YOu can usually find me, when home, writing bits and pieces of what I guess you would call future manuals for Army use. Not that the ones we have aren't enough. Just as augmentation. Anyway, I was recently looking over some info that explained Ranks and Positions. Several clubs similar to this one, hold position over rank. In my opion this is isn't necessary. Sure, clubs that have 8,000 members might eventually have a problem with people who have served a long time, but have no command or other responsabilities. So they promote them another rank with no advancement in position. In my opinion, this is unrealistic and a bad policy. Take the real military. You dont see an enlisted man get promoted past sergeant unless he is trained and willing to take more responsability. Officers are really tough, because each rank starting with 2nd LT has a responsability or command that no matter what, goes along with it. Some may say that this isnt a good way to keep people interested, but consider that very long list of names at the end of the roster. Many of the a.w.o.l.s had decent ranks. A better method of promotion would slim the amount of people who come in, get a position and suddenly split when they dont like it anymore. It would also solve a small annoyance I experienced in the EH where I was the Squadron leader and a Commander in rank. I had 3 higher ranking members in my squad. It was frustrating. I propose the following; design task specific courses w/tests for each section of leadership. from corporal and up. Then form a specific chart explaining what you must be to be promoted. (that would encourage participation) If a private wants to be a corporal, take the test and apply. If a private doesnt, he can advance to pfc, but no more. Officers will have to take specific courses/tests(advisors and attaches not included)to advance EACH rank. You may wonder what happens when you are a private and there are no corporal or other positions to fill. You simply have to wait. The SC doesnt like giving rank out like candy, I agree. If performance merits commendation, that's what medals are for. I appreciate anyone who took the time to read this and really want to know what the SC thinks. {SALUTE} [This message has been edited by C.Lennox (edited 13 May 2000).] IP: 63.254.79. |

In my opinion, I wish more people took an interest in the Stormtrooper Corps as you do. I also know exactly how you feel when you are given a squad which contains individuals who, though lower in position, hold a rank far above you. The majority of them expect different treatment from you as a result of their rank and this causes serious problems. Your suggestion of designing task specific courses with tests for each section for corporals and above is a very interesting one. This, of course, would involve a great deal of work on my part to see the your idea come to life (*Makes a memo to hire a full staff of assistants, hehe*). A specific chart explaining what you must be to be promoted is also a good idea. Perhaps we could have the new recruits download the chart while they are completing their basic trraining the academy. Good suggestions, IMO. Keep thinking. IP: 24.237.58.18 |

another thing I was thinking about; We have bucket-loads of Officer ranks. Maybe extending the enlisted ranks abit would be appropriate. Master sgts and so on. They, afterall are the backbone of any army. And we should emphasize the difference between Officer/Enlisted. I'm not some class-crazed Legionare, but People should realize that there are big differences in the authority and responsabilities of the two. just an idea. IP: 63.254.79.3 |

Hehe. I am saving your energy for several other large projects, Trigit I noticed at the Rebel Squadrons (RS) Academy (which was run by that tyrant--- er--- "wonderful person" Carilla Shay), they had an Executive Officer as well as around two or three assistants to help the Academy Dean. Some of the assistants belonged to the academy XO because they were constantly working on numerous projects.

I was checking the awols on the roster and noticed the names people pick. I think we should have criteria for names when joining. Names such as Palpatine, Vader and Thrawn are bad, but killer, pscyco, butt-head, whatver(these are just examples I made up)are even worse. Make people pick a name that isnt requently used in star wars, and not an adjective that describes death or weaponry or crap like that. Giving you my 2 cents 2nd Lt Lennox IP: 63.254.79.2 |

we actually do have rules against that. when i was commander of personnel i wouldn't let anyone in if they had the name "Vader" "Moff ___" or anything like that. I hope that rule is still being upheld. ------------------ IP: 63.27.198.2 |

I just wanted to say this is great conversation going on. I am noticing a lot of great idea's being floated around. I do want to briefly say something though. The reason why some people may hold rank above others is because of my policy of slowing down the promotion process. Once someone is fully trained in his/her position they are usually promoted to at least the same rank as everyone under their command. The only exception is when I get a High Command officer at a General-type rank request to be demoted to Squad Member or something like that. In that case their will be someone with a lower rank then someone under their command. However, in the Vast Empire I promote the status of position much more than rank. Earning both should be a very slow process that should be earned. I have asked HG Crysus to start giving out medals more often and I have asked the Engineering Corporation to develop some graphics for the medals too (for peoples webpages and possible future uniforms). Keep up the good work everyone. FM Majere IP: 208.192.60.20 |

yeah, that's right... i'm santa now! get to work and i will give you a medal :P but in all seriousness, keep this going if you like, if their are any other suggestions they are welcome. I always like to get ideas, it helps the Stormtrooper Corps to be a place that is fun for everyone. If it is molded around the way a trooper likes it, then they trooper will say. ------------------ IP: 63.27.198.13 |
