Yes, this is only a little poll. I want to know who likes Jar Jar and who not. Just post a short message why u dont like/like Jar Jar Binks, the funny Gungan in Star Wars, Episode I. Let me start: I hate Jar Jar. He is too funny for a Star Sars Movie. The fight about the galaxys isnt funny, and normaly Star Wars movies are just COOL. But Jar Jar..is everything, but not cool. Well, I'll be the first poster who would say, "Sure, I like him." Jar Jar Binks is mainly a sidestory of some sort. He makes the movie a little bit more funny, giving it a little humor. Bringing "Happiness to Sadness" sort of thing. /me remembers that Lucas put the droids in for that reason in the first place.... Coincidentally, they were both there in the movie too. Maybe it was a tie-in to promote toy sales. Jar Jar had no reason to be in Ep 1.. He didn't make the story any different. I think that they story would have done well without a bumbling, lisping idjut. I agree that Jar-Jar is a clumsy idiot! I don't hate him or think that he shouldn't be in the movie. He made the movie funnier. I enjoyed criticizing what he did. I also agree with Cos, he is a sidestory and yes, I did like him. I hate to break it to those of you who don't, but he is also going to be in Episode2. I really don't understand why though. He owed Qui-Gonn his life, but he died, so what is his purpose in EP2? Did he become attached to Anakin? Obi-Wan? I read an interesting article about the first scenes in Episode II. There is Jar ar in the first scene, together with Queen Amidala and some Guards. They come out of a Star Star Ship on Coruscant... I agree with your comment Stormtroooper. It does suck that he won't be very funny.  But on the other hand, maybe he will actually be of some help instead of just a clutz. I would say that if there were a character like Jar Jar (or even NAMED Jar Jar for that matter) in the original Star Wars movies, we would probably not even be in a club based on Star Wars, or probably even remember that there was such a movie (i just happen to be a few years too young...). The whole sequence of the movies coming out seems to make much more sense now. I consider Ep IV-VI many times better than Ep I. The main factors in this are the acting (George Lucas must not have seen Jake Lloyd in "Jingle all the Way") and the Gungans. Movies that are more serious than "Barney" shouldn't have characters like that in them. If George Lucas set out to make a comedy, then maybe putting such a character in the movie would have been justified. However, i don't think comedy was what he was going for. Seemed more serious to me. And as for the Happiness in the middle of sadness idea, would you invite a clown to a funeral? In the middle of people dying, Jar Jar is doing his whole "Look at me! I'm happy and retarded! Please kill me!" thing... Sounds like the same thing to me... Here's how I think the movie should go: The movie opens up with a shot of Jar Jar and his gungan friends drunk trying to fish, but Jar Jar is too drunk and he falls out of the boat. Meanwhile a mysterious person is cloning various vicious sheep and mice. Jar Jar finally makes it to shore, and when he wakes up, he is in a cave.
