As his eyes opened slowly, Sergeant Major Double Agent could hear voices speaking excitedly.

"He's awake!" said a female voice, "come quick!"

As Agent's eyes opened wider, he gradually made out the image of three women, all wearing nothing but underwear.

I must have gotten hit on the head harder than I thought...I'm still asleep... he thought, as his eyes closed once again.

============================================
At the same time:
============================================

A man was looking at a readout in a smoky room filled with electronic equipment.
"Where on earth could Agent be? He was supposed to be back by now, and we can't contact him...try it one more time."

============================================

*BEEP BEEP*

A pile of clothes neatly folded by the bed rang out loudly, calling Agent's attention to it.

"It rang before, but we couldn't figure it out," Said one of the girls, "We decided to wait for you to wake up."

Agent slowly got out of the small bed. He noticed he was naked. Oh, well he thought nothing I can do about it now... He pushed a button and the beeping stopped. Looking down at the thing, he knew he would never be so unlucky in all of his life.

"Damn!" he said, "three of them...and the VE needs me..." He put on his clothes.

"Nope. You're not leaving here!" said all three, almost in unison.

"Sorry...REALLY sorry" said Agent. "I'll come back as soon as I can!" Without waiting for a reply, Agent left to find a way back.

Daishi had now come to terms with something he was fairly unaccustomed to, nervousness. With an entire battalion bearing down on thier position and a mostly intact company already in the area about to pounce on them, the Fallen Angels would have to move fast if they wanted to get out of this one alive.

After detailing what he and the others had recovered Daishi looked around. He wished he knew where that battalion was going to come from, and wished even more so if he knew that this company was a part of the incoming battalion.

"Allright people, we got trouble sooner then I expected. Our new objective is to gather up every weapon from the dead and the dying and secure that building over there." Daishi said as he pointed to a small unimpossing building.

The building looked like a small office complex but it did offer excelent feilds of fire and nothing short of bringing the building down on top of the Fallen Angels was going to remove them.

"Geist, how good is your scope on your rifle?" Daishi asked as he looked out to survey the lines of sight.

"Good out to about a 1,500 meters, why?" Geist asked back.

"I got an idea." Daishi replied.

Medic Tent - One Two Weeks Later

SGT Cosmic was not in a medic bed anymore..He was walking around outside with a white robe on with a cup of coffee in one hand. "God this stinks...THe troops are in trouble and I'm stuck in this stinkin' medic tent!" Yelled Cosmic.

A doctor slowly walked to Cosmic. "You ok Sergeant?" He asked slowly..Cosmic nodded his head.."Just letting out some fumes, Doc..Just letting out some fumes."
The doctor nodded.

"I understand that you want to go into the battlefield, Sir. Once in a while I want to do that myself, but I know that if I do, I will probably be like you...Broken bones, bleeding badly...near the gates of death. I don't want that..I'm safer as a doctor so I'll be that way...but...you're different..I want to do it because it's exciting..you want to do it because it's life to you."

Cosmic just stared out into the horizon. "Dying is just a part of living, Doc. I know it's wrong to kill...but..Eh...I dont know..I just have ...Well..It's my life..I've been in the Army for a while now...More than a year..the simulaters are my family...the dead dummies on the floor on my friends..I don't know what to tell you doc...I'm just like that.."

"And there's nothing wrong with that, Sergeant...It's just that there are different feellings that people have and will have when they get into the Army..Life changes for them...Well, I have to get back to work...You should be out of here in about an hour..I will go overlook some papers for you to get out.."

Cosmic smiled. "Thanks doc..thanks for taking care of me and..heh..saving my life.."
The doc smiled..."Those are the people who you should be thanking Cos...I just work here..saving lives is my job..Those young men over there saved your life out of compassion and love...You may not know it, Sarge...but a lot of people around here love ya." The doctor smiled once again and left inside the tent.

Cosmic looked over to the young men near the Command Tent...the men he completed his infiltration mission with...Cosmic walked over and smiled..

