're getting your information, friend." Dreds replied smugly. "But at one time, yes, they operated under the cloak of anonymity and terrorism. But lately they've somehow managed to arm themselves with the latest equipment and their numbers have swollen."

"You seem to know an awful lot." Kuroishi replied.

"It's my job to know." the man replied simply. "Anyway, they're headquarted in the embassy. And they're looking for something there. I don't know what. But something. Some heavy digging equipment was brought in yesterday and they're tearing the place to shreds.

Just then the sound of many booted feet were filling the upper floor.

"Looks like we're going to have company." Dreds whispered and smiled.

The first five enemy troopers that attempted to enter the basement were met with withering fire from Stonefish and Dreds. They're dead bodies rolled to the bottom of the stairs.

"Time to move!" Dreds said, still grinning. He lept past Stonefish who remained covering the stairs.

"Come. Bring your wounded leader and come down through this trap door. It leads to the sewers. You'll be safe for the time being there." Dreds said. Jingo helped Kuroishi down into the sewers, following the big man.

"Come on, Stonfish!" Jingo called.

"But Geist and the others..." He said.

"We can't get to them. We'll just have to hope for the best."

Just then Stonefish heard the door to the basement open and he pulled his gun up. "Come and get some!" he muttered. But no one came. There was the sound of beeping and Stonefish started to run as two thermal detonators bumped down the stairs.

[You just love these plot twists, don't you Jingo?!]

Everything went slow. Stonefish felt like he was running through syrup, and had weights on his arms as he fumbled with the catches on his backpack. The grenades bounced ever so slowly down the stairs, gracefully dropping to the floor. He could see the timers on them counting down to zero almost too fast. He couldn't move quick enough. Diving for the trapdoor, he felt a rush of heat on his back, and then a wet splash as he hit the murky water below. Then Jingo and Dreds were pulling him up.

"Spit," ordered Jingo, "Who knows what's in this foul muck."

Stonefish coughed up a mouthful of the horrid stuff and fumbled in his breast pocket, pulling out a long, slim, silvery cylinder. He breathed a sigh of relief, which turned into a coughing fit bringing up more sewer water.

"Two things do," he said, "my mouth and my back."

Jingo looked down his back and saw a few holes where shrapnel from the grenade had got through.

"You're lucky there's not more holes there."

"Kevlar reinforced," he coughed, tugging his long coat.

"Okay, what's the plan now?" asked Jingo looking at the unconscious Kuroishi.

"Guess we get ourselves a few miles and lay low a while. It won't take them long to figure out where we went."

[Well, since no one else is posting...]

A few hours later, Dreds, Jingo and Stonefish popped a drain cover and crawled up on to the street. There were Praetorian troops everywhere, patrolling the streets, shopping, you could even spot them in the bars relaxing. Stonefish was wondering what exactly the next move would be when...

"ID check," said a voice from behind him.

He turned to see a man in uniform with a Praetorian Lancers badge on his shoulder.

"Come on, guys, let's not make this hard. Let's see your identification."

"Don't have any on me at the moment," said Fish.

"You know there was an announcement over the local comm system requiring all civilians to carry their identification with them at all times."

"No," replied Jingo, "We're with sewer maintenance, we've been conducting repairs down there since yesterday. Haven't had time to check the news in three days."

"Well," said the trooper, "I'm going to have to take you three back to headquarters to have your ID checked out. Please surrender all weapons immediately," he pointed his blaster at them, and to make the point another trooper stepped up behind and did the same.

"Don't have any on me just now. You can check if you like."

One of the troopers patted down Stonefish's coat and pulled out the nearly empty box of tobacco.

"What's this?" he asked.

"Just something to do on my spare time."

Jingo tensed, ready to attack, but Stonefish shook his head ever so slightly to indicate that they were to go along with these two for the moment. After all, Stonefish had a sudden and intense curiosity to know what the Praetorians were doing back at the embassy to need excavation equipment.

For the Glory of the Fallen Angels

Kuroishi was not happy right now, his left leg was pretty much useless and he had been knocked out twice in one day. To make matters worse Jahromnk had lied to him, Kuroishi always suspected some day Jahromnk would lie to him. Right now nothing besides doing everything he could to bail his troops out of trouble mattered.

Kuroishi always had a great deal of talent for going unnoticed under any circumanstances. Right now Jingo and Fish were being taken away by a guard but Kuroishi knew all he could do was make more trouble then the three of them could handle.

Kuroishi still had some ideas though.

The tanks the Preatorian Guards were using were most certainly nice tanks but every design has it's weakness. The particular weakness of these hover tanks was in thier hover system, if Kuroishi could just manage to move out a bit he could wreak some havoc without anyone even being the wiser.

Kuroishi was glad that the Fallen Angels had at least found his boot to use as a splint.

Kuroishi knew exactly what he had to do next and he knew it would hurt.

Removing his boot Kuroishi studied his leg and determined in how many places it was broken. Carefully grabbing at certain places Kuroishi set his own leg.

Kuroishi nearly passed out from the pain but at least he'd be able to hoble about on his own now.

He would wait for nightfall to make his next move.

Dreds swore under his breath as the guards patted down Stonefish, knowing he and Jingo were next. He wished they had had the opportunity to discuss options before the guards saw them. He smiled a toothy grin as a guard came up to him and patted him down.

