On my many trips lately(about 32 hours since mid-July)I have passed the time reading a variety of Star Wars novels and found some VE members names in them. There aren't very many, but here we go:

Ghent(Army)-A slicer working for the smuggler, Talon Karrde (Heir to the Empire)

Trigit(Navy)-Commander of an ISD-II (X-Wing Series)

Sithspawn(Army)-A curse used in various Star Wars books

Where'd your name come from...respond here

I got my name from the book I'm writing. You want the first chapter. Ask me for it, I was writing it on paper so if you want it, it may take a little bit. =)

Well, Ghent for the Army is NOT from the slicer... but he (the character not what the name came from) is a slicer (coincidence). The name Ghent came from Myst: The Book of Atrus.

Ghent was the father of Atrus in the book, and took that as Ghent's first name to keep the names similiar(between Atrus and Ghent). First names: both from Myst. Callsigns: both songs. Last names: both band members last names from 311.

Kind of have been using this name for years, like Talon.

Comes from a Clive Barker novel called Imagica wherein the main character was named Furie. Changed it to Fury for personal use.

It must have been a typo throughout your book because I looked in ALL 3 of my books and I reloaded Riven to check the books in that game and it says Ghen. Sorry man.

Here is a link to Cyan's web site (the people behind Myst and Riven, plus the books), and they say "These pages are your link to the story of Atrus, son of Gehn" about MYST: The Book of Atrus.

Hmm, well, none of my nicknames originiate from Star Wars books sadly However, this is where they come from:

Rarc - My own invention.

Flask - From the novel, Moby Dick.

Spartacus - From the slave who was crucified on the cross by the Romans. (Note: No, I watched the cheesey '60s flick starring after I had selected this name).

Scivola - From the Roman soldier who burned his left hand entirely to a stub without uttering a cry before an enemy king to prove that Romans were the bravest men in the world.

Sparks - From a 1930's cliff-hanger serial called, "The Whispering Shadow".

Now the question I want answered is: Where did Threeof4 acquire is nickname? Someone once said it was from a Star Trek episode on the Borg, hehe :P

Spart, I remember seeing on the list of retired VE members a Fiveof4. Any connection?

Fiveof4 derived his name from Threeof4. His nickname before he joined the Vast Empire was "Kelvis".

Well, i probably had watched some cheesy spy flick before i selected the name, but i think i shoulda used Speedo Mask, but how was i supposed to know i'd like Speedo Mask ID so much? i use it on EVERYTHING in one way or another...in other words i Have NO IDEA how i came up with this name.

I am also a Myst fan but i don't dare move from my computer lest my smaller brother should snatch the machine away from my grasp!
BUT.....i am now wondering about that question too strongly so i must! ahh...if you look on the back cover of The Book of Atrus the middle paragraph sez:
"These pages are your link to the story of Atrus, son of Ghen, and the last of the race of D'Ni--the masters of The Art. It is also Ghen in The Book of Ti'Ana, and i didn't really look very hard in the book of D'Ni, but i didnt find the name mentioned from what i just read...there you have it. in all the instances in my books it is Ghen. so please stop arguing. Atrus is the son of Ghen, who is the son of Aitrus, correct? it's been a few years since i read the books. i read them in Jr High...

Schnapps comes from my favorite drink, which for your information I first discovered at a party in the Clandeboye Lodge Hotel. My first experience with schnapps came a while earlier, when at a different party someone lost a dare and had to down a double peach schnapps in one - through his sock.

Sayrah Mikfarlant is a variation of my RL name.

Archer (my defunct army name) comes from my favorite brand of schnapps.

Snapper is a variation of Schnapps, spawned after several members of the NR were totally unable to spell "Schnapps" correctly.

I used to go by Jekyll and Lion-O, but purely for the purpose of annoying a few people (with the aid of one Sparkles, I might add *grin*) who didn't know how to whois.

Well.... as some of you know, I went by Benjamin "Obiwan" Kenobi, a clone of Obi Wan while I was in the EH. However, when I left the EH I decided to write that I used an unkown power and illegally used Doppleganger to make it look like I was dead and that I was really a clone of Qui Gon Jinn, named Gui Sun Paan. But, my original character was based on the late Alec Guinness. He believes a lot of the same things that Obi Wan and Yoda believe, even though he's dark.
