[this is, I suppose, sort of a runon kind of story, but I must ask that nobody who posts here try to throw in any plot twists or anything, just keep your additions to the scope of your own characters and not try to modify the storyline. There is a specific way I want this story to go]

The dead were found early that morning, killed by precision blaster shots that nobody had heard. The supply base had been looted quite effectively. Munitions, weapons, medical suplies had been taken quickly and quietly, without raising a single alarm.

The duty to find out what had happened fell upon Storm platoon.

Stormtrooper 1026 called Sergeant Major Geist into his office.

"You wanted to see me, sir?" Geist asked.

"Yes, seargent," Stormtrooper 1026 replied. "You heard what happened at the supply station last night?"

"Yes sir," Geist replied. "Terrorists or rebels. Whoever was working guard screwed up big time."

"That isn't important," Stormie replied. "According to your service record you spent a fair amount of time as a criminal investigator, well over twenty years working Imperial Center's underbelly. You have also had some time working as a proffesional terrorist," Stormtrooper looked up from the file he was quoting. "You sound just like the man I want to find these raiders. This attack represents a clear danger to Vast Empire security, and we cannot allow it to go unpunished. Find them Seargent, and deal with them."

Geist nodded. "Understood. Do I have any help for the investigation?"

"Do you have someone in mind?"

"Jingo Yatani, maybe others later."

Stormie nodded. "All right. I expect results, Sergeant."

"I'll deliver," Geist said simply, then left the office.

-----

"So why me?" Jingo asked.

"Why not?" Geist replied. "You looked bored, besides, you had some experience as the Intelligence boss in the IW. Having someone around that can think like a spook should help."

Jingo nodded, then looked over the scene. "This was some fast work," he said. "It would be a wonder if our side even got a shot off."

Geist knelt over the body of a fallen VE trooper and picked up his weapon. It was still warm to the touch. "They got some shots off. Not many, but they did. I'm not a medical examiner but I place time of death at about four hours before local sunrise, based on how hot the weapon still is."

"Sounds like you've done this before," Jingo said.

"Twenty six years leading a squad of troopers in some of the most forgotten parts of Coruscant, most of what you have to do is investigate crimes." Geist looked around the scene again. "No imediate sign of anything being dragged away, though landspeeders could obliterate any evidence of that. For now lets assume that the garrison got off a few wild shots and didn't hit anything before they got taken down. It makes sense because no alarm was ever sounded."

"Pretty clean op," Jingo said. "Worthy of us almost."

"Almost," Geist said, picking up a small fragment. He studdied it carefully before tossing it to Jingo. "Recognize it?"

Jingo looked over the blaster scorched fragment carefully. "Armor, some high quality stuff." Fine blue lines could be seen all along the surface of the fragment. "What are these?"

"Mimetic Microcircutry," Geist replied, then continued before Jingo could ask what that meant. "It shifts the color of the armor to match the surrounding terain. Essentially highly effective all purpose camoflague." Geist looked around at the open plain the supply base sat on. "That was how they could get close enough to the base to take everyone out before an alarm could be raised. Almost nobody uses it because it is so blasted expensive to buy and maintain."

"That should make it easy to track..." Jingo trailed off. "Wait, back on Eridani, Nezumi's men had this stuff. I remember because it scared the hell out of a lot of my men when they just sort of popped up like that. You don't suppose..."

"I assumed that all of Nezumi's men died on Gauss," Geist said, "It is possible that some got out, but why would they come here and raid this base, and how could they afford to maintain this kind of hardware anymore with what few survivors there had to be?"

"They couldn't be comming after us, could they?"

"I hope not," Geist said. "We don't even know if they are still alive. Let's investigate all possible avenues before we start jumping at shadows."

Kuroishi looked up from his command chair aboard the Royal Barkalounger looking over the report that he had just recieved. Geist and Jingo were assigned to investigate the latest raid. In a way Kuroishi was suprised he wasn't assigned with his years of expierience as a MP, yet at the same time he was glad. Kuroishi was growing weary of unraveling enigmas and found himself more comfortable with the kind of work that was par for the Fallen Angels.

