Well I have an interesting theory about this but somehow I highly doubt it is correct even though it does follow several current ideas about how time works and how the galaxies are moving. A theory about how time works is that it is that time goes in a loop, so if you go far enough into the future you'll actually wind up in the past. Combine that with the theory that the galaxies are moving in an orbital fashion such that this galaxy really would be a galaxy far far away by our current position and there you go. Also according to Star Wars history Coruscant was the capitol of all human settlement even before humans left for the stars. So by my theory we really have yet to develop such things. While I liked watching the Planet of the Apes series too, that line of thinking is fine for a beginning to a logical discussion of string theory. However, most stats for the planet Coruscant seem to belie the fact that it is not Earth. Your technology theories are all well and good and stuff, but someone explain me this: If it's in a galaxy far, far away, then why does everyone speak English? well i agree with geist and i think daishi is crazy, but u don;t know how they measure time there, their years are different, so if their years are longer, then they could be in year 167 while were in year 2001, so it would be a long time ago, if u measured it in years...... jub, check out http://theforce.net/swtc/>Star Wars technical commentaries the part on galactic measures and then the part on time in that. to the rest of you, go to the smithsonian and check out the magic in myth. it ways that because it's the stardard start to any myth. and if you say it isn't a myth, see the exhibit. it got some really cool stuff from the movies like the AT-AT that was used ESB and the ISD model that was used in all the films. it's really pretty cool ------------------ If it weren't for women we souldn't have civilization.