"You're ok, eh Sarge?" Asked Seth...Cosmic chuckled.."I'm fine, Corporal..just fine...I want to thank all of you for saving my life...You all have done something very special to me..I'm sorry I haven't been able to thank you sooner, but maybe this time is best than the others...Thank you..." Cosmic put his coffee down on a stool and hugged each and every one of those young soldiers.

Cosmic smiled as a tear ran down his cheek..."I'm glad that you guys are in the Army...You're my family now...All I gatta do is sign that release form from the doctor and then I can talk to Fury....I want to get back into battle..I will serve the EIH once again..."

Kuroishi watched as troops started trickleing into the area, he guessed this must be the battalion of reinforcements. So far they seemed to be staggering in one wave at a time. After what nine men did to about a hundred men he couldn't blame them for being cautious.

Kuroishi watched as nearly a whole company rushed into the fortification that the Fallen Angels had previously held. With that Daishi pressed the detonation button on his controler and grinned as the building came down on top of them. It took a lot of thier explosives to do this but now half of the reinforcements would be out of the fighting for a while.

Kuroishi doubted that all that many of the enemy were actually dead but it was still enough to keep them out of action for a while.

"Allright, Geist, Narm, and Argon. You three are with me. Everyone else I want to make the enemy think there is an entire plattoon in here. Master, you'll need this." Kuroishi said as he tossed his double barreled blaster rifle to Master.

Kuroishi pointed to several nearby roof tops and cover positions.

"Geist I want you over there with your rifle. Narm take my scoped Lee Enfield #4 and set up over there. Argon I want you over by that water tower but not on it. I'll be in this area. Everyone know what to do?" Kuroishi said as the three nodded.

Kuroishi pulled his Timbique Edition Zues off his back and giggled as he set up his firing position.

"Good, everyone fire on my mark." Kuroishi said as he looked through his scope to see that the first comapny they engaged was obviously a part of the reinforcing battalion.

"I want our bunker evaced about thirty seconds after the first volley, or after the first artillary round drops, whichever comes first. Mark." Kuroishi said as he started picking off officers.

Raziel finished cleaning out his rifle, again. Wasn't much to do apart from train and begin to fit in. he could train, eat, sleep and of course, clean his blaster.
He let the rifle hang on its shoulder strap and made his way over to the shooting range. he walked past a few groups of soldiers hanging about in groups or making there ways over to the drinking areas, he just kept himself to himself until he got to know some more people.
He observed the people at the firing range as he walked up to take his position, veterans. they all aimed, fired and worked with the skill of one who has spent many years or maybe most of his life doing this. many of them had custom made or personally adjusted weapons. he looked down at his own standard issue rifle. not bad admittedly, it would function efficiently, then again that also included cost efficient as governments liked it.
He brought his rifle up to his shoulder and locked it against himself with the strap to steady his aim. looking down the sights he let off a few shots at the wooden targets situated 30 metres away. he wasn't bad, he had been one of the better trainees at target practise. but he had to wonder just how well he'd be able to do it in a real combat situation. he knew that would be tested soon as well, people were fairly relaxed but he could feel the tension beginning to rise.

He spotted a face he though he had seen before off to one side. looking closer he saw someone leaving the medical tent in a white robe. ah yes that was it, must be that sergeant who had brought him into the Vast empire. couldn't seem to recall his name right now though.

After a few more minutes of loosing off shots from his very standard rifle he proceeded back to his sleep area. Maybe some rest would calm his nerves for now.

Geist slipped into his position and raised his sniper rifle. In a voice so soft that only the microphone built into his armor could hear it, he began setting up priorities for his rifle's onboard computer. He quickly had five seperate targets stored in the scope's system, ready to switch and produce a new firing solution as each one died. That done, he waited.

The order came and he began his good work. Firing, switching to a new target, firing, switching again, and so on. Within four seconds all the targets he had pre-designated were dead.

"Boss, this is Lightbringer. I'm moving." Snipers never stayed in place for too long, otherwise they drew fire. And Geist didn't feel like drawing fire. He slung his rifle over his shoulder and drew his vibrosword. Not wanting to waste time running down stairs, he instead simply ran off the roof, using the jets built into his combat armor to cushion his landing. He then started looking for a new firing position.

