Hi guys! I was watching the Star Wars series yesterday, and I found sumthing odd. Did ObiWan Kenobi reely die? Or just Dissapeer? Y didnet luke ask him that? LOL. Wots with the dissaoering act anyway? When Qui Gon Jinn died he never dissapeared! lol. Neather did darth Vader. Another little thing i noticed...Evrytime u see a jedi die , their saber turns off. No jedi dies with it left on..lol. Maybe it's automatic. "OH he's dead, better turn off his saber." Lol. (God this is pathetic, picking flaws in a movie..lol) Cya!

If a saber is dropped it'll turn off. there's some switch on them to keep them on if you want to throw them or something.
Thats what ive gathered from books ive read anyway.

Obi-Wan was very much dead when the lightsaber cut his head off. He became one with the Force (that's what the term means ) and when his hand went bye-byes his saber was shut off because there wasn't any pressure on the switch. And there is something to lock it for when a Jedi throws their saber, Raz.
On the note about some Jedi not fading away, there is no really good answer. Some people ask why some Dark Jedi don't explode when they die and some do.. Again, no good answer.

I do not know the reason WHY Darth Vader and Qui Gon Jinn didn't disappear right away, but I know the answer to the saber situation:

As Talon said, the saber's handle is "pressurized", if you will. As long as there's pressure on the handle, it remains ignited, if the pressure releases, the saber deactivates itself.

I read in one of the books (I don't remember which), that all Vader left behind when he died was his empty body armor. It may have been heir to the empire or Jedi Academy. Maybe when he died in RotJ, he just went into a short coma and then died. I have no reason why Qui-Gonn didn't.
