'WASHINGTON - - CIA agents detained a Pittsburgh man over the weekend following his arrival at Dulles Airport on Friday. Kenneth Dwayne Silver, 26, was waiting for a connecting flight after returning from a European backpacking trip when he was led away for questioning in a motel room at an undisclosed location. Mr. Silver was alleged to have wavered in his support for the United States while spending several weeks in Amsterdam. "The suspect had been observed nodding in agreement with an Australian woman who criticized US foreign policy, implying that our government is beholden to the interests of large multinationals like Coca-cola and General Electric," said an Agency spokesman. Mr. Silver and the woman were seen playing the card game "Hearts" with two Italian men in the common room of the youth hostel at which the four were guests. "We expect this sort of thing from other foreign nationals but when it's one of our own we feel that we need to step in and get to the bottom of it." Agents had been watching Mr. Silver, (who stresses that he is a traveler and not a tourist) since he was first spotted two months prior in a Munich train station with a Canadian flag sewn to his knapsack. "I just thought a lot of what she said made sense," said Mr. Silver following his release on Tuesday. "Like the Gulf War? That would never have happened if the oil companies didn't need access to cheap oil. I had never heard about that, or how the IMF keeps the third world in a state of chronic debt." Mr. Silver added that he hopes to e-mail the woman, whom he described as "totally tanned with an awesome Celtic armband tattoo". The CIA spokesman added, "We will continue to monitor Mr. Silver's e-mail as we do with everyone in the world."'