Main Hall
=========

Seth figited in his pirate uniform again. He was still unused to it, even though he had already worn it once before with his mission with Cosmic. He grinned. It would really still take some time getting used to.

He leaned against a pillar and observed the activity around him. The Main Hall is like a junction leading to all places, so you have to travel to the Main Hall before going to anywhere else.

He wondered where his team members could be. They are on a start of a mission, and Seth wanted to give it a good shot.

Soon Demi Wraith arrived, tweaking his sleeves.

'Lo, Demi Wraith!'

'Greetings, Seth! The rest arent here yet?'

Seth heard and glanced towards the direction of stomping feet.

'I guess they should be hear in a minute.'

When all have arrived, Seth tapped for attention and said, 'Okay guys, our transport will be meeting us at West Entrance in 3 minutes time. Did you get all the required items?'

'Yes, Seth!'

'Good,' It was then when Seth noticed that Xal was standing slightly behind Maul. He grinned and took a step forward. 'Feeling good enough for this trip already, Xal?'

'Yeah. Doc said I was well enough.'

'I assumed you were briefed.'

'Maul has told me everything I should know.'

'Good. Okay guys,' Seth raised his voice.' To the West Entrance!.'

======================
VE Base: West Entrance
======================

The VETS made it there to see a transport, engines humming loudly, waiting for them. Seth and the rest boarded the transport quickly, and the transport made off to the designated location.

'Hi Rick. You know where we are going right?'

'Yeap, sir. Got the orders this morning.'

'Thanks a lot. I'll radio you when we are going to come back.'

'Sure.'

======================
Near pirate frontlines
======================

The VETS were dropped off near a thich clumo of bush near to the frontlines. From there, they started to make their way unnoticed to the frontline.

(Note: DW, can you help me start more on this mission? My team's season has just started and I might have a little hard time trying to come on. Thanx.)

We took out our binoculars and saw the size of the entire army. There were tens of thousands of troops and hundreds of tanks.

All of us were awed by the tremendous size of the army.

"Damn.... thats a big army they have."

"You're right Demi...alright men we gotta move on and gather more information before we head back and report the situation to Fury.", said Seth.

Everybody nodded their head and followed Seth as he infiltrated the front line.

CRP Argon Viper opened fire as soon as he saw Geists fire rip into the enemy formation. Where Geist's shots were surgical and precise, his E-web mowed down enemy troops in pairs and triplets. He saw Daishi and Narm's shots join his own, and the company began to rout.

(Hey DW thanks for starting. )

==============
Near frontline
==============

'Okay guys, we are here to ferret more information for VE, not to admire enemy troopers. Proceed Step 1 of mission.' Seth told his teammates.

Step 1: To close in with the pirates and blend with them, coming close to possible sentries to question.

Seth, Demi Wraith and his teammates put on their pirate clothing and put on their specially-designed earphones into their ear. Being made of clear plastic, it is virtually impossible to detect with the naked eye. This device allows the team to split up and yet able to communicate with each other.

Seth paired everyone in the team up, and told them to be careful ; they were entering the lines now.

'Speak only through your microphones, and please do it discretly.'

Everyone nodded and started off in different directions. Seth and Demi Wraith switched on their speakers and heard all their teammates testing out and communicating.

'Maul here. Testing.'

'Hello Maul. Hear you loud and clear.' Seth replied.

'Xal here. This device's darn good.'

'Hehehe .... it sure is.' Seth couldnt mistake the noticable hoarsness in Viper's voice.

'Okay, go ahead with your jobs now. No more chatting.' Seth barked silently.

'Yeap.'

Seth changed to connection with Demi Wraith only and said, ' Hey DW, see anyone good, tell me okay?'

'Sure Seth.' came DW's static reply.

Seth grinned as he stepped into the crowd of troopers. Everthing's going perfectly well so far.

They were perfectly blended and camouflaged by the troopers.

Though warm rations and a soft cot were highly conducive to his personal comfort level, a ton of paperwork and the need to finish this mission had motivated Fury into getting back into the field. While the navy was still in the process of mopping up any resistance in space, the army had yet to make this planet safely inhabitable for the millions of colonists and refugees wanting to start a new home. Thousands of craft lay in wait somewhere above his head in a nearby system hoping for a quick resolution to this conflict.

