You were serious about what you did for the Vast Empire, and made the perfect role model for our future generations. You stand as an idol for many young ones, and you are the reason why a lot of Navy people were inspired. Lots of people can imagine you, right now, at this moment, not only with many of your loved ones in Heaven, but also on a great Super Star Destroyer in Imperial Space. A great Dark Jedi Master...the perfect Ace. You are the reason why I, Cosmic, wanted to join the VEDJ in the first place. I wanted to be like the great leader: DJM Atrus. I don't know much about your Army life, Atrus, only to know that you were once High Colonel, still are in all of our eyes's. You knew your grounds....and where you stood above all else. As you look down upon our small world from the greatest place yet to come for all of us, take a peak at us from time-to-time. We'll make sure of that, and we'll have something special for you while you're at it. We'll have you in our minds, our words, and our hearts. Along with the angels, singing and dancing, seeing loved ones and walking with them side-by-side. Being with fathers, mothers, sisters, and brothers of all families on 'cloud '9'. Watching us all, beneath the great clouds...watching...just watching us as we reside in our world. As children laugh and play in the summers warm light, the clouds role by, and inspire poets of devine power and might. Eagles fly as Super Star Destroyers do. They are the Kings of the Skies, the predators that swoop. They fly through the skies at speeds so astounding. Yet they hold dear their young ones or new recruits, and teach them the ways of the Swoop. You, Atrus, are the Glorious Eagle now, swooping through the skies in a way that no one knows how. You look down upon us with your sharp eyes, yet you fly through the air with grace and pride. Cosmic Citizen Posts: 558 Registered: Sep 2000	posted August 11, 2001 07:27 PM The Feeling of Command - Above and Beyond the Call of Duty The feeling of Commanding is unlike anything else in the world. The feeling that I am in Command is a feeling that not all people are granted. Being in Command for the first time is really astounding. You're feelings are swirled. It's a big job...a big responsibility that is demanded. The feeling of giving orders, or just simply answering a question that a trooper has, is very inspiring for all who are given the honor to do so. Having your rank on your shoulders instead of on the side of your arm is: Great. Battling across rocky terrain, waterry planets or heavy snow. Having to try and stay warm in a field or giving commands to a computer to improve the shields...or compensate is the best feeling in the world. The Feeling of Command....."Command"...maybe it's the word. Commanding a Squad, Platoon, or more is Life in the Army. For a lot of troopers, Command is just something to look forward too, but it sure does good for you in a ceromony. Praising your troops as they come back, victorious from battle... Having one-to-one chats with the troops is not something that you can do everyday. You can't treat your troopers as dirt...a good Commander is decent, discplined, and doesn't treat their troopers as cattle...but respects them. Sure Commanding is the best way to gain discipline and leadership...but it's also something to use when you want to get your feelings away... Atrus had that Feeling, there is no doubt. He made his troopers respect him and respect other officers...he tolerated no 'pouts'. He tought them how to be great pilots and soldiers, he tought them discipline and might...But best of all, he tought them that the Rebel Alliance was wrong! And that the Imperials are always Right. The Vast Empire was so fortunate to have a man like him on Duty. A leader and good friend was he to all of us who knew him...even for such a short time. But even know his life ended in such a tragic accident...his Legacy will live on. On one summer night our lives were changed with the death of our friend and the pain that it brings Raising his hand for the Imperial Eagle so true To defend the values held by so few Giving his sweat, blood, and tears To defend a galaxy we all hold so dear He flew his starfighter and supported us too He called us family with a heart that said "I love you." He was stationed on planets both hot and cold To defend the values we hold so bold His name lives on, written in stone We will never forget, because he defended our home.