Kuroishi heard the chime that accompanied someone aaproaching the Royal Barkalounger. Kuroishi turned the gravity back down to standard and readjusted his Varneck Marine Combat Armor to restrain him as though he were on his homeworld.

Rising from the most comfortable chair in known space Kuroishi went to meet his guest at the hatchway.

To Kuroishi's suprise he saw another suit of occupied Varneck Marine Combat Armor there staring back at him.

"About time you got here. We have work to do." Daishi said.

No one was really sure which of the two was the clone and which was the real one. Though each did have different expiernces since after they were cloned, no one could tell as all previous memories from the original were fed into the clone.

"Right. I managed to machine a replacement rifle for the one I lost on Tadath. You and I both know Geist is quite likely to ask one of us to be assigned to his investigative team." Kuroishi responded as the duo proceeded to the main cabin.

"With the loss of Atrus and Sexton we will have many things to do in the future but right now we have this raid to worry about. Geist has already found mimetic armor scraps indicating that the attackers had at least suffered some hits." Daishi said as he sat in the command chair.

"Have you finished with the project I asked of you?" Kuroishi responded as he opened the rifle rack.

"Yes. I have one operational suit of Hysan Marine Combat Armor successfully refited for use by human wearers, though keep in mind that by the nature of this armor I will not be able to repair it, and reworking these things is bloody expensive and time consuming." Daishi replied.

"Good then when the call comes I would like for us to trade spots again." Kuroishi responded.

"Well I guess you deserve to sit back and relax, because the VEEC pretty much requirs no real effort to lead and with the VEEC around the scope of the TAC's job is a bit more limited then it used to be. The TIE Horror still needs work on the hull but right now all the other systems work fine." Daishi responded as he watched Kuroishi shuffle around some rifles.

Both knew that soon it would not matter which of them were where.

[No one needed that mental image, bad Stormy, bad > ]

Argon heard about the raid... type... thing, but he wasn't involved, so he didn't care.

What he did care about was his pet project, a new device.

[Geist, I'm gonna create a subplot here, hope it won't interfere with the main one...]

He put the backpack on himself, and pressed the button...

At first, nothing seemed to happen, then he felt a gut-wrenching lurch, as his body was jerked halfway out of phase with reality.

As he picked himself off the floor he couldn't remember falling on, he took a look in the mirror, seeing...

...nothing, so far the project was working.

He then walked outside, completely unseen by anyone else out there.

He walked in front of Cos and shoved him backwards, as the second part of his test.

Cos fell backwards, flat on his @$$.

Swearing, he picked himself up, wondering what had happened.

His test was over, but the temptation was too much, Viper tripped Cos as he continued on his way, then headed to Daishi's(Kuroishi's) office.

The test had gone perfectly, he was invisible to anything in normal phase, but he could still affect them.

Suddenly, he realised that, even though no member of the VE was in view, he was not alone.

He looked quickly behind him, and drew back in shock....

[go for it Argon! have fun, just remember since I can't see you its not my problem ]

"A very clean op, Agent Musashi," the shadowy figure known as control said in a small local bar.

"I'm sure Agent Rubicon would be happy to hear you aprove," the young Noghri replied, carefully polishing the...quaint... wooden sword he held. "You and your backers..." there was a brief pause as another man at the table smiled enigmatically, "...pay us a great deal of money for this, and we deliver quality results."

"Of course, of course," Control said. "Are you prepared for your next assignment?"

There was a significant pause as the Noghri and the other man at the table conversed in an unfamiliar language. Then the Noghri nodded. "Most certainly."

-----

"I've got a lead for you," Jingo told Geist a bit later. "A guy I talked to aledges that he loaned out a pair of heavy duty cargo haulers to a freind just before the raid, and he hasn't seen them since. Apparently intel has been keeping an eye on this 'friend' for a while now as a possible subversive."

