![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Listen up troops, Lieutenant TJ shouted at the noisy troopers of Wraith squad. We have a very important mission for you that will require lots of determination and problem solving. One of our mining planets needs our help. You know just as well as I do that you are their best chance. Your mission is to reboot their generators that have been knocked by an enemy star fighter bombardment. In doing so will their machines will become operational once again. The catch, the generators controls that you need are down below in the mine. Reports have recovered very important information that you MUST put into consideration. I am sending you the rest of our information now. You will see the same as what is know on the screen. The overhead flashed on, showing the information. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Fury looked over the latest recon passes over the mining colony. Only two hours old, a TIE Lone Scout enroute to NR space had stopped to make a surveillance pass and then transmitted its findings back to Lotaith. Having jumped through a few bureaucratic and diagnostic loops, 1LT Fury had gotten a slightly cleaned up look at the visual and scanner information provided by the recon craft. Any more polished and there would have been little to discern. What was there was bad enough. On screen he was viewing a pan-in by the recon camera, passing by a light orbital defense platform, basically a refitted XQ-3 refueling platform. At least it once had been. Darkened, it provided an eerie tableau over what was to come. Nearer to the planet's atmosphere were a collection of shattered ships and fighters. The remains of an old Trilon Mining Barque and a couple Ghtroc 580 freighters floated near the remnants of what was apparently the local TIE defense contingent. Further into the atmosphere was the shell of an Inclement-class tanker/refueler ship. Around it were quite a few snubfighters....StarWing Gunboats, Missileboats, Supa fighters, and more than a few Toscan 8-Qs. Whatever had hit this colony was meant to look like a pirate group. Checking the comm channel data, Fury looked upon an almost silent cascade. Anyone who remained alive on the planet was in hiding or seriously injured. It was as if no one had survived. On the planet's surface the husk of pre-fabricated structures smouldered next to the remains of groundborers and G-1 heavy labor droids. If anyone was to save this colony, it would be up to the Corps. Already, replacement miners and beefed-up security contingents were being assembled for transport to the planet. All that awaited their departure was the efforts of Wraith squad. Got a little bored waiting for someone to post. Come on people, don't be shy. ------------------ IP: 164.58.10.12 |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() "Dark Knight, you are clear to land." TJ brought the shuttle down on the landing pad. Equipping himself with a special eniro-suit, TJ lowered the shuttle's ramp and emerged to find the place deserted. 'Where are they?' TJ thought to himself. TJ moved towards the storage buildings and after finding no trace of Wraith squad in the first two was starting to have his doubts. As TJ opened the third one, Wraith squad turned, guns raised. "Hold your fire Wraiths, I haven't seen any progress from you. You can either get working on this or surrender your mission and join me on the trip back to base...but, doing so WILL hurt you. Make your choice soon...time is runnung out." With that, TJ stepped out of the building watching the door shut behind him. ------------------ IP: 24.112.158.22 |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Anakin Turned off the simulator and walks into dead quite room of Wraiths training simulator... The squad seemed to be having mechanical problems in the mission that the computer did not pick up, or so that was their excuse... "I regret to inform you that you have failed your mission...so we will be having Raiders and the Fallen Angels squad help you out so that this embarrasment of a mission can be completed. I would also like Double Agent in my office as soon as this mission is over." Anakin said glaring down at him. "As for the two new squads...all of your equipment is back and you can use any means necessary to complete your mission. I would like you guys to work together on this. The generator isn't very big so spliting up is not the best way to go." "I'll see you guys after its completed." Anakin saluted and walked out the door as the simulator flickered back to life again. ------------------ IP: 65.106.112.24 |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Cosmic was heading towards the platform of the mining facility in a Imperial Shuttle. As soon as they were right on top of the landing platform, Cosmic dropped down the rope...it quickly liquified...then turned to solid mass. As soon as they got to the entrance door at the end of the platform, Cosmic pushed a button and the door slid open, upwards. The walls were bare, only electric lamps above them lit the eary, dark tunnels of the mining station. Cosmic looked at the map and studied it for about two minutes. Cosmic looked once more down the elevator shaft. The elevator made slow "moans" and strange noises. Suddenly, the elevator stopped. "I KNEW IT! I knew it! But would you guys listen to me?? Nooo! You HAD to get into a broken elevator..." ------------------ "Victory is not the true objective, the true objective is learning how you won." - Cosmic "We are the Way, for We are the Protectors and the Attackers. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Cosmic quickly motioned for his squad to stand back. He aimed his rifle down at the floor and fired. The blast caused a small hole in the floor, Cosmic fired until he had a hole enough to fit one trooper. Cosmic sailed through the air and landed through the huge opening and landed on the ground with a 'thump'. Cosmic tied the leather and motioned to the squad: a thumps up. The rest of the squad followed as soon as Snake was off. As soon as the squad was on the lower level, Cosmic untied the leather on the lower level and quickly took aim at the other tied end on the elevator. Fired...... When Cosmic was done, he walked towards Snake. Cosmic started walking and the Squad followed. After about thirty feet, Cosmic saw a narrow stairway. ------------------ "Victory is not the true objective, the true objective is learning how you won." - Cosmic "We are the Way, for We are the Protectors and the Attackers. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Raziel looked around wearily as he went, the lighting was fairly dim in the dingy stairway. Beams of light lanced out into the darkness from the flashlights attached to each troopers rifle. Raziel merely found them annoying, he had spent enough time in the dark to see quite perfectly and the light meant that his eyes couldnt adjust properly. "I'm really not so sure about this," Epic whined. Raziel was really, really, not so sure. He didnt voice his opinions but something about this seemed, wrong. Why would they give them a mission like this to complete? There were the terrible conditions they had to perform in, but they had done dangerous condition training many times. No it was likely that something else was going to spring up on them, something that would really be testing. Raziel kept his body fairly low to the ground and his rifle shouldered so that that torchlight followed his line of sight. He stretched his legs across more debris and carried on cautiously. The attack had obviously done a fair amount of damage, the generator was hidden deeply below the bowels of this mountain and still the generator had been knocked out. Raziel was not too happy about being the last to descend the dark stairway; it was normally the man at the back who would disappear first. Cosmic was at the front but he could handle himself. Raziel kept wary as the carried on. He had the keenest senses out of the group and if he kept alert he would probably be the first the notice anything out of the ordinary. The problem was his mind was still trying to go over to theories behind slicing. Between missions Fury had handed him a slicing kit from the Raiders old slicer, because he had thought Raz might have found it useful. The problem was that Raziel had never really been into computers, with the exception of breaking the occasional electronic lock in the old days. Raziel had worked hard at it however and was beginning to get his head around it. He was a fast learner. Fortunately he had very nimble dextrous hands that could work a board quickly and with precision. Raziel raised his head sharply and went back to scanning his surroundings; he had been caught mentally napping. Raziels sharp ears began to pick up some noise. Raziel coked his head a listened intently, some kind of deep thrumming sounds. Anyone else hear that? Raziel asked. A general negative murmur from the squad told him they hadnt. Then the sound turned up a notch, rising in both pitch and volume. Hey I can hear something, whispered Cosmic. I dont like this, Snake grumbled under his breath. We carry on! Hissed Cosmic. The carried on now but the noise began to grow (left this one fairly open for someone to seriously elaborate upon, story was a bit boring) [This message has been edited by Raziel (edited August 04, 2001).] IP: 62.253.32. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Yes Raz, we are supposed to be with the FA but apparently they're not HERE! ![]() Cosmic stared through the lowly lit stairwell through his visors and saw nothing, only heard. They all came to a stop when Cosmic saw a door that had some writing, but was not readable. Cosmic tried to make the best of the writing and tried to make it out, but it was too old and the paint scratched off pretty easy. "Sir, shouldn't we be heading to the generator?" Asked Montys. A half hour went back and still no sign of the ending of the stairwell. Cosmic halted the squad for a rest, for it was getting really stuffy in the stairwell. Cosmic wanted to let the squad have some water but he knew he couldn't let them open their helmets. Finally, about another hour and a half later, then saw a light at the end of the curving stairwell. Cosmic turned to them. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now guys, i really don't feel ike losing my head, especially not literally. if these stupid things can defeat the miners, dismantle equipment, survive the atmosphere and have claws id prefer not to meet them. Just remember that not fighting and not using explosives are two different things." at that snake grinned evily but none of his fellow troopers could tell for his face was masked inside the pationless white of his helmet."now if you'd step aside it'd be greatly appreciated. i recommend a corner that you can lay down in." giving the rest of his squad enough time to find cover and his own eyes enough time to find a hiding place he armed the glop grenade and set the time for ten seconds. without doble checking his work he dove fore cover and then laid down. he noticed that it was Cos he was laying next to."watch and learn young one" knowing that he sounded stupid, seeing as he had just reached the ripe old age of 14 Snake decided it might be better for him to stick to the explosivez part of the mission. Just as he came to that conclusion he heard the popping sound of the grenade opening and then hissing as the sticky stuff came out. waitng for it to become quiet he stepped out from behind cover and closed up the glop grenade, setting it up so it could be used again in the future. he knew the next use of it would be in the very near future. Snake then pulled out the thermal detonater and armed it for thirty seconds after making sure there was sufficient glop on the ceiling to keep it from falling back on his head. Luckilythere was so he tossed it up and dove. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Cosmic quickly grabbed the thermal detonator in midair just as Snake threw it. He quickly disarmed it and looked at Snake who was curled up in a ball in a corner waiting for the explosion to occur. Cosmic threw the thermal detonator up and down in his hand until Snake looked up at him. Cosmic got up and went through the hole with the squad behind him...of course they had some room between persons so they wouldn't get bunched up. It seemed like ten minutes before actually hearing a noise.....scrttchch....scrtthch. Cosmic finally heard the sound get louder and then tunnel curved sharply. A red glow rolled along the walls of the hole as the laser blurred through the air and hit the leg.... Crawling backwards was hard enough, now there was an alien on their tail!....well, in front of them! Epic was the first one out of the hole...them Montys, then Kyp then Raz and so on. Yellow bolts of lasers shot at the aliens head. Green ooze started emerging from the creatures eyes.
Epic was near a corner when Snake made the comlink to AirRide. Suddenly, a huge blast came from the wall right next to Epic and another alien creature came out...it's claws raised and ready to strike...Epic screamed as the creature came out....it hit Epic with its arm and Epic flew and hit the wall...it then targeted Snake who just saw the creature and then got hit... Cosmic and the rest of the squad quickly fired..... Cosmic quickly turned to the two troopers... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() "Cos toss me the det and the leather" barked Snake. The idea had come to him about half way up the steps. "i'm gonna need cover too." Snake caught the leather strap and found two pieces of rock that jutted out on either side of the door about 6 inchis off the ground. making sure that his knots would withstand the pressure that was going to be put on them he proceeded to set the det's timer to sixty seconds. he was just finishing up when he heard the skitter of insect legs and the digging sound signifing more entrys into the battle coming from the stairway. "Guys, when they fall make sure they stay down for awhile. deciding that this was the perfect time he pulled the standard issue det of the back of his belt and set the timer on that to sixty seconds also.each thumb hovering over a seperate arming switch. getting into a crouch towards the side of the corridor he waited for the first insect thing to come through the doorway. he decided that after 2 fell he would arm the dets and see how many more he could take. The first insect came around a bend in the stairway and saw the squad ready for battle. Not suspecting that anything was amiss it charged the troops. The trap was sprung perectly, the insect falling flat on his face but not having any part of his body over the tripwire.the