Today would begin another chance to achieve that goal. Leapfrogging over regular army units and forward observers, the Stormtrooper Corps had managed to locate themselves in a forward position only a klick and a half from the enemy's forward positions. Already, digging equipment were at work, forming bunkers, fortified positions and advance tunnels. Going overland would be suicide with the time and intensity of effort that the enemy had. Emerging in the midst of their defenses was far more preferable for this mission.

Fury was going over some minor - but critical - details. Thus far, no heavy support equipment had been brought forward. Any major offensive weapon was in the hands of stormtroopers...some of them literally off the dropship from training. Fury had taken special care to ensure that none of these individuals were so nervous as to break in the face of enemy fire. With a couple of newly appointed squad leaders in place, he made double sure that everyone felt ready.

Part of his concern was that one of his squad leaders was still in the field as part of the advance intel team. When he got back, PFC Demi Wraith would be squad leader for the Panthers...with a couple of new troopers to lead and a brevet promotion to sergeant until he could get his paperwork completed. Without even a temporary promo, Supply wouldn't even acknowledge his existence...and that was one thing Fury didn't want to worry about.

Coming back from the Panther's position, Fury had to concern himself with his "own" squad. PFC Raziel was already foregoing the spit and polish routine beat into him from training and was in the process of stripping his blaster to allow for higher tibanna gas use. The process burned out a power charge at almost 60% of it's rated use...but it allowed for a heavier bolt. Basically it was an essential modification when it came to fighter armored foes. Fury nodded at the trooper and made a mental note to talk to SGT Snake about whether he had taught Raziel about failsafes when he taught him the modification.

As for PFC Montys, he appeared to have the same apprehensive stance that most new troopers got when facing battle for the first time. No matter how many colleagues were lost during live-fire training, you still went into your first campaign feeling pretty damned invulnerable...right up until you realized that armor wouldn't hold off everything the enemy could throw at you. He'd probably be alright if he could survive the first day.

Fury felt his datapad vibrate in the web puch he carried it in. Checking it, he found a burst transmission from CPL Ixesis. Pretty much what he expected but still bad. The enemy had a lot vested in winning this battle. Either they were too stupid to surrender or the navy had finally found a way to stop ships from entering and exiting the system anytime they felt like it. It didn't matter to Fury other than the enemy felt trapped and would likely fight to the death.

So be it. Fury sent runners to his SLs. With this information a battle plan could be solidified. And this offensive could finally get moving again.

Hey scouts...wrap up whatever you've got going over the next few days. The main force will be moving forward to meet up with you. I'll be gone until the 25th, so Demi Wraith, it falls on you to start the offensive as you'll be the last SL in place as it stands.

SGM Timber Saden and Iron Horse will be going straight for an enemy command post. Squad 4 will cover them. The Raiders and Panthers will work together to fight off the main force of pirates in a close-in urban environment. You will all be fighting house to house. Only Iron Horse will see heavy equipment like tanks and older walkers when they approach the command post.

...For now....

Shoot straight troopers.

Pirate Stronghold

Floodlights lit up the encampment in the city during the night hours, giving the medical staff light enough to continue their work during the graveyard shift. In the shadows on the edge of the civilian buildings, Stonefish lurked. He knew that the COs were barracked in a luxury apartment block on the SouthWest corner of the plaza, and that was where he was making his way to now.

A patrol walked past him, chatting about the front lines. The talk he had heard over the pokiir game appeared to be just green troopers' scare talk. There were as many green troopers amongst the pirate forces as veterans, since the promise of rape and pillage always drew in crowds of volunteers for the cause. The lines were drawn, and the troops were massing. A storm was coming, and Stonefish wanted to find out exactly what the pirates were planning.

As he approached the apartment block, he noted two guards on the door, and prepared his story.

"Hold," one of the door guards ordered him as he approached, "State your business."

"Reports from the front, for the Colonel," replied Stonefish, affecting a tired look, and waving a sheaf of papers recently acquired from the charts at the foot of a patient's bed.

"Why haven't they just been data-burst in?"

