The first thing that comes to mind when I see that test is, why are half the questions unrelated to the actual subject... Star Wars. That test reminds me of a history test that I'd receive in school. Pesonally I do not think people join the Vast Empire so they can research on the internet the symbiatic relationship between Darwin and Copernicus who were two different people who lived at two different times. There may be similarities but how does that question affect your leadership potential. I feel the old test was far better for actually seperating those who are not ready, and those who are. I know it is not my right to criticize but the point remains that we joined this organization not to stress our minds but to relax them and have as much fun as possible. So far we are one of the best clubs there are interms of our resouces and our people but it's the strict penal code and the streneous tests that make it, how should I say this... "DULL". So please take into consideration what I am referring to and try not to refer so much as to what the differences between National Socialism and International Socialism are. Do not get me wrong, I also share an interest in world issue topics and history. Sincerly 1st-Lieutenant Kurtz IP: 216.220.34.13 |

Second Lieutenant Kurtz, I would have appreciated it if you had sent me your criticism of my methods privately via email rather than show your distaste for them in public. Since you have inadvertently chosen the Stormtrooper Corps message board to display your opinions, I will respond here. Please do not take any personal offense to my repsonses. [*NOTE TO OTHER OFFICERS*: I fully understand the rules of "praise in public and punish in private". I take full responsibility for Kurtz' post. However, I wish to utilize this post to demonstrate to other members the goal of the new questions on the Imperial Officer's Comission Test.]
1) "The first thing that comes to mind when I see that test is, why are half the questions unrelated to the actual subject... Star Wars." Answer: Star Wars is drawn from real life. Therefore, the meaning of Star Wars may be found there too. ------------------------------------------------------- 2) "That test reminds me of a history test that I'd receive in school." Answer: Your opinion is noted, lieutenant. ------------------------------------------------------- 3) "Pesonally I do not think people join the Vast Empire so they can research on the internet the symbiatic relationship between Darwin and Copernicus who were two different people who lived at two different times. There may be similarities but how does that question affect your leadership potential. " Answer: A true leader values history. Grand Admiral Thrawn, created by Timothy Zahn, is a prime example of this. ------------------------------------------------------- 4) "I feel the old test was far better for actually seperating those who are not ready, and those who are." Answer: Only several of the questions which were on the old test have been removed. The new questions which were added are designed to determine the viewpoint of the taker. I have had several subordinates fail the test due to their answers on the text input questions being incorrect, yet I gave them a passing score due to their viewpoint. That is the purpose of those questions. ------------------------------------------------------- 5) "I know it is not my right to criticize but the point remains that we joined this organization not to stress our minds but to relax them and have as much fun as possible. " Answer: Your opinion is noted, lieutenant. ------------------------------------------------------- 6) "So far we are one of the best clubs there are interms of our resouces and our people but it's the strict penal code and the streneous tests that make it, how should I say this... 'DULL'." ------------------------------------------------------- 7) "So please take into consideration what I am referring to and try not to refer so much as to what the differences between National Socialism and International Socialism are. Do not get me wrong, I also share an interest in world issue topics and history." Answer: Your opinion is noted, lieutenant. [No, I do not have your rank incorrect. Upon passing the test you are a 2nd lieutenant, not a 1st.]

Mainly because "praise in public and punish in private" is something I not only cherish, but it is VE Policy. Anyone using a public forum to bash any VE member whether they are right or wrong is not VE Policy. I am closing this forum as requested and if anyone has any problem with this I will be more than happy to discuss them via e-mail. ------------------ IP: 208.192.60.20 |