"That ain't much to go on," Geist said. "Intel is probably tracking me as a possible subversive."

"Well you are, aren't you?" Jingo asked jokingly. "I mean being out of uniform all the time, past connections with terrorist forces, not saluting, letting a ghost loose in the barracks, covering the CO in marshmallow creme..."

"All right, all right," Geist said. "Lets go check out my revolutionary brother then, shall we?"

-----

The man in question owned a small store in a small town a fair distance away. When Geist and Jingo pulled up in a somewhat requisitioned landspeeder, the store seemed quite deserted. On the door was a sign that said "closed for the holidays".

"Are there any holidays comming up that I don't know about?" Jingo asked.

"My fifty fourth birthday, in about three months," Geist replied as he drew his sidearm and a flashbang.

"Somehow I don't think thats it," Jingo said as he drew his own weapon. "Isn't the flashbang a bit much?"

"Being an Imperial soldier means never having to say you're sorry," Geist said, "Take the back. I've got the front."

Jingo nodded and circled around back. When he signaled he was in position, Geist tossed in the flashbang. There was a muffled thump as the device detonated. Geist booted down the door and went in, gun at ready.

"****," he said as he found the owner.

"Back office is clear," Jingo said as he came in, "No bodies, no trace of any stolen weapons or suplies. No heavy cargo haulers either."

"One body here," Geist said. "The owner, Killed by a single blow to the head. Probably caused by a pipe or an especially dull sword swung awfully hard. Split the head open instead of cutting."

Jingo nodded, then picked up a fragment he found lying on the floor.

"Look at this," he said. "Its another piece of that mimetic armor, just like the one we found at the raid site." He looked around. "There aren't any weapons for this guy to fire, so how did this get here?"

Geist took out the original fragment and looked at it. "We only found one piece at the other site, but its bent and broken on all sides, not just one, like it was one of several fragments."

"Maybe they cleaned up all the fragments but missed one?"

"And accidentally dropped one here?" Geist asked. "No, there is a point to this. Some profesional operatives are vain men. They want to be recognized for their work. People like that tend to leave calling cards so the other side knows they are up against a real opponent. Its starting to look like thats what we have here."

"Oh great," Jingo said. "A proffesional operative. That's just what we need."

"I used to be with Imperial Intelligence, back in the day. Lots to do with little time. If you need me to examine the armor you found, I could probably figure out its place of manufacture and the company that manufactured it. From that, I can figure out who the company sold it to--it won't be who we're looking for, for that makes catching them too easy, and you said we were facing professionals," Tycho left a message with his higher-up.

He went back to his room and the barracks and relaxed. Its been days since he had even considered leaving the barracks, and about a week and a half since he had voluntarily seen anyone else that was part of his unit.

Tycho stood up, and sat down at the computer terminal, getting ready to play his favorite game--WARGAMES, part of the training naval officers receive, it pits two different forces together, and the player must co-ordinate the tactics to achieve victory. As the first flashes of turbolaser fire and the silvery blossoms of proton torpedoes appeared, a realization stuck into his mind. Closing down the simulation, Tycho went outside and got the first fresh air he had breathed for three days.

Stonefish stood in the hangar, rag in hand, polishing the TIE Forsaken. He'd been at it for the last few hours, generally ignoring the pranking that the others had been up to. The years were starting to catch up, and he just wasn't in the mood at the moment. It was coming up on his birthday again, and that's never a good time to be around Ramon Stonefish.

After he had finished polishing the hull, he moved over to a small workbench and retrieved the tool he used for cleaning the shield-projector runners, and a tub of grease. Climbing a ladder propped on a few rags against the hull, he began at the top, and slowly worked his way downwards, cleaning out all the runners and re-greasing them.
----------------------------

Two hours later, he sat in the cockpit, cloaking shield activated, listening to music and thinking of times past and times to come.

Argon drew so far back that he backed into a pole.

Looking at him in the same surprised manner were three obviously different species.