"Communications problems, apparently the Empire's got a new bunch in who have been wreaking havoc behind our lines by destroying our communications."

"Okay, go on through, Colonel's in the war room."

"Where is that? I haven't been here before."

"Third floor, room 316."

"Thanks."

Stonefish made his way inside, wondering about the lack of suspicion, considering what he'd just told them. He took the stairs up to the third floor rather than the lift, since it gave him time to work out exactly how he was going to lift the papers from the war room. An idea came to him.

He walked into the war room, approached the Colonel, and saluted.

"Yes, Sergeant?"

"Sir, I have reports from the front."

"Well, let's see them then," the Colonel said impatiently.

Stonefish pulled the duffel from his shoulder and rummaged in it, glad that the hospital was on the other side of the building. He noted the numbers of men in the room. The colonel, two majors, both unarmed, and a couple of Captains with sidearms. He felt the radio detonator in his bag and pushed the button.

The building shook violently as the thermal charges vaporised most of the plaza and the field hospitals and tent barracks it contained. Stonefish was ready for the shaking and only stumbled slightly. He dropped his duffel leaving the hand now holding the lightsaber free. The Force slammed the door, which was effectively unmanned anyway, since everyone was either on the floor, or running to see if there was anything they could do for the injured from the explosion.

The two armed men went down first, followed quickly by the others.

Stonefish grabbed everything he could fit into his duffel: papers, datapads, maps, anything. Then he ran and jumped out of the window. Three floors, twelve meters. The Force cushioned some of the impact, but Stonefish still had to roll most of the fall off, and came up bruised and battered.

He looked to either side, but thankfully everyone was looking at the remains of the plaza, or the bodies. Stonefish ran over to a trooper.

"What happen?" he asked, breathlessly, as if he had run a few blocks to see.

"Someone set up us the bomb!" he replied, looking dazed. That might explain his bad grammar.

"What?!"

"The whole plaza, look for yourself. How, I don't know. Hopefully the Colonel will be able to find out."

"I hope so," Stonefish moved off, leaving the man staring at the remains.

Seth ransacked a sentry's pockets, while the rest looked out for approaching enemies. Beside him, Demi Wraith searched through another sentry's pockets.

Seth felt into the sentry's trousers pockets, and felt something crisp. He pulled out a piece of paper and spread it out, motioning Demi Wraith to join him. He drew in a breath when he saw what he got. Detailed maps of Army depots! Barracks, Infantry, weapon storage, officer's lounge, meeting rooms ... Seth scanned his eyes through all these and more. Demi Wraith patted Seth's shoulder, and said

'Hey, I think we've got all the stuff we need. We've also gotten most of the information we are looking for.

To be continued ...

In his new firing position, Geist saw the panic building in the lead company. With the death of most of their officers they had been thrown into disorder. Time to make things worse.

"Boss. This is Lightbringer. Requesting permission to activate force HUNGRY."

"Permission granted." Kuroshi responded. "They have us right where we want them."

"HUNGRY prime. This is lightbringer." Geist called into his comm system. "Start feeding."

An unearthly voice responded. "Understood, bringer of fire, inquisitor of the fallen. We serve Black Death."

-----

A picket at the enemy's rear formations felt horror at what he saw rising from the dirt before him.

His last act before the inhuman creatures tore into his flesh was to scream a warning into his comm system.

"Aliens! Comming from behind us! Hundreds of them!..."

-----

Geist smiled as the panic began. There actually weren't any more than six of the aliens, but a green soldier, facing something not only new but utterly horrific, plus a little mental misdirection courtesy of a half trained gaussian mindwalker, went a long way towards starting a panic. Now to see if they couldn't finish this.

"Boss." He said into his voice activated comm. "I have the enemy CO zeroed. We need to kill everyone around him. Everyone he seems to be rellying on for advice and support."

"Why not just kill him?" Narm asked over the comnet.

"I have an idea." Geist responded. All warfare was at least fifty percent pscycology. "Knock out his support and he will feel helpless and alone. We might just get him to surrender to us."

Enemy Encampment

(Continued..)

