I have bad news guys. Sir Alec Guinness has died. We all know him as the man who gave us the role of an older, wiser Obi Wan Kenobi in the original SW movies. I would ask that you all take a moment of silence to honor someone who helped to make Star Wars the wondderful thing it has become for us all. Thank you. Here is the CNN obit if you'd like to see it. http://www.cnn.com/2000/SHOWBIZ/Movies/08/06/alec.guinness.obit.ap/index.html ------------------ IP: 172.146.130.8 |

I also think it's sad, but think of it this way...at least it wasn't Vader or Palpatine...or are they already dead? IP: 24.112.158.22 |

No you dummy! Ian Mc Diarmid was in Episode 1!(That's Palpatine) and afaik, David Prowse(Darth Vader's body) is still with us. Plus if you live in Bell Atlantic/Verizon's area you know James Earl Jones is still here. IP: 172.164.93.22 |

Hmm. Well, out of all of them (David Prowse, Ian Diarmid, Alec Guiness, and James Earl Jones) . . . I liked Alec Guiness the most as an actor. When he spoke his voice always seemed to be very wise and intelligent. [This message has been edited by Spartacus (edited 08 August 2000).] IP: 24.237.58.18 |

He was a really good actor...But its better so, he was a very old man, 86 I think. It was better for him. And now he is looking down to us from the stars in a galaxy far, far away... IP: 62.224.89.9 |

Hmmmm.......Reminds me of how much Peter Cushing's death ruined my 15th birthday. IP: 205.188.197.16 |

Indeed he was a fine actor. It's ironic that he hated Star Wars fans so. I don't think he really wanted to be known for being Obi Wan IP: 172.128.24.10 |

Extremely sad. He was unquestionably the best actor in the movie. if you disagree with me, i still love you! IP: 207.32.44.20 |