One type was tall, almost 3 meters, and less than 4 inches thick, even at the waist, with a face almost devoid of any human or other features.

They had merely a hole instead of a nose, two glowing yellow eyes, and a mouth like you saw on the mask from "Scream".

Their complexsion was white, purely white, and they wore rags that covered them but could not cover their incredibly thin figures.

The second species was somewhat in the median, being about 1.75 meters tall, with a reptilian face.

It's entire body seemed reptilian, from the face, to the massive scaled tail that it had instead of feet.

In their clawed hands they gripped anything and everything that people consistantly "lost", Viper felt a moment of exhileration at finding out where that one sock of a pair goes.

The third species stood about 1 meter tall, and was insectoid in appearance.

They stood on their hind legs, but their quota of six legs was completed in the fact that they had four arms.

Their torso was that of a human beings, but reduced in size, their head and abdomen(the abdomen stuck out behind them, but stopped short of dragging on the ground) were distinctly insect.

By their ghostlike complexsion from his view, they were obviously also halfway out of phase with reality, sometimes felt but never seen.

One of them was even holding a sock that Jingo had complained of losing a week ago...

For a moment, they stood there, he looked at them, they looked at him.

"uhhhh... Hello,"said Argon.

"tonaath,"said one of the taller type of aliens.

"szzzttt"said one of the reptilian aliens.

"kzzzbzzzkzztt"said one insect-like alien.

He quickly repeated what they had said, assuming that they were greetings, and that if they weren't, that they were acceptable to say when one was surprised.

One of the insect things pointed at him, waving it's arms wildly and chittering exitedly.

The reptiles immediately took a defensive stance and began hissing menacingly.

The tall aliens simply stood there, watching every move he did.

At this point, he decided to continue this later, and turned off the backpack.

With a gut-wrenching lurch, he found himself lying on the street, a street which had been full, but which was now empty.

Despite the fact that he saw no one around him, he still felt watched, and he could almost feel the aliens crowding around and touching him.

Almost, he couldn't quite make it out.

He decided to discuss this with the other Fallen Angels before bringing it before the VE, so he went to the barracks.

This fact, however, did not keep him from breaking into a run as he did so, he had to see the FA, Geist especially, and he had to do it fast.

Only after a few minutes of fresh air, Tycho sees Argon Viper sprinting across the terrain as if Lucifer himself was after his squadmate.

"I see he's been having sugar again. We need to get him a counselor...its like a drug to him now," Tycho commented.

His eyes glazed over and he then abruptly snaps out of it, and noticed that two standard hours had passed. "And thats what too much of that fake aldaris will do to me." Tycho continued on his way, stretching deep into thought, and enjoyed the winding walk through the "countryside".

"So what have you found out?" Stormie asked Geist and Jingo. He had called them in to discuss the investigation so far.

"We are dealing with a proffessional hitter," Geist said. "One who sees himself as an artist. He leaves fragments of armor behind as calling cards and he seems to have a fondness for ancient legends."

"How do you know that?" Stormie asked.

Jingo spoke at this point. "The examiners determined that the shop owner was killed by a single blow by a blunt intrument. They were also able to find traces of wood sealant in the wound, suggesting that the weapon used was made of wood and designed to stand up to heavy abuse. The shape of the wound indicates that the weapon was a long, curved blade like weapon, like a practice sword."

"What does that have to do with ancient legends?" Stormie asked.

Geist handled that one. "There is an ancient Coruscant legend about a master swordsman that used a wooden sword and was never defeated in battle. By taking on the methods of Musashi, our hitter could be trying to emulate the legendary swordsman."

"Or he could have forgotten a blaster when he went after the store owner and just beat him to death with a chair leg." Stormie suggested.

"So far he's been too professional for that, and the store owner was killed by a single blow perfectly placed against the head. That shows that the hitter has experience cracking skulls. This guy is an artist."

"All right," Stormie said, "you convinced me. So how do we find him?"

"Tycho is trying to track down the origins of the mimetic armor. It won't get us the perpetrators, but we hope it will tell us who owned the armor before it got blasted to bits, and that might help us figure out who got their hands on the fragments."