Just then, the sentry the Seth was searching showed some signs of recovery from his sudden blackout from the world. Sensing it, Seth took some cloth and wrapped firmly around the sentry's mouth. He had this gut feeling that the sentry might scream when his groggy brain of the momment clears.

And screamed he did. The sentry started wriggling furiously, trying to get away from his capturers. Seth took a firm hold on him, and signaled his teammates to drag all prisoners they have gotten away from the frontlines. As they left the frontline, the sentry's kicking slowly ceased.

Maybe he thought that Base was too far away.

Too far away ...

VETS dragged their new-found prisoners to an area that Seth found days before. It was a quiet place, and well-hidden from any nosey-parkers outside. It was here Seth planned their interrogation.

Seth roughly pushed the sentry up to a tree. He knew that in such cases, he need to be firm, and have an air being in command.

'Okay, listen good here, you pirate. When's the major attacking infantry attacking.'

The sentry kept silent. Seth wordlessly acknowledge that he wasnt going to make this easy for him.

'This guy's have guts. Not bad ... ' Seth silent thought.

Seth gave the sentry a kick on the side, making the sentry doubled up in pain.

'Hey, I'm not finished. If you still refused to divulge, I still have another place to kick.' Seth growled, motioning near the sentry's belt.

The sentry paled ; Seth knew that he would divulge soon.

'So? '

'Main army's attacking in around 3 days' time.'

'Good. I think tis time for your beloved comrade, dunt you think?'

Seth heard his teammates laughed ; they were enjoying this.

The cycle repeated again and again, but this time, most of them cowered into fear. By the time Seth was finished with them, he had found out:

1) The Main Infantry is attacking in 3 days time.

2) Second Commander Lian leads the attack. The main focus of the battle would be near VE's new-found Base.

3) All efforts would be put into this. In such, defences at other place would be lowered. Pirate Officers had calculated that VE would concentrate their armpower at the battlefield.

4) The attack would be in early morning, say 7.30am.

5) This is the pirates' last ditched attempt.

Other than this, Seth had also discovered the military maps. Combined with this, they had all the information they wanted. Their mission is complete.

Seth made plans to leave for Home Base at once.

Seth pulled out his receiver and radioed Home Base.

'Home Base, Seth here.'

'Seth, heard clearly,' replied a static voice. 'State your requirements.'

'Need transport for 20 people as soon as possible. Prisoners at hand.' Seth replied.

'Okay Cop. Transport A561 arriving at your destination in 7 minutes.'

'Dunke.'

Seth flipped his comlink closed.

===============
7 minutes later
===============

The transport arrived, and VETS with their prisoners were escorted back to Base safely. Mission complete. Now what Seth had to do was to report to Fury.

Stonefish first knew he was nearing the frontlines when artillery shells started dropping about half a klick away to his left, tearing up great gouts of earth.

He decided that now was the time to change out of the enemy uniform he had stolen, in order to reduce the chances of being shot by his own side. A little.

Kicking the swoop he had acquired from the motor pool back into gear, he sped away from a small copse of trees, where one day someone might find a slightly bloody, very dusty Pirate Sergeant's uniform.

Ahead on a small rise, he saw something he thought that maybe he'd never see again. Nezumi's pets pounding pirate soldiers into bloody pulp. He pulled his comlink and flicked it to the old Intruder Wing channel.

"Daishi, this is Fish. Do you read?"

"Fish! Nice to hear you again. Thought maybe you joined the other side or something."

"Nah, though I do have a nice bag of goodies here."

"Where are you?"

"Speeder bike, about two hundred meters from your little party for the pirates. On the enemy side. Mind getting them to let me through here? Oh, and where are you?"

On board the shuttle
===========================

While heading back to base I was keeping watch of the prisoners. I can tell by the expressions on their face that they were very afraid of us. One of the prisoners looked like he was going to piss in his pants. I held in a chuckle and thought to myself.

"So these are the pirates we're going up against? What a bunch of spineless, half witted soldiers."

Before I know, we are about to land back at base. After the shuttle landed Seth and I quickly stepped out the shuttle and we walked toward Fury's tent with the information we had gathered from Recon and the prisoners.

