Daishi stood realizing his true problem that has kept him from doing his job as greatly as he used to.

"I always knew this day would eventually come, but I didn't ever concieve it would come so soon." Daishi muttered as he removed the las bottle of alchohol/alchohol like substance from the Royal Barkalounger's cargo bays.

As Daishi walked down to the hanger bay where he had the Royal Barkalounger billited, he sealed up the Royal Barkalounger and turned out all but two lights.

Just as Daishi turned out the last light the door opened and most of the high council and command staff of the Vast Empire walked in.

"I have asked you all here today to do me a favor, I need you to take some items out of my possesion, chose you because I know you will put them to the best use. The items in question is my alchohol and Varneck Citrus supplies. Distribute them as you see fit for I have no use for them any longer." Daishi said as he indicated the stack of crates at each of his sides.

Daishi held up the a bottle and took his last drink of Varneck Citrus.

"This will long be remembered as a day of solemnous, I have grown to know you fairly well over the past six months and I realize that you did not come to this decision lightly." Feild Marshall Majere spoke now entering the hanger.

"Feild Marshall, I did not expect to see you here. Fortunately I did have a bottle saved for you personally which I planned on delivering after the rest of my supplies had been `commandiered,' and I doubt you truly know me as well as you think you do." Daishi replied as he watched his guests depart with what used to be his alchohol.

"I wish to discuss something with you anyway, I beleive it would be prudent if we waited until the others left." Majere returned as hewatched the last person leave.

"We are now alone as we will probably ever get." Daishi said as he noded to Majere's Massassi guards.

"I was told you have a ship stored here yet I do not see it, even with the force." Majere said as he began inspecting the hanger.

"That is the idea. Allow me." Daishi said as he turned up the lights allowing the sleet gray of the hanger to contrast against the matte black of the Royal Barkalounger's just as Majere stopped two inches from sumbling into the port bow landing strut.

"Shall we discuss what is on your mind now?" Daishi said as he indicated the boarding ramp.

"Yes, let us." Majere said as he threw a quick glare at Daishi for his temporary laps in protocal.

"As you are a guest aboard this ship I shall allow you the most comfortable chair, I hope it meets your approval Feild Marshal. There is a well stocked mini-fridge in the left side of the chair, both in terms of food and non-alchoholic drink." Daishi said as he lead Majere to the Royal Barkalounger's command chair.

"I wish your opinion on our next strike, as you have displayed great tactical ability in the past." Majere spoke as he sat in the command chair.

"I am honored Feild Marshall, I will do my best but I will make no promises for victory. All my skill is now at your disposal." Daishi replied.

Well after that bird incident and having more e-mails from the Feild Marshall in my inbox than from my IW commander, Fleet Admiral Eucilid, needless to say I feel more apreciated around here.

As Daishi began to stand after having finished his conversation with the Feild Marshal.

"I have one more question for you Daishi, actually two more." Majere stopped Daishi.

"Very well Feild Marshal, allow me to move something first." Daishi said as he nodded at his weapons pack.

"As you wish." Majere responded.

Daishi stood up and moved his weapons pack to another compartment in the ship approximatly ten meters away.

"Now I am ready for your questions." Daishi replied as Majere suddenly sensed his mind for the first time since entering the ship.

"First your training appears to be far different than that of the standard imperial acadamies, so if you were not trained by the empire who were you trained by?" Majere asked as he probed to ensure he would get the truth.

"I was trained by the Varneck Royal Military Acadamy on Varneck in the city of Resin. I spent eight years training there, mostly on the rifle range. Several years later I went back to get some supplementry training. My primary training was focused on boarding, capturing, and defending ships from boarders. My secondary training was in star fighter operation. Terteriary training was in the feild of special operations focused on sniper attacks. I was trained as was mandatory for emergancy feild first aide and medicine. The supplementry training I recieved was for law enforcement proceedures." Daishi recanted as the Feild Marshal watched him intently.

"Now my second question, what kind of name is Daishi, I have heard bizare names in my time but nothing like Daishi?" The feild Marshal inquired.