It was later that day when Argon Finally caught up to Geist.

"Geist,"he began,"I've got some wierd news."

"Yeah,"said Geist,"what is it?"

"You look like you've seen a ghost,"said Daishi, who was sitting next to Geist at the bar.

"I think I have,"said Viper,"here, put on this backpack, turn it on, and go outside."

"What the hell is it?"asked Geist.

"It's a phase shifter, it shifts you halfway out of phase with reality,"said Viper,"basically, you can be felt but not seen or heard."

"Wow,"said Daishi,"that explains what happened to Cos today."

"Yeah,"replied Argon,"that was my test."

"Well,"said Geist,"I'll try it, where am I supposed to go?"

"Just go to a street that sort of empty, it's easy to miss this stuff on a semi-full street,"said Viper.

Geist put on the backpack and flipped the switch, causing him to disappear.

They knew that he'd also had the gut-wrenching lurch because he immediately punched Viper in the shoulder.

Daishi and Viper waited for a few minutes, as Viper explained what had happened to Dai.

After about 20 minutes, Geist came back, looking shocked.

"Wow,"he said,"What are those things? And why did one of them have Jingo's sock?"

"I don't know,"said Viper,"I DO know that from the way they looked they were almost totally out of phase with our reality."

"What exactly does that mean?"asked Dai.

"It means that they can't be heard or seen, and only rarely can they be felt,"explained Viper,"which types did you see?"

"I saw some tall thin things, some reptile thing, some ant lookin things, and a wierd ant queen,"said Geist,"it looked like the ants were trying to protect that queen from the reptile things and they were looking at me to help them."

"Okay,"said Daishi,"I don't want to let the VE in on this until we figure out what's going on and how we can use it, so keep it to yourself for now."

"What about the rest of the FA?"asked Geist.

"You can tell Fish, and Master,"said Daishi,"for now, that's it."

"Got it,"replied Viper and Geist.

Tycho sat down at the most obscure console, looking around to make sure he wasn't being watched by people, droids, aliens, or cameras. He had taken a good hour to get the the computers, taking a winding route, going into random buildings, taking as many turns as possible, to lose anyone who might be tailing him. This was important.

The words "Grand Admiral Security Access denied".

Exasperated, Tycho slowly whispered into the microphone "Access override Delta Fox Gamma Zulu Bravo Eta Alpha 278235 Utah."

"Access Granted"

Tycho began typing slowly, then faster and faster and he became engrossed in the data scrolling across the screen.

Things were slowly but steadily coming to a head with the realtionship between the Fallen Angels and the Vast Empire.

For now Stormtrooper 1026 had earned enough of Kuroishi's respect that he would back off for now but he would still keep his eyes on him.

Right now there was some work to be done, esspecially with Argon's little escapades.

Kuroishi didn't like the idea of having to worry about things phased out of reality, after all there were more then enough things to worry about already.

Kuroishi looked over at the chapel that the Fallen Angels had just recently stole from the New Republic, it disturbed even Kuroishi that they were insane enough to even think of it let alone pull it off, though it served as a reminder to all that the Fallen Angels were a force to be reckoned with.

"Save your report Tycho I already know most of what it says." Kuroishi said as the doors to the lounge aboard the Sweetums opened and closed.

"You knew already that the mimetic armor came from Cenotaph, well considering the fact that you do have your own network of information I guess I can't be too suprised." Tycho replied.

"Now I also know what you're going to sugest next but take your report to Geist, he's in charge of the investigation anyway, not me." Kuroishi was starting to feel his age once again as he slowly worked on a shot of corelian whisky.

"As you command." Tycho replied with a hint of humor in his voice.

Kuroishi already knew far too much about what was going on, he just wished that Geist would catch his own errors in time.

Geist nodded as he studdied Tycho's report. "Made by the Cenotaph trading company," he said.

"But what does that tell us?" Jingo asked.

