Look g5 i spelled peeve right!ok, now on to the story at hand. I know I was going to write something about the over commercialization of the holidays, but after opening some presents at my dad's house, I've found something better to write about. So without any more further frosting:
Stupid people should not be allowed to touch, operate or look at computers. You know who you are. People that think that cd-rom drives are better used as cup holders or leg rests. Yes leg rests, there was a guy at work over the summer that called me because the cd-rom drive wouldn't close. He bent the thing out of shape, because he used it as a leg rest.
Now I know that there is a giant learning difference between generations and I know that income and previous education has something to do with it. But if you don't know anything about computers you should do one of two things:
a) Do not ever get one.
b) ASK LOTS OF QUESTIONS!
My grandparents are a perfect example of this. First, we'll start with my grandfather, he doesn't know jack crap about computers. And the best thing is, he doesn't want to know anything about computers. YEA! It means I don't have to explain things to him. The second, my grandmother, she is the most curious senior citizen that I know. She has all kinds of questions. The good thing is, she realizes that she doesn't know anything about computers, so she asks questions, and then when she gets the answers she writes them down. Good grandmother, heres a cookie. Now go away.
Now that we have settled the two main catagories out. We have found a third group, a splinter group if you will. A group that thinks they know everything, but they really don't. A group of people that will buy new hardware, try to install it, but instead end up breaking more things in the process. My brother is a perfect example of this, (no not Atrus, he knows what he's doing, good brother, here's a brownie ;-) ) he knows jack crap about computers, but he trys to install hard drives and cd-rom drives, etc. etc. etc. Most of the time, I end up having to take away precious VE time (can't say that without laughing) to go and solve his stupid problems.
Now let's review:
a) Stupid people bad
b) Computers Good
c) Stupid people using computers, kinda scary. (worst case scenario they put the mouse on the monitor and try to use it that way (yes it has happened (yes he was an engineer ( yes I took away his computer and told him to take a piece of paper and a pen ) ) ) )
d) Stupid people that think they know stuff about computers. RUN! Don't even stop to turn off the computer. RUN FAR FAR AWAY.
I don't have something to write about for next time, but I'm sure that I can come up with something.