"What's this?" the Praetorian trooper asked, raising an eyebrow as he pulled out Dreds' compact military rapid-assault blaster and eyeing it cautiously. "Nice gun. Not standard for civilians. These are banned. You know that, don't you? Only very very bad people own these. I sincerely hope for your sake that you aren't operating with the wrong kind of people." The guard looked Dreds hard in the eye.

Dreds didn't flinch. He said nothing but kept looking straight ahead the same big grin on his face.

The lead guard smiled slyly and nodded to his partner who roughly handcuffed Dreds' hands behind him. In a matter of seconds the second lancer shoved Dreds face first against a nearby wall and kicked open his legs. Then the first lancer kicked hard up into his groin. Dreds went down hard his eyes bulging in his skull, gasping for breath and spitting blood from a cut lip that hit the ferrocrete.

"That'll teach you! Rebel scum!" the leader said, eyeing Dreds with contempt. "Let's see what else you and your 'maintenance crew' friends are hiding."

Jingo was grabbed by the scruff of his neck and also handcuffed and then a large elbow came up hard into his face. "You think combat armour is a maintenance crew's gear? You did a nice job covering it up with your clothes, but we'll find whatever else you're hiding!"

An armoured elbow smashed into his face. The horizon rocked and the sky blurred with the ground as blinding tears came to his eyes. The lancer had removed his military blaster rifle along with several gernades and then slugged him hard in the stomach. Jingo was in great shape but so was the man who hit him. He doubled over to his knees and was promptly kicked in the head. He fell into a fetal position on the ground.

"You too." the lancer approached Stonefish.

"No problem. I don't have anything to hide." Stonefish said, holding out his hands for them to cuff. The leader snapped the cuffs around his wrists, and pushed him towards his subordinates.

"You're likely guilty by association with these other two." The leader replied grimly. "We'll see if any story you have bears water at headquarters." He snapped his fingers and six guards seemed to appear from nowhere.

"Leiutenant," the man said. "Take these men to headquarters. This one," he pointed to Stonefish, "may be telling the truth. The other two are definitely part of the resistance. See that they're made to regret that."

"Yessir!" the squad's leader replied crisply and the three were hustled from the street and into an armoured hover car and whisked away with a hover motorcade providing overwatch.

Once they were gone the guard picked up his commlink. "General, we've picked up more resistance fighters and are sending them your way for interrogation. Also, I have reason to believe they're using the sewers as a base of operations. I'm personally conducting a search and mapping operation with 20 squads. If there are more sewer rats, we'll find them. Kresh out!" The man stalked off yelling out orders, getting the necessary men and gear together.

Kuroishi swore as he overheard Kresh. He realized his position would be quickly compromised and that he would have to act fast.

Geist called the rest of the Fallen Angels together a few klicks away. Ten of them had managed to break away from their pursuers and get to this point, however Jingo, Stonefish, and the boss were missing.

"Grrr, rooouarrh wohorriiin groool ." The deathwookiee complained.

"No kidding." Geist said. "But you're going to have to split him with Argon I think."

"What's that?" Argon asked, having just arived.

"The deathwookiee is going to eat the military intelligence guy that told us this was just a simple terrorist killing job."

"So what now?" Narm wanted to know.

"There are now ten of us, and at least a hundred of them. Conventional war is no longer an option." Geist said. "We disperse, each of us setting out on his own. Our goal is still to kill the bad guys. Kill them anywhere we can."

"Still trying to complete the job?" Master asked. "We can do more damage together."

Geist shook his head. "The more of us there are together, the more likely we will be caught. Alone, if one of us gets caught, only one of us gets caught. And before any of you even suggest it, WE ARE NOT PULLING OUT. There is something going on here that we don't know about, and we still have comrades missing. We either need to find them, or avenge them a hundredfold."

"Get your gear together and get moving." Geist said, "and good luck. We all need it."

Stonefish winced inwardly at the treatment of Jingo and Dreds, but found it necessary, and the easiest way to get to the embassy. Fortunately for him they hadn't searched thoroughly enough to find his emergency blade strapped underneath his left wrist. True it was only about an inch long, but they had only used fabric zip-cuffs on the three of them, and as soon as he got a minute they wouldn't be wearing them any more.

The guards lead them over to a city police station which had been turned into a Praetorian garrison, and herded them into the back of an armoured car. Stonefish couldn't see any cameras or surveillance equipment installed in back, so this was the perfect opportunity to relieve himself of the cuffs. Even better, the two guards both decided to sit up front, leaving just the three of them in back. Stonefish slipped the knife down out of its sheath and dropped it into the palm of his hand. Working carefully he got it into his fingers and began to cut away at the zip-cuffs.

They came free a few minutes later with the slight sound of the last strands breaking. Moments later the truck pulled into the embassy parking garage, and halted in one of the bays. Stonefish lolled his head over on its side and pretended passing out.

The guards opened the rear doors.

"Right you three. Out!" one of them said levelling his blaster into the truck.

Stonefish heard Dreds and Jingo stand up and move out of the truck. He remained in his pose. He heard one of the guards get up into the truck.

"Come on you, get up and get out!" he slapped Stonefish, who didn't move, "I said..."

He didn't get chance to finish the statement as Stonefish snapped up with his right hand catching the guard on the chin, and at the same time grabbed the rifle out of the guard's right hand with his left and pointed it and shot the other guard at the back of the truck.

"Right," he said moving out of the truck to sever the others' bonds, "we're in. Now let's find out what the hell they're looking for in here."