"A whole lot, like who's armor this is," Geist replied.

"Whos?"

"Mine," Geist said, then decided to elaborate. "Cenotaph was our principle supplier back when I was working with Nezumi, so they supplied us with the armor. The thing is that we lost one suit fighting another mercenary company several years back. The intel we had was all wrong and they caught us by suprise. I got caught on point duty and my armor got trashed. We left it behind when we evacuated."

"So we're dealing with the same guys?"

"Sounds like it," Geist said. "Either that or we are dealing with Cenotaph, who shouldn't exist anymore, or whatever is left of Amon's mercenaries, who also shouldn't exist anymore. Something in my gut tells me that its those other guys though. These ops are too unlike the MO of Cenotaph or the Space monkeys."

"What do you know about them?" Jingo asked.

"Almost nothing, all I know is they kicked our ***es real fast when they had the edge."

A tinny voice came from an area on the floor, "Now that we know some more of whats going on, I have a question for you: what is the connection between the creatures half phased out and this armor?"

The officers in the room jumped up at least a handspan.

"To hell with you, Tycho. If you want to talk to us, there's no need to prove you can bug us without us being aware of it," one person said.

"What makes you think I was bugging you?," Tycho said as he emerged from his hiding place--he had lain on the floor and pulled one of his intel toys over him, it was a smart-skin camouflage blanket, and it would mask all signs of life, even through the Force. It even included a voice scrambler and dissipater.

"You were there whole time?"

"Yes. To help me figure out the connection between these invisible creatures and the armor, I need to know one thing: does the armor interact with the DNA at all? Secondly, mimetric armor works by putting the wearer halfway out of reality, much like these creatures. Without any other research or intelligence resources, I'd say if someone wears the armor too long, they will permanently be stuck in the "half-in, half-out" reality."

"Just a few thoughts, gentlemen, good day," Tycho gave a crisp salute and executed a sharp about-face and marched out.

Somewhere in a dark city, a man sat in his office and tried to make sense of the disaster that had manifested itself. The man known only as control was quite fearful of his life right now.

His backers were dead, all of them. The man that had been the bankroll had been found by the imperials with his skull crushed by a blunt object. He had found the others, each killed quite efficiently. The weapons and supplies that their mercenary employees had liberated from the Imperials had also vanished.

He didn't know how, but his organization had been compromised completely. He was now alone, and very afraid.

"Hello Control," A distinct, catlike voice said. "Are you busy?"

-----

"The armor is custom fitted to the user, and it does utilize a dna scanner to prevent someone from just stealing it," Geist was saying. "It shouldn't interact with the user any more than that..."

A trooper came into the Barracks. "Sergeant Major Geist? Your presence is requested at a crime scene, sir."

"Very well, soldier, I assume you can take me there?" Geist asked.

"Yes sir."

"Then lets get going," He stopped and jerked a thumb in the direction of a cage in the corner of the room, "and the next time you call me sir I am going to feed you to him. Understood?"

The trooper paled a bit, catching a glimpse of a wookiee in the cage putting on a chef's hat and licking his lips in anticipation. "Yes, err... sergeant major."

"You never told me what keeps him in the cage," Jingo pointed out as they left the barracks.

"Mutual agreement," Geist replied. "We feed him, he stays in the cage."

The trooper paled some more, and said nothing for the rest of the trip.

-----

They arrived at the crime scene in short order.

"So what does the army have to do with this?" the investigator already on scene asked.

"You find one of these?" Geist asked, holding up a fragment of mimetic armor.

"Well, yeah, you know something?"

"Single blow to the head," Jingo said. "Looks a whole lot like the wound the shopowner had."

"And who is this clown?" Geist asked.

"Well, he's..." the investigator began.

"His name is Gromwel," Jingo interupted. "He's on intel's list as a suspected terrorist. They haven't picked him up because they are hoping that he could lead to other terrorists."

"Not anymore," Geist said.

"Who the hell are you guys?" the investigator demanded. "Are you intelligence?"