second came out as well, only realizing it's comrade was down as it started to fall. the third was wise to the problems the first 2 were having but couldn't discern the cause. He fell too. Snake knew the longer he waited the more likely they were to die but he also knew that they had to get maximum effect out of the trap. 4 down. Now the fifth had fallen alongside the rest. Snake decided it was time and armed both dets. tossing them each into a seperate corner by the door. Yelling out for the brave men of the Raiders to hold the creatures down with fire but back away as fast as they could he drew his own rifle and began to watch for signs of movement in the pack of bodies. More and more fell. then the dets went off, killing all the creatures in the pile, the one just charging through the door and one burrowing to get at them from the back. Two more began to tumble down the stairs, unconsious from the shockwave. they rolled into thier kin, taking many of the things back down the stairs involuntarily. Seeing tht the pile of bodies was high enough to use for cover he ordered the squad to form up behind it and watch for creatures. he also ordered them not to let any through the doorway knowing that it would keep the soldiers safe from claws and keep them from massing in the chamber. The door was only wide enough for one being to get through at a time and snake knew they were dead if any number of the thing got into the corridor. they could knock them down one at a time. any more than that and the squad wouldn't be able to kill them as fast as they came. Just then the Fallen Angels burst around the corner. Fish called out to the squad saying that they had heard the explosions and came running. Then he realized what the troops were standing by. and understood the explosions immediatly. Cosmic told them about the creatures and that they were going to charge form the door. The FA formed up on one side of the mound, Raiders on the other. That was when everyone involved realized they had a chance. and then the battle started, for the things had recovered from the fall and shpock wave and rsumed their charge. As one all the troops fired as one came into view. A dozen entrance wounds decorated the front of its head and a dozen exit wounds the back. After the soldiers of the Vast Empire Army dropped it in one volley another filled its spot instantly and the troops knew they would have their hands full. ------------------ If it weren't for women we souldn't have civilization. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [Everyone, let's have a big cheer for the Angels' first post to this story!] The tunnel ahead looked clear, but with all that they had seen so far, who knew for sure. The creatures living down here looked awfully reminiscent of those employed by Amon Nezumi to guard his bases on Gauss, and now sworn in alleigance to 'the Great Death' as they knew the Daishi/Kuroishi twins. This may be their homeworld, or it may be that some former ally of Nezumi had placed them here. [For those not familiar with Amon Nezumi (read: those not from IW), he's a villain character from one of our run-ons (among other things), it should be on the Storynet] Stonefish signalled to the Whipid, Viper, behind him that it was clear to advance, and ducked into an alcove to clear the tunnel for him to pass. As he did so, Stonefish saw his finger tighten on the trigger almost before he heard the detonation ahead as another creature jumped out of the wall. Dropping prone, Stonefish rolled into the tunnel giving himself line of fire between Viper's legs. Eventually the thing dropped, and melted into a puddle of green goo. "Funny," said Viper, "how that skin of theirs only works when it's intact." "Yeah," replied Fish, "you'd expect we could drop them in one shot, but I guess it takes them a while to work out that they're dead." ------------------ "Magic is impressive, but now Minsc leads. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Raziel checked through all his supplies as the squad settled down to wait out the weather on the surface. Raziel had volunteered to go out scouting, but others had taken first shifts. Raziel though about how he wasnt really Stormtrooper material. He wasnt strong, especially brave or a particularly good shot. Neither did he have exceptional leadership skills. That meant that he had none of the great qualities that the stormtroopers were so famed for. To be honest the only reason he had made it through training was because of his well-honed stealth skills, his experience with knives and hand-to-hand fighting and how keen his senses were. The officer in charge wanted to keep him back for more weapons training. Raziel noted that he still had his slicing equipment. The stuff that the raiders deceased expert slicer had used. Raziel was only part proficient with the stuff so far and he doubted it would come in handy. Unless of course they needed to