"My callsign is Daishi, my name is Robert Lee. Dai is japanese for great or large and shi is japanese for four or death. I was given the callsign by one of my comrades when flying cover for the Darkstar. I have just been using my callsign like it was my name for so long that it is understandable that people would think it is my name." Daishi replied as he began to sip on a cup of green tea.

"Interesting, I look forward to seeing your name on an after action report again, it has been a while. Oh nice chair by the way." Majere said as he stood from the Royal Barkalounger's command chair.

"I am glad it has met with your approval Feild Marshal. I am honored that you paid me this visit, and as I promised I have a bottle for you, an exceptionally good vintage white chardone. This particular varity works well as a glaze for seafood dishes." Daishi said as he retreived the bottle from his mini-fridge.

"Well I should be better off now that I am rid of that accursed stuff." Daishi said as he made his way to his computer to begin coding for another simulator mission.

Daishi let out an ominous sigh as the drudgery of his work wore on him as a constant burdon.

Today more than ever before the grey hairs in Daishi's hair and beard betrayed his age to those around him, especialy those he wanted to think he was younger.

"Soon I shall be back on the front line I can tell and I should rest. At least it will give me a break from this insane monotony." Daishi said to himself as he drifted to sleep where he sat despite his best efforts to stay awake.

Daishi woke to suddenly find himself in the middle of a very large feild with a circle painted on the ground and marked with posts. Across the feild from him stood another man, obviously a jedi of some sort as he held his light saber in the air.

Next to the man was Daishi's weapons pack, barely visable above the tall yellow grass of the feild and reflecting the light of the solitary sun setting.

"You are no match for me yet you are still willing to do battle with me. Very well old man let us get this over with before I am late for dinner." The figure said in a loud booming voice.

"As you wish." Daishi replied as he unhooked the two light sabers at his right hip, tossing them into the air and grabbing one in each hand, and igniting them.

Daishi was the first to make a move by charging the jedi and beginning with a low sweeping swing with his right hand lightsabre.

The jedi countered by trying an top to bottom slice only to be deflected by Daishi's left hand sabre.

"You are more than I expected but you will still not defeat me." The jedi came back as he started a mid-level swing.

"Shut up and get on with it then." Daishi replied as he effortlessly parried the blow.

Both warriors exchanged fruitless blows with few words said as the sun vanished completly from the sky.

"You will have no chance against me now that darkness is on my side." The jedi said as he made a whirl of blows for Daishi's mid-section.

"Now we shall see who is the weak one." Daishi replied as he parried the saber.

Daishi switched from deffense to offense with the exact change from day to night.

A sheer look of terror swept over the jedi's face as he blocked a neck shot from Daishi but Daishi continued his spin and still decapitated his opponent.

"Well fought for a jedi. Mayhaps now you will not think of yourself so highly." Daishi said as he left the circle in triumph.

With a flash of light a hard thump on his head Daishi found himself back in the Royal Barkalounger on the floor beneath the chair he fell asleep in, now with a cold sweat added to his condition as well.

"That was one hell of a dream." Daishi grumbled as he struggled to his bed and resumed his slumber.

As Daishi woke from his slumber an idea hit him. As of late there had been a lot of reports of pilots missing thier targets because they couldn't lead them enough and several casses of slow running and prematurly detonating warheads. All problems could be solved with the one idea Daishi had.

"Oh man why didn't I think of this sooner. Unfortunately this won't work on the older fighters and simulators but it'll be a duesy on the new ships." Daishi mumbled to himself as he set a new record for from bed to duty ready.

*Later in Threeof4's office*

"So how did you come up with this refit idea?" Threeof4 asked as he looked over Daishi's report.

"The warhead part is based on rebel schematics I had once seen long ago but couldn't recall until now, the laser part is a bit more complicated. The problem was that our focusing equipment slowed down our lasers too much so I came up with a new focusing array which will allow for the greater velocity of the lasers without any damage loss or extra heat." Daishi explained.

"Very well begin feild tests on this system immediatly on select TIE drones, I expect the navy will also want this soon once they learn of it's existance." Threeof4 replied.