Geist shook his head. "Nope, we're just some army pukes who have eperience with this sort of thing. But, it looks like you are doing a good job here, so I don't think we need to take over your investigation. Enjoy yourself." He turned to leave.

Once outside of the office, he turned to Jingo. "I don't think we are going to find all that much on planet anymore. You stay here and look around in case I'm wrong. If you find anything report it to Daishi, nobody else. We need to keep this quiet so that the bad guys don't get wind of it. Me and Kuroshi will head out and see what we can find offplanet."

"What about stormie?" Jingo asked.

Geist shook his head. "He's too new. Its better if we keep this among the guys we know we can trust." He grinned, "he did, after all, give me full discretion."

Jingo nodded.

As they had been doing this, Argon Viper had been standing behind them, wearing his new backpack.

He pondered over how he could help, when a single insect being came around the corner.

His first instinct was to turn off the pack and return to reality, but something in the way it acted seemed odd.

It was moving slowly, cautiously, and when it came within 3 meters, it bowed down on it's knees and crawled toward him.

When it came within one meter, it lifted it's head and chittered something, pointing back to where it had come.

He nodded, and it took off with him following it.

They ran into the tall creatures every here and there, but the insect paid them no mind.

The reptilian beings, however, were another matter.

They only came upon them once, but the insect diverted their course so that no contact would be made.

After a three miles, they come to a cave, where the insect bows down and points within.

After a quick debate, Argon decides to risk going inside.

He travels down the tunnel, which does not appear in normal reality, and, after a half hour of travel, reaches a large open chamber.

In the center of the chamber, surrounded by attendants, lies the queen.

He wonders what he is supposed to do, when something incredible happens...

...it talks.

{{We have been awaiting you Argon Viper}}it says with telepathy{{the prophecy has begun...}}

"What prophecy?,"asked Argon Viper,"how do you know who I am?"

{{We know much about you}}replied the queen{{it is prophesied that one day, a creature will come, and save our species from the reptons(gimme a break, I'm not feeling that creative, okay).}}

"Reptons?"asked Viper,"you mean those half lizard half snake things?"

{{If that suits you, yes}}said the queen{{You see, they are destroying us, what you see here is a full ten percent of all we have left, we exist only on this planet}}

The suddeness of this shocked Argon, sending his mind into rapid thought.

He thought of almost every idea possible(and some not possible) before he hit on one he liked.

"I will save your race",he said,"by bringing them to my reality."

{{I cannot go}}replied the queen{{No queen can survive outside this... reality. Our servants may come with you, but to save our species, you must save us here}}

"Then I will return to my reality with some of your servants, and bring help when I return."

{{We thank you in advance for your efforts}}said the queen.

Argon bowed as he walked out, hoping that a few of the insect things would be enough to get the VE to agree to send help.

Holding the insect's hand, he reverted back to reality, bringing it with him.

It buzz-clicked at him, and suddenly, he understood what it said.

{{Where must we go}}it asked{{to save our queen?}}

It took Argon a second to realise it talked of itself in plural, being of a hive mind.

"We're going to see the one most likely to give us help,"replied Viper.

Five minutes later, they walked into Kuroishi's office.

"Dai,"said Viper,"The alternate reality situation has become a whole lot more complicated."

"Really,"replied Dai, breaking off his conversation with Geist over the investigation," how did it do that, and why do I get the feeling it has something to do with that insect that's followed you in?

Kuroishi immediatly reached down for the bottom drawer on the left side of his desk. He figured what the hell if the universe was going to go to hell in a hand basket he might as well get drunk enough to enjoy it.

"All right let me get this straight, the entire universe has gone insane and now part of it is asking for our help to get back to a semi-sane level?" Kuroishi said as he started pooring some Varneck Citrus in a large glass.

"I guess you could put it that way." Argon replied.

Kuroishi was totally bewildered by what had been laid in front of him over these past few days and by this point he had already surpassed the wierdness of the bird and a slight incident with misshandled explosives, though this time he was sober.
