I have been asked to put up to vote the possiblity of moving servers for IRC chatting. As you (should) know we are currently using LSF's server. I, personally, have had nothing but trouble (for the most part) with LSF, one thing being my REGISTERED nick being stolen. I have been registered under Talon on LSF's server ever since we moved. I even had ops in #Vast_Empire when it was stolen just because an LSFer wanted it. We have also had problems before of LSFers flooding with exits and entries and also cursing quite a bit. When I asked FM Threeof4 if we could move servers he told me to take it here... I say we move servers to "irc.holonet.org" (The Massassi Temple's server [www.massassi.net]). I have been on there a number of times and each time they have been very friendly and they even have the same CoC we do as far as cursing. As much as I dislike the LSF and "their" server you will never catch me on Massassi's server either. I knew I should have thought longer when the CoC was written. I just knew people would take things to far with every word written. People have a way of not understanding the CoC and why it was written. 80% of all the problems I have ever had with CoC violations is because people seem to think the CoC is something to live your life by. What happened with you was unfortunate Talon. Harping on things like is just gonna make everyone around you upset. Drop it!! Since this is a vote of the people then opinions count and what I just said is my opinion in its most blunt form. My vote is to stay. Dealing with childrin like the LSF is not that hard. I have had worse problems with people on the undernet. I downright refuse to go to the Massassi server although I am open to one that acknowledges the right of free speech (yes, although free speech is something you cant practice in the VE. It is something that should be allowed on IRC servers. I will have nothing to do with a server where I live in fear of getting banned because I accidently said a really bad curse word). I for one am forced to agree with Majere. The Emperor's Hammer is supposed to have the strictest CoC of any SW club, yet, they have unofficial channels, as well as official ones, and all the time I was there, they simply banned individuals who caused any sort of problem for them. It really isn't all that hard to warn, kick, and ban. I say we just deal with it. Besides, cussing excessively is one thing, slipping and cussing out of anger is going to happen every now and then. I shoulda done this first. I would like to scrap the first vote and vote on the matter of if we should leave LSF's server (I know it isn't LSF's but a member's but what the higher ups of LSF says goes). All in favor? Well..... there is always jedinetwork...... irc.jedinetwork.com I believe. The name should speak for itself, otherwise you could go to www.jedinetwork.com.