With the Fallen Angels raising havoc in their zone, enemy recon had branched out further than usual and had unfortunately painted the WildCards forward location.

Reinforcements, artillery, and support had come blazing in within moments of detection, and Fury was now in the process of ensuring that everyone had access to as many heavy weapons as possible. The timetable was moved up and the swiftness of their attack might just make up for the lost element of surprise.

Unfortunately for the "VETS" scout team, there was no time to waste. After a quick squad leader meeting, Fury taook Demi Wraith aside and laid down a few of the finer points of leadership...not that the trooper hadn't shown a lot of promise recently. Losing Japer to the REMF crowd chafed at Fury a bit; then again, he was likely to be joining him there - which didn't make him feel any better either.

Sending off the trooper to his squad, Fury looked around at the assembled teams...soldiers mostly new to him. Then again there was Agent playing sabaac with his squad for the right to carry the T-21 repeating blaster. Some things never changed in that regard.

His platoon leader duties performed, he grabbed one last warm tin of food and made sure he was as laden down with as many power packs as he could, then headed into the tunnel designated for Squad 3. Walking the klick and a half to the squad's entry point, he was careful not to break the cable strung by the army engineers earlier. Once he was ready to begin the advance, SGT Demi Wraith would send a signal that would travel to the individual squads through cables such as this one. With no way for the pirate forces to intercept an attack order, the Stormtrooper Corps would have at least this bit of suprise on their side.

Demi Wraith, it's your call. With his signal, all squads attack.

Sergeant Cosmic was in the medic tent for one last checkup before he left. The doctor smiled and nodded at his clipboard. "Excellent, Sergeant. You have made wonderful progress with your healings. You are free to go..Please sign this." Said the doctor, he handed Cosmic a little form and a SIGNATURE on the bottom...Cosmic took a quick glance and then signed his initials.

"Thanks, Doc...Thanks for all your help." The doctor smiled. "It's my job, Sarge...No need to thank me.." Cosmic smiled once more and headed to the armory. He smiled as he felt the heat of the sun on his face. The hot sun didn't burn him, instead it made an inspiration. Out In The Open!

Cosmic walked to the Armory tent and saw a man behind a desk. Sergeant Cosmic walked up to the man and brought out his ID card. The man looked up at Cosmic then at the card, then at Cosmic again. "Want your uniform, Sarge?" He asked, smiling. "Yes. I've been out for awhile so it should be clean and shiney."

The man smiled at this. "Well, it sure is! Blood Red and sparkling clean! I had the privaledge to order all of your weapons cleaned and throughrowly checked before they gave them to you..." Cosmic smiled. "Thanks. It'll sure feel good to have these back on." Said Cosmic, as he held up his uniform with both hands. "The dressing room is that way," said the man, pointing. Cosmic nodded and headed towards it..

Ten minutes later, Cosmic walked out with his blood red uniform on and guns in their holsters and the vibroblade in its sheath. Cosmic held his helmet with one arm while he wiggled his fingers in the stormtrooper glove with the other hand. He nodded to the man and walked out of the tent. Cosmic smiled to himself as he saw the sun reflecting off his armor and to the ground...the dirt was bright red.

Cosmic walked to the Command Tent where Platoon Commander Fury was issueing orders to some Squad Leaders.
Cosmic saluted.
Fury saw Cosmic and smiled..He saluted back.
"Well, good to see you up and around Sergeant. I knew you'd get healthy so quickly..." Fury smiled. Cosmic chuckled..."Thanks...Hey, I wanna get updated on whats been happening. . . I'm itching to go into battle....Is there a squad I can lead or join?"

Cosmic watched Fury checked the clipboard....he waited for an answer...

Argon Viper hears Stonefish's call. "I'm on it"he replies. He takes a bead on the general area throught which Stonefish will have to go, and opens fire with his favorite weapon.

Clumps of dirt, trees, troops, everything in the way is destroyed by a raining barrage of hot light. The enemy begins to scatter, and Stonefish moves forward. Argon Viper keeps the way clear by concentrating his fire directly in front of the fish.

"All right fish, you're clear"says Daishi as Stonefish reaches the other side,"now what are these goodies you've got?"