break into the computers for some reason when the power was back online. Raziel raised his head and looked around at his squad, a few knew armour suits but mostly the same squad he had learned to fight alongside. He was a sergeant now he remembered. Fortunately cosmic and snake both outranked him. He never particularly liked being in charge of people. He had always worked alone in the dark before the Vast Empire. Well he had learned to trust people since then, maybe he could learn to make team decisions and take responsibility. Raziels elfin features twisted in curiosity as he swore he heard something. Hmm anyone else hear something? Raziel asked. Then he realised what it was, except something about it wasnt right. To test his theory Raziel walked over to the nearest wall and placed his helmet against the wall. If not for the atmosphere he would have removed it. It sounded like the noise was coming from this wall; it was definitely coming from this direction. To test out his last idea Raziel walked to the opposite wall and finally the floor. He was right. Lieutenant sir, I think were in trouble If he didnt have a helmet on the troopers would have seen a huge grin spread across Snakes face. ------------------ IP: 62.253.32. |

We can't stand here and fight all these creatures in this room....we have to get out of here now!" Yelled Cosmic. Everyone turned to him and immediately started high-tailing it back to the landing platform where they could at least fire at the door until they got more help from AirRide. Cosmic and Kuroishi quickly ordered their squads to meet up at the surface. The squads did so in a hurrying-like fasion. Cosmic and Kuroishi ordered their squads to take position and ready to fire. Cosmic knew that the troops' weapons wouldn't keep firing forever, he knew that they would get low on ammo really quick if they kept fighting like this. As soon as that was done, Cosmic looked back up at AirRide. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Time passed very quickly during the rampage of Aliens. Finally, the 'weather' was lightening up. The aliens kept coming, though. "Lieutenant Cosmic, this is AirRide, we are prepared to drop down the supplies now...get ready to catch them. They are not heavy and are in a small box. It has all the parts as you requested." "Copy that. Send them down. Over." AirRide sent down a box and Cosmic caught it. He nodded at the box then set it down. He then walked over to the ammo boxes and got out two thermal detonators. The aliens started to tumble on top of each other, trying to get out...the started stacking up onto each other to get forward...making themselves a huge hill. The detonators bounced on the ground and slowly rolled towards the aliens. "Everyone duck!" Yelled Cosmic. They entered the facility and ran down the stairs and towards the generator... A half hour later, the running turned into a jog, but they were at the end of the stair well. Snake carried the activation switch and quickly ran to the activation switch area on the generator. Suddenly, Raziel heard some more 'critter footsteps'.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Cosmic looked worriedly at the no-door explosion. Suddenly, he remembered something: his stormtrooper pack! He quickly took it off and immediately got out three thermal detonators. He tossed one to Argon Viper and one to Snake. Cosmic looked around and saw a very small hole right on the left of him...on the 'wall' of the creatures insides. He motioned for the troopers who had the thermal dets time their detonators for ten seconds and shove them down that hole. Cosmic quickly ordered the troopers to run as far back as possible.... BOOM!A huge explosion erupted, green ooze was squirting from the wall that the dets were placed in...a hole! A way out! The squads ran out of the, was thought to be, belly of the huge organism and ran towards the stairwell up ahead. Cosmic and Kuroishi stopped and made sure every trooper in their squad made it out...once that was done, they looked at the creature.. "Looks like a big sucker." Said Kuroishi. They threw their dets with four seconds remaining... An huge explosion erupted from inside the creature... The troopers cheered and started jumping up and down with joy... AirRide dropped down a ladder, the rope on the ladder turned to liquid, then to a solid mass. The Raiders climbed up and shot the ladder off since it wouldn't fold-up again. The Fallen Angels got their ride too and shot down their ladder. "This is AirRide to ArchAngel, come in. Over." The two shuttles landed on the VE's landing pad and the squads stepped out and congratulated each other for a welldone mission. "Excellent job on the timing, Lieutenant." Said Cosmic. Ah...the fresh air! Cosmic and the Raiders and Kuroishi and the Fallen Angels were now out of the simulator and headed towards the Debriefing Room were they awaited Colonel Anakin for further orders.