"Oh," replies Stonefish, "Nothing really."

Stonefish dumps out the contents of his duffel on the floor.

"Just a few little maps and battle plans and things. I heard a bit aswell. It may well be that the pirates are not as finished as they seem to be..."

Kuroishi watched Stonefish procede through the enemy.

Argon's solution was risky and Kuroishi hated that it was the best answer.

"I'll take a look at them later, right now I have work to do. If you got a rifle with range perhaps you can get out here and help us pick off some targets." Kuroishi said as he finished crawling into his new position.

Kuroishi watched as Master, Jingo, Tycho, and Stonefish evacuated the temporary bunker right in time as artillary shells rained down, leaving the building in rubble before falling silent again. The odds of another strike were falling as officer after officer dropped. Kuroishi hoped that the CO wasn't really a brilliant tactician and sacraficing his subordinates to throw off the Fallen Angels.

Fortunately it wasn't going to matter much as the battalion started breaking and running off. The cassualty rate was probably around 50% but a lot of those were only wounded and Kuroishi supected they'ed see them again later.

"All right everyone but me, Fish, and Geist start gathering up standard stuff. Narm, keep the internal organs to a minimum if you can?" Kuroishi said as he started reviewing some of the reports Stonefish retrieved and handed the maps to Geist.

*After a few minutes of contemplation and passing of papers*

"Frak I've seen this before. Compared with what few intel reports I have gotten things will be getting nastier as we try and take the last two primary objectives. First off it appears that what information the VE has been getting has been half truths, given out freely with minimal interogation procedures. The good news in this mess is that the pirates don't have nearly as many reserves to properly pull thier plan off. It appears they are trying the Tukayyid defense. Basiclly that means they threw thier worst units into the fray first, saving thier better units for later. From the intel reports and what these plans say they threw thier good units in too soon. This is going to be tough but at least we still have one heck of a fighting chance. I'm open to suggestions for our next move now that we managed to break that battalion and chase it off." Kuroishi said after several minutes of diliberation.

Geist looked off in the direction of the retreating battalion. "Nightmares." He said.

"What?" Kuroshi/Daishi asked.

"We shouldn't necessarily let that battalion run unopposed." Geist replied. "I vote we pursue them. Hit them when they least expect it, kill a handful with each ambush, then vanish into the countryside."

"What good would that do?" Argon asked.

"Psycology. They were beaten here, but they could rationalize it because it was a city battle, which is always a dirty thing, and because they could always claim there were more than a handful of soldiers here. Besides, they got away, they may think they are safe now." He paused to take a sip from his canteen. "If one or more of us is following them, hitting them with inpunity, that sends an unmistakable message that they aren't safe anywhere they go. They loose all hope of keeping that predator mentality that is necessary for a successful unit. If the right guys get back to the enemy HQ alive, their defeatism will spread."

"Interesting idea." Kuroshi said. "I don't know if we can concentrate all of us on this one unit though."

"I can go by myself." Geist responded. "I sure as hell hate to leave a fight unfinished. Up to you boss."

*Note from on high... ok, maybe just the High Command *

I know it's an on-going joke to have the smallest post but even one paragraph is a bit too little. Let's try to make it at least two to three paragraphs (if not more). It's hard to read a story when it's that choppy. That is all... for now. More "do"s and "don't"s to come soon.

As the newly appointed squad leader of the Panthers, I walked to the designated area for squad 2. I could see that all my troops were well equiped and ready for battle.

I checked and rechecked all the equipment and supplies to make sure nothing was faulty.

After checking the equipment I briefly gave them a pep talk.

"Alright troops, listen up. This battle that we are going into will decide the future of the Vast Empire. There are two ways this battle can go, either we completely annihilate the pirates and win this planet or we lose and the Vast Empire gets a crushing blow to the army. So I want all of you to kill as many of them damn pirate bastards as you can! ARE YOU READY!?!?!"

"YEAH!", the screaming of the troops were so loud that I almost went deaf at that instant.

After hearing that I sent the signal to the other squads to start there attack.

"ALRIGHT TROOPS, LETS GO KICK SOME PIRATE *** !!!"

And so the battle began.